Hotel Pollentia

This whitewashed hotel is just across from the beach and close to bus routes that open up Majorca’s north and northwest coasts.

From the front steps of the Hotel Pollentia, you can take in the Bay of Pollensa, where white sands gives way to the Balearic Sea. Expand your line of vision and you’ll see the masts of the yachts in Port de Pollensa marina, a kilometre along the coast, and the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range in the distance.

The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the main square in Puerto Pollensa, which is orbited by almost 100 cafés, bars and restaurants. It’s about the same distance to The Pine Walk, a promenade where locals stroll in the evenings. There are a number of bus stops a few metres from the hotel and there’s a bus timetable in reception, where you can check your routes.

Behind the hotel’s whitewashed walls there are 70 bedrooms, spread over several floors. The décor in the rooms is typically Spanish, with tiled floors and dark-wood furniture, while blue bedspreads and velvet bucket chairs add splashes of colour.

Outside, you'll find a swimming pool. It's set in a sunny terrace, and edged by smart navy-blue loungers and ivory umbrellas. There's a paddling pool for children, too.

Expect international cuisine in the buffet restaurant. It's got a terrace area, where the tables look out over the sea. The hotel bar also has a sea-view terrace, with comfy wicker chairs, and it puts on regular evening entertainment.

Stayed at the hotel for a week in August. Lovely location opposite a fantastic beach. Hired two sun beds and an umbrella every day and really enjoyed the sun and sea. Hotel in need of updating but our room was acceptable but much smaller than what we are used to. Breakfast and dinner was quite good with enough selection to provide a decent meal. Would probably return one day as we like Pollencia enormously.More

Beautiful location, but

My husband and I have just returned after 2 weeks at this hotel and felt that a week to 10 days would have been quite sufficient. The location is ideal, staff are a credit to the hotel. The food was ok, did ask if an omelette would be possible at breakfast - wanted to charge extra 3 euros as it wasn't part of the normal breakfast buffet! Did miss not having cooking stations cooking food fresh in front of you. Only had one lunch - pizza very thin and a bit on the crispy side! The room: basic, clean, small bathroom, paid extra for use of safe, no fridge or tea making facilities, tiled floors making it very noisey, especially when people wear heeled shoes! There was air conditioning but had a hard time coping with the temperature. Did have a small problem with ants and if there were fridges it would reduce this problem because you wouldn't be encouraging with food/drinks being left in the open. The biggest problem was the bed!! Oh boy was it hard and there were no mattress toppers available - the best we could come up with was to fold a wool blanket under the bottom sheet, which had little effect! Entertainment was not too bad, alternated between the Pollentia and its sister hotel the Uyal just a few doors down. Swimming pool is small with a small child's pool with not a lot of space for beds and umbrellas, some of which need replacing or repaired, but the beach is nicer. Two loungers and umbrella on the beach costs 12.50 euros a day, we bought rush mats, lilo and large umbrella for about 22 euros!! Most of the Spar shops and local supermarkets do fresh rolls lunchtimes for the beach, 2 cost 3.90. Most evenings we went to the Ancla (Anchor) bar restaurant (next to Hotel Romantico) prices better than hotel and a lovely atmosphere - the food is good too! Unfortunately got ill 2nd week with cough, ended up with chest infection and my husband came down with same! Puerto Pollensa is a fabulous resort and will return - but not necessarily to this hotel - sorry!More

value for money

My sister and I have just returned from two weeks in this hotel, (16.08.14) this being our second visit. As many have commented, the hotel is a little dated. But, it does offer what we need. It is very clean. The food is good quality and plenty of choice. A small fridge in the room would be useful. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. We met several returning guests and had some great fun together. We will be returningMore

Hotel Pollentia

Overall we had a very nice holiday at the Pollentia. Just a few niggles regarding our stay. I booked our holiday with Jet2holidays in January this year paying for a room with sea view/balcony. Unfortunately when we got to the hotel we were allocated room 306 which has the sea view but no balcony. There are only three rooms without a balcony at the front and last year we were allocated the same room even though we went with a different tour operator. I tried to upgrade our room but Reception were not particularly forthcoming and just said that there were no other rooms available. After further questioning I found out that unless you book with Thomas Cook or Thomsons you are not guaranteed a room with a balcony which seems a little unfair. Room 306 is definitely in need of an upgrade and we had ants in the room and in the bed on one night! To be fair the cleaning staff were great and sorted the problem out very promptly. The other annoying fact is that you cannot charge anything to your room, ie. drinks, lunches etc. This means that you have to pay as you go which, when the bar is busy, can mean waiting around to get your bill/change etc. We have stayed at their superior sister hotel the Uyal which is much better organised and there you can charge refreshments to your room. So I think if we return to this resort, we will definitely go back to the Uyal and also all rooms with sea view have a balcony.More

Fabulous Holiday - just returned

I stayed at the Pollentia with my husband and daughter - our friends also stayed with their child. On arrival very late at night we were given a lovely meal and drinks which was great after a long trip. Our accommodation was a good size - we had 3 beds, air con, good size bathroom with bidet and balcony with views of beach and pool. The staff were brilliant, the rooms were cleaned daily and they were all really helpful. The food was good also and they were accommodating at seating us with our friends. There was good choice of hot and cold for breakfast and dinner. My only gripes were the beds which i found really uncomfortable altho my husband and daughter slept fine, and the wifi - we only found one area in the hotel we could use it near reception. A fab hotel for location, food and staff tho i definately recommend !More
