San Agustin is one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it places. It sits on Majorca’s south coast, seven kilometres from Palma, making it one of the closest resorts to the island’s capital. That said, it’s less of a holiday resort and more of a residential district. It’s a low-key place made up mainly of hotels and apartments perched on a hill above the sea, so it feels laid-back and quiet.
There’s no real town centre to speak of, just a main shopping street which winds down to a rocky waterfront and marina. Restaurants and bars stand on the rocks, so you can have a drink and a meal looking over the Mediterranean. The beach, meanwhile, is a ten-minute walk away at Cala Mayor. Stretching for 200 metres, it’s a sandy affair with a beach bar, sunbeds and lovely views over the Bay of Palma.
When you fancy speeding things up a bit, local buses will take you into Palma, with its cathedral, shops and restaurants. And for evenings out, you can head for Palma again or take a 15-minute cab ride to lively Palma Nova just down the coast.
