Right in the heart of the seaside town of Santa Ponsa, this complex has got everything on its doorstep. Forget tracking down bus stops and hunting for cabs - the beach, bars, restaurants and shops are all within flip-flopping distance.
But this place has got more than just location on its side - there’s the actual hotel facilities, too. Star billing goes to its impressive entertainment menu. You’ve got a selection of daytime activities like water polo, archery and volleyball, while live shows pick up the baton in the evening. Kids aren’t left out either - they get their own playroom, and kids aged five and over can join in the fun at the hotel’s hobby club.
Then there's a couple of big swimming pools to consider, complete with a kids section, set into a good-sized sun terrace. And there are plenty of sunbeds and thatched parasols out here, too.
Step inside, meanwhile, and you’ll find the bedrooms. They’re light, spacious and simply styled with whitewashed walls and light wood furniture. What’s more, they all come with private balconies.

Great hotel for a getaway
Having just returned from the hotel, I have to say it was a great hotel despite the reviews I had read before booking. Me and my partner booked this for a birthday getaway for him and a break from the UKs crap weather. We went all inclusive so that we had drinks and food if we wanted it but still chose to eat out, getting to see what was available in Santa Ponsa. Arriving at the hotel I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming entrance despite not getting there till 01:30. The reception was manned and we were quickly checked into our room and provided the key. The room was sufficient, bed was reasonably comfortable and while we were there all rooms were provided with new mattresses, part of updating the hotel I guess which was good as showed they do replace things. The bathroom was small but had everything you needed and the shower was pretty impressive despite it looking powerless. The balcony overlooked the shops and the sun terrace and caught the sun which was nice. The pool was very clean however a tad cold. The sun stayed shining on the sun loungers most of the day with a cold breeze every so often which was rather refreshing. The food, all three meals of the day were varied and catered to many tastes and countries. There was British options, German options, always a meat dish, fish dish and vegetable dish with an extensive range of salad, bread, drinks and deserts. The snacks available were of a good standard. Burgers, hotdogs, toasties pizza and fruit available for the majority of the day. The drinks available were widely varied, with the option to buy things not on the all inclusive allowance. The cappuccino is amazing and worth having. Entertainment for the children there looked good, and the kids all looked happy and entertained including drawing, face painting and games. The evening entertainment varied from children's entertainment with the entertainers dressed in costumes, to a live band playing music. Overall this hotel is one I would return to and recommend. I will also look at staying in the others in the chain across the world.More

Stayed here for 4 nights with My husband, 15 year old son and his friend. Purchased a good deal on Travelzoo. Lovely small resort and at this time of year it was pretty quiet so safe enough for the boys to wander during the day. The standard of the hotel was very good, staff friendly and food plenty and varied. However, if you are not staying on the all inclusive option, drinks at the hotel are not cheap, just over 2 euros for a soft drink. You can upgrade to all inclusive but obviously it does tie you to the hotel, which is fine if that is your cup of tea but the lovely beach is only a couple of minutes away and plenty of other bars and restaurants nearby too! Would recommend it.More
Brilliant! Highly recommended!
I was slightly dubious about our stay here after reading the reviews on here - but there was no need to be. The hotel is just lovely, absolutely ideal for families because of its location (just down the road from the centre of Santa Ponsa, with a gorgeous beach at the end of the street). There was family entertainment each evening and the animation team worked really hard, and were excellent! The rooms are compact but spotless, and there's a TV with several English channels and a hairdryer in the bathroom. The rooms are serviced each day and so are spotless. The cleaning staff are the friendliest I have ever come across. On the all inclusive option the food is more than adequate; I agree that there is a lot of pork on offer, but there are always at least 4 or 5 options so no need to have the pork if you don't want it. There was HUngarian Goulash one evening, which was absolutely delicious! The breakfast choices are also excellent, whether you opt for continental, cooked or a mix of both. We stayed 9-16 April and whilst the pool was cold, the kids didn't seem put off by this and spent a great deal of time on there - the indoor pool is much warmer! All in all, I'd go back to the Pionero in a heartbeat - an excellent hotel in a gorgeous location at a bargain price. Do it! :)More

Nice for a short stay
This was the perfect hotel for a five day break. We visited the week prior to Easter so it was nice and quiet. There were plenty of sun loungers and the pools are equidistant from two bars. The all inclusive food options were varied and tasty and the staff friendly. Two criticisms: The beds in a double room are two singles pushed together that often separated in the night; the other is that the decor in the bedroom was beginning to look a little tired and could have done with a lick of paint.More

We stayed at this hotel in 2013 Jun. Hotel was good, clean, very kind employers. We liked a small Santa Ponsa town, the main beach is a sandy, ant there also was few rocky beaches. Panoramic wiev is briliant :)More
