Would not revisit

I would echo the recent review by " uk Carlos". We stayed at this hotel with our 15 year old grandson in August. I do not know whether it was the hotel of Thomson's fault but we went to the hotel under the misplaced belief that we could use any one of five restaurants and that there would be plenty of things for a 15 year old to do. Neither proved to be the case. As others have said it proved to be impossible to get into the themed restaurants on more than one occasion during the week and that was only our second choice! It would have been easier to book a table at a swish London restaurant. The food in the main restaurant proved to be barely adequate in quality. I got the impression that it tried to cater for both British and German guests but probably fell short for both nationalities. We got that fed up with it that on the last night we went to Savatores Pizza place down the road and had a very good pizza there. The Wi Fi is terrible in the hotel, a minor point perhaps but in this day and age it is something we come to rely on more and more. My grandson succeeded in downloading a game at Salavatores within seconds it had taken him many unsuccessful attempts in the hotel. This hotel mainly caters for families with small children. No problem with that at all but it was a bit galling for us to see that our 15 year old was too young to take part in the shooting and archery. The hotel simply did not cater for teenagers in my view. We are going to scrutinise the Thomson description of this hotel with a views to making a complaint to Thomson's we feel we were mislead. It comes to something when you have to dissect every sentence to understand what you are actually getting for a not insubstantial amount of money. I do concede however that in this instance my criticism is more of Thomson than the hotel. The positives for me were that the hotel was very clean, the staff were very good and the entertainment on a night was ok. The area around Sa Coma would have been lovely 50 years ago, now it is just an anonymous holiday town but I should hasten to say, perfectly clean & without the dreaded holiday drunks.More

Marie F,

Fantastic week

We went all inclusive and was very impressed with the hotel facilities, food and drink. The room was one of the poshest and best we had ever stayed in. The attention to detail was amazing and the staff were brilliant. Couldn't fault the hotel and would certainly return and recommend the resort to others. We'll doneMore

Chris N,

Good holiday for young families

We stayed on half board basis and used the difference in price (between full board) to fund a room upgrade to a suite, which are located on the third floor and are to a good standard. The hotel was very clean, we enjoyed the main swimming pool, reception was friendly (more useful than the Thomson representative), free daily English newspaper, WiFi worked in our room. The hotel is in an area consisting of two other Protur hotels, the Safari Park (4 star) and the Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa (5 star) along with a shared sports complex and a small water park (La Reserva). You cannot use the other hotel’s swimming pools but you can use their evening entertainment, which I do recommend as entertainment at the Sa Coma Playa is indoors and on a smaller scale. Staying on half board basis provided us with flexibility to take lunch or drinks wherever we wanted and not get bored with having to eat in the hotel’s main restaurant three times a day. We therefore thought the quality and variety of food in the main restaurant was good. My only disappointment was the hotel’s inflexibility to provide access to the main restaurant on the evening of the 7th day, as we arrived at 2320hrs on the first day, so in effect we stayed and paid for 7 nights but only received 6 evening meals. As per the other reviews on Trip Advisor the pool bar food was competitively priced but those on full board basis cannot eat there unless they are willing to pay and there were two ice cream chests, one for full board and another chargeable. Upon check-in you are provided with a piece of paper to request evening meals in one of the other four themed Protur restaurants – Goa (Indian), Asador (Argentinian), La Fontana (Italian) and Country Grill (Tex Mex). Drinks are included in the themed restaurants; the beer/sangria was fine but the red and white wine was not good quality. You receive a letter under the door of your room at least 24 hours before dining at one of these restaurants. The Asador restaurant is located at the water park and we were disappointed with the food on offer. The meat was being cooked but then placed in foil, which was used to replenish the piece taken on the buffet. My wife’s chicken had not been cooked for long enough. Whereas food in the Country Grill (which is located in the grounds of the Safari Park hotel) was of a better quality, the steak came straight off the grill and there were plenty of different wraps, meats, nachos etc. Plenty of shops just outside the hotel that sell swimming floats, drink, snacks etc. There is also a large supermarket called Eroski which is a 10 minute walk away, just ask reception for directions. We thought Sa Coma was purpose built around the beach area and not very picturesque. Other information we would have liked to have known but did not receive at the Thomson Welcome meeting or from a hotel information pack are 1) Entrance to Water Park: Adults 18 Euros, children 9 Euros for those on half board. Includes free food & drink. Limited water slides. We didn’t bother. 2) Safe deposit box: Charge 2 Euros per a day, 5 Euros deposit. I do not understand why there is a charge. Lost an hour trying to understand how to use the safe, asked reception twice, maintenance discovered batteries required changing. 3) Towels for beach/pool: 15 Euros deposit for each towel, but no charge. Can change towels three times a week at reception. 4) Beach: 10 minute walk from hotel. Sun beds are 5 Euros each per a day. Beach was busy when we went. 5) Charge Card: The hotel provides at check-in a card that will allow you to charge drinks and snacks throughout the complex to your room. However, you have to ask for the card to be activated at reception and provide your credit card. You can then settle your total bill at the end of your holiday in one transaction. 6) Swimming Pool: There are sun beds and cabanas all free to use. Plenty of sun beds with no towel reserving necessary in September.More

amazing holiday

My family and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel and I can't fault it. The rooms are immaculate, spacious and spotlessly clean. They have staff everywhere so the all inclusive queuing is kept to a minimum even at busy times we didn't wait for more than a minute or two to be served. Everyone is friendly and helpful, the food is fantastic especially the breakfast and the desserts, chocolate fountain, yummy!!More
