Thomson Kids' Club May to October

Designed for 3 to 11 year olds, Thomson Kids’ Club offers 2 hours of activities, 5 or 6 days a week. And that includes at least 3 evenings. It’s split into sections, with Tots for 3 to 5 year olds, Team for 6 to 8s, and Tribe for 9 to 11s. Best of all, most kids’ clubs activities are completely free. And outside of peak season, there are parent and toddler sessions 3 days a week, too. For your peace of mind, all Thomson Kids’ Club staff have advance DBS checks and hold NVQ Level 2 childcare qualifications. They’re First Aid trained, and there’ll be at least 2 of them on duty at all times. It's In the neighbouring hotel Safari Park.

Top class service!

We stayed at this hotel in August 2014 and it was the first solo break for my daughter and myself without my husband. I was naturally anxious and wrote to the hotel a week or so before to ask for a quiet room (on a previous trip to Mallorca we were opposite a karoke bar). When we arrived at the hotel we were met by Che, the manager, and escorted to a lovely room which also had complimentary wine and chocolates waiting for us. The complex is clean and the food was good and varied. The room was serviced daily and frsh towels supplied, the bathroom was spotless with shower, bath and WC. The pool area was always clean and tidy and we never struggled to get sun beds even though many guests did run down at 7am to reserve theirs. Also the pool area is very quiet is is ideal for a relaxing holiday - no music booming out which is what we like. The only negative I have is the dinner at one of the other restaurants on the complex. We tried to book for the Italian restaurant but it was full so we were booked into the Country Grill, the food was terrible with flies buzzing around plates of fresh fruit and chefs looked bored and filthy. We had a starter and then left to head back to the Playa hotel where we were just in time to get some decent food. I have to give a special mention to Che (as I know other reviewers have), he is brilliant at customer service and managed to make most people feel very special even though the hotel was full. He always had a kind word to say to my daughter and always asked about our day. A true professional! We would definitely return to this hotel, it's just a shame it's not in a prettier location.More

DON'T EVEN CONSIDER BOOKING THIS HOTEL (PART 4)

Yet again thank you to all for another wonderful holiday. We have visited this hotel many times and each time all the staff are totally committed to making our holiday the best in every way. Year after year their standards are maintained or bettered and they all deserve respect for what they do, they know they have it right and keep doing it right. It is a delight to visit every time. I am sure all the staff think that guests are visiting their home, not a hotel, they all make you feel like one of their family. It is so difficult to pick out individuals as they do not have any hierarchy (i.e. management down) they just work together seamlessly and they have got this so, so right. If you don’t believe me just try for yourself. Yet again we have met returning guests, so we are by no means the only ones who value this hotel, and staff for their commitment pride and service. The only complaint I have ever heard on our numerous visits was this year, from someone complaining that the weather was overcast, on one day ‘in October’, believe it or not, I think this is out of Chej or Juan’s control and belongs to a higher management. We all know people who only want to find fault, do not visit this hotel as you will spoil your holiday, looking for something you will not find. Everyone at this hotel should, without exception, be deservedly proud of the standards they constantly achieve and deserve the highest praise and respect for this. How they all manage to give 100% commitment, 100% of the time, is beyond me. We have only been home for 10 days and have already booked another 2 weeks in April, we are just spoilt for anywhere else. So could our second visit be as good as our first? Absolutely!

When you have had one absolutely perfect holiday at a hotel there is always the danger that a second visit might be a disappointment, especially if it is during the last week before the hotel closes for winter. The Protur Sa Coma Playa is all about consistency and the very highest standards of personalised customer service. Our second visit was just as great as our first. The management and staff are brilliant. They treat you as an individual and the managers greet you by your name. We cannot fault all the things that matter. Our room, the whole hotel and grounds were spotlessly clean. There is a huge choice of delicious hot and cold food served at breakfast and dinner and the lunch time bar snacks are very good value and there is good choice. The managers are attentive and the senior manager even brought our bags to the car for us. Chej is brilliant at making you feel welcomed and valued. The whole staff team go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to have a truly relaxing and memorable holiday. I cannot praise them enough. The resort is not the biggest but it has a gently sloping large beach of white sand with crystal clear water to swim in. There are parasols and loungers to hire on the beach if required. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool and it had every facility we wanted. The WiFi could be better but that is a minor gripe and in reality we go to the Protur Sa Coma Playa to get away from it all. The only thing we used the WiFi for was to see when we might be able to book our third visit! If you're looking for a good place to relax and unwind look no further than this hotel. Two visits to the same hotel in one year is a first for us and we are so glad we saved to come back for the second time. It will not be our last. More

Fabulous and Relaxing - again!

