If you’re looking for somewhere bright, breezy and beside the seaside, the Coma Gran will tick the boxes with quite some style.

It’s one of our Familyclub Xtra properties, so it lays on a whole package of entertainment. For the young ones, there’s a crèche, a playground and a Thomson kids’ club, where our reps organise games for 3 to 12-year-olds six days a week. And that’s not counting our Stage Academy for budding stars and a Soccer School for wannabe Beckhams.

Adults get a good look-in, too. Head to the sauna to steam away those stresses or hit the treadmills in the gym. Or enjoy some time out beside the pool. Shaped like a cartoon speech bubble, it’s surrounded by sunny terraces furnished with comfy sunloungers, and palms. There’s an open-air pool bar here, too, so you can gather everyone together for lunchtime snacks and drinks just inches from the water’s edge.

Talking of food, guest on half board, can look forward to generous buffet breakfasts and dinners, which feature show-cooking stations and a special children’s menu.

As for the rooms, there’s a choice of studios and one and two-bedroom apartments. Fresh and spacious, they’ve been recently refurbished and are nicely turned out with modern wood furnishings, tiled floors and modern kitchenettes. Each one has a balcony, too.

The location takes some beating as well. Sa Coma’s beach is a minute’s walk away – and is all soft sand and shallows, making it perfect for sandcastles and paddling. And there’s a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops nearby.

This is our 6th visit to this hotel, only not going last year because our daughter was born. It is still as great as ever (we dare not go anywhere else as we know it wouldn't be as good). It is perfect for children, us adults get a real break... more on this review
