Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel & Spa  


This place has undergone a minimalist makeover. The revamp comes to the fore in the bedrooms. Accessorised with jewel-hued cushions, trendy headboards and flatscreen TVs, they’re funky in a low-key way. The lobby is an eye-opener, too. It’s a symphony of glass and marble graced with plush sofas and furnishings.

But of course, the décor is only part of the picture. There are the facilities to consider as well. The hotel is part of the bigger Club Protur Sa Coma Resort so, as a guest, you’ve got the pick of quite a range. The biggest draw has to be the Biomar spa which is definitely worth paying a bit extra for. This haven of tranquillity and treatments revolves around saunas, Turkish baths and a pool with water fountains.

It’s all about options when it comes to food, too. Meals are served buffet-style in the main restaurant, and you’ve got plenty of choice elsewhere within the complex. Head to Sa Bodega eatery for tapas, or La Fontana for Italian. And, although it’s not part of the hotel, there’s a Michelin-starred restaurant right next door serving up world-class cuisine – it’s well worth splashing out.

Last but not least is the location. Set along a tree-lined road, the Protur’s a five-minute walk from Sa Coma beach. The town centre is just a little further - 10 minutes or so.

worst holiday we've ever had/ avoid at all costs

arrived here noon on the 19th april 2014, first impressions were good, eventually given the room key card after leaving a deposit of 5 euros for the safe, and another 14 euros for the hire of the safe, and also requested to leave our passports at reception (for some strange reason). on arrival at the room it became apparant we had been given the wrong room, we had paid an additional £147.00 on top of the original holiday price to upgrade to a better room, and we asked for the upper floors with a view, this one came on the ground floor facing a hedgeback directly out of the patio doors, this then backed onto the car park for the hotel next door.(quite noisey) after visiting the lobby to question the room we were told the manager would deal with this and attend our room within 15 to 20 mins, after 2 1/2 hours passed i then visited again only to be told we had the correct room and that the manager had actually rang back to tomson's directly and spoke to the manager who also verified this. we then rang tompsons ourselves too and spoke to the manager called jane who verified we were the only over sea's call her office had received that day and she had not received a call from any manager. she then looked into the matter on our behalf but unfortunatley couldn't do much as she was in england and we were in spain, but did inform us she had sent a email to the office in majorca informing them of our situation and marked it as urgent, she then also asked us to contact the rep for this resort. this we did at 6pm that evening met the rep called kirsty and we spent 2 1/2 hours negotiating with her and the hotel but got no where, the hotel said we could pay a further £472.50 if we would like to upgrade from our room for the rest of the stay, but totally dis-regarded our plea showing we had actually alreday paid for this when booking the holiday in england with tomsons, at this point we were left stuck with a no win situation, so i made the decision to get our family home asap, that evening i tried to gain internet connection to try and look for a way home, but there is no internet connection in the rooms even though it states there is, you can get this only in the lobby and have to pay for it to obtain the username and password. so again we paid, and then luckily found 3 seats on the easyjet flight home on the monday morning, we snapped them up but then fell short as we needed to print the boarding passes off, so we then awaited the visit to the hotel the following morning from the tomson's rep (kirsty) she said we've had to wait 20 mins as she had a welcome meeting to attend, but wouldn't be long, again a 1 1/2 later we were still waiting, so decided enough was enough, so left. luckily we made contact with easyjet who said they'll sort everything at the airport the next morning so don't worry. so all that we had to do was arrange transport for the hour or so journey to palma airport, luckily we got a nice taxi driver but it came at a cost, some 89.00 euros. but at last we were away from this place, so to sum it all up, be very careful when looking at staying here, they actually ripped us off, wanting to charge us twice to upgrade the room, the man on reception lied to our face stating the manager had called tompsons when he hadn't, the tompsons rep wasn't to great let me say, there's no internet in the rooms, there's no satellite tv, there's actually no tv in any other language than spanish, as the tv's are locked on the spanish language (check my photo the camera dosn't lie) whilst your on reading this please look at the pictures i've loaded up, they show the patio door handle and the patio door lock that neither did not work, you could not lock your room, and even if you put the passports/money ect in the safe i noticed even this could be lifted out by turning 4 screws 90 degrees, how the hell could you feel at ease staying here, it was no where near a 4 star hotel, a mere 3 star if your lucky. avoid it like the plague.More

This is how to run a hotel

The family holiday we had at this hotel was, without doubt the best we have ever had. This is why: -Exceptionally friendly and efficient staff led by the best senior hotel manager we have come across in Chej -Spotlessly clean throughout with first class facilities including the adjoining Spa (extra cost but worth it in our view) -Delicious and varied food with every meal offering something different (loved the choose-your-own-ingredients Chinese food) -First class entertainment led by Martin who spent his time making sure all the guests were having a great time, a man with a great sense of humour This was a special trip for us with our adult children to celebrate our Pearl Wedding Anniversary and we will always remember this holiday for all the right reasons. We will be booking to return again. This is how to make your guests feel welcome and valued and a lot of UK hotels should book a trip to see how the very best do things. best holiday ever

My daughter and I have just returned from this resort, as Martin the entertainment staff would say "its amazing", we both had so much fun. Rooms were spot on, food was of a good standard and plentiful. We went all inclusive and it was definitely good value for money. All staff from cleaners to waiters worked extremely hard to make our holiday really memorable. We were both sad to leave and shall return at some point. Life friends were made here, this is one holiday that will be hard to beat. Hotel management hold your heads up with pride and never stop doing what you are all clearly doing so well. Great for young families!

Me and my family stayed at this hotel in August 2013. We booked two twin rooms which happened to be on the third floor. The rooms were great with brilliant air conditioning and a lovely bathroom. The staff at the hotel were lovely, polite and one of the reasons so many of the other guests we spoke to were recurring faces. The buffet was excellent. Perfect for fussy and adventurous eaters alike with no need to stress about booking into a restaurant - in my opinion it isn't worth it. The pool however, was littered with towels before breakfast had even began which apparently was not permitted by the hotel but nobody seemed to care. This meant that we had to get up early to find sun beds and look on as so many poor people couldn't sit down as other guests weren't turning up until the afternoon. The pools tended to be on the cool side and there seemed to be a lot of chlorine in the pool which started to irritate after a while. At peak times the pool was extremely crowded with people including myself being kicked in numerous places per day. The drinks were on the pricey side for those who are full board but there are many shops down the road with chap water and snacks which are very easy to sneak into the hotel. The beach is lovely for a walk, the spa is great and there are plenty of excursions I sadly missed out on but overall, you shouldn't get bored. On the whole if your not big swimmer then you'll love this place!More