My Mum and I paid another visit to this wonderful hotel in early October and we found it is as good as ever. Once again we have come back more refreshed and relaxed than holidays we have had elsewhere. I’ll split this review into two parts – the basic facts then the things that I feel make a real difference. My thoughts on some of the key areas: Room facilities - the rooms are furnished to a high standard and are modern, large and airy. Beds are firm but comfortable and sheets are changed very frequently. There is also a good sized bed settee. A kettle and tea/coffee are supplied even when on half-board which is great (I can’t manage without a cup of tea I get up!) and I’ve not found this often in holiday hotels. The mini-bar can be used as a fridge, as things can be removed if you don’t want to use them. TV gets a good range of English Channels including various BBC channels (CBeebies included!), ITV, and Channel 4. Reception was fine all the time we were there. The safe in room is €2 a day, with €5 deposit Bathrooms are a good size with large walk-in powerful showers. The toiletries supplied are from the attached Biomar spa and are lovely – and they were replaced a number of times during our two weeks. Our room faced the main pool and got afternoon sun. Rooms on the other side (facing the Biomar Spa) had morning sun. This was fine for us being late in the season, but I think it may get a bit too warm in the height of the season. One problem I did have was with the Wi-Fi connection. The speed in reception is fine, but I did struggle to get a strong signal in the room (second floor). Food – We went half-board as we tend to go out during the day. We found the food to be excellent with a good choice. I think you would have to be very picky not to find anything you liked. You can eat really healthily if you wish (loads of salad, fruit and fish) or indulge a little more. There is also a selection of gluten free and vegetarian dishes are clearly labelled. There was a themed menu each night - Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Spanish, English (always included a roast!). The buffet dishes did not get left to get dried up either – even if they were not completely used the staff would remove them and bring fresh if they had been left a while - which does not happen in all hotels. As well as the buffet dishes there is fresh meat and fish on the ‘show’ cooking section, plus an option to have a fresh stir-fry cooked with your choice of ingredients. There a wide variety of desserts many in small individual ‘taster’ portions – mousses, jellies, small cakes etc., plus a cheese table. Breakfast also has a good choice – and the freshly cooked pancakes seemed very popular. I was ‘forced’ to have my favourite Majorcan almond cake at breakfast at least some days (I’d be quite happy to have this as an evening desert as well!) Pools and sun beds – there are two pools, with the smaller one at the front of the hotel being much quieter, which might suit some with small children, or if you want a peaceful spot. The larger pool is excellent and was never crowded while we were there. A new feature this year was a hot tub by the main pool, which was great and very popular. There are plenty of sun beds (which are much more comfortable and adjustable than those on the beach!). As we were late in the season there was no problem with availability. Pool towels can be hired for €15 per towel deposit and changed 3 times a week. Spa - The spa is right next door linked by a covered walkway. The hydro-therapy pool was great – different Jacuzzi areas, bubble beds, water massages from umbrella things pouring water, plus saunas and steam rooms, brilliant for relaxing, especially on a day that is not quite so good weather-wise. Local area – I think that Sa Coma Playa is in an excellent position. It is in a quiet area, on the edge of Sa Coma and also near to the larger Cala Millor. Immediately opposite is a headland (Punta de N’America) which makes an interesting walk to the castle there (there is a cafe at the end to help revive you after the walk!). From here there are fantastic views both towards Cala Millor and Sa Coma and beyond. There are also walks through the woods which form part of the nature reserve on the headland. There are two beaches you can get to quite easily. Walking to the right from the hotel takes you to Sa Coma, then on to S’Illot. The beach this way is about a 10 minute walk and is a beautiful curved bay, with plenty of sunbeds and water sports facilities. There are boat trips available from the end of the bay. Walking the other way takes you to the edge of Cala Millor, with another excellent beach – longer than that in Sa Coma. This flexibility of going to the two beaches is great as depending on which way the wind is blowing you are almost guaranteed a calmer sea! Past Cala Millor you can walk all the way up to Cala Bona, which has a small but interesting port. If you don’t want to walk (it is quite a long walk if it is hot!) there is an open-top bus which runs about every 30 minutes. There are also a land train and taxis can be ordered by the hotel. It is about €5 to Calla Millor and €7-8 to Cala Bona. You can also hire bikes from the Club House on the Protur complex. All of these facilities confirm that the Sa Protur Spa is a good 4 star hotel. However, I think the things that lift it above many other similar hotels are the overall feel of the place and the wonderful staff. The staff seem to genuinely care about all the guests and can't do enough to help. It was so nice to be remembered and welcomed back by many of the staff. I do find it incredible that they must see so many guests each year but even remember our usual drinks! In particular Chej, the manager, is very friendly and welcoming, has time for everyone and is always around and much more visible and involved than managers in other hotels where I have stayed. Each time we have visited we have found many guests who have stayed before and many return again (and again). So it is nice to greet old friends of all nationalities (even though we are sometimes put to shame with our lack of speaking other languages!). The returning guests cover a whole range of ages as well –a reflection on how good Sa Coma Playa is for all types of holidaymakers.
