4 night break in March

The hotel is chic and stylish. Our room with a sea view was immaculate and cleaned meticulously.Lovely staff who were both friendly & helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good and the chef would cook 'a full English'.Puerto Portals is an upmarket marina and the hotel is about 100 metres from a bus stop.In one direction there is a regular bus service-which does get busy although there is a relief bus following at certain times-to Palma bus station which is adjacent to the main railway station and close to the dedicated railway station to Soller. In the opposite direction buses will take you to Peguera via other resorts. Our favourite trips were to the village of Valldemossa and in Palma itself to the old Arab quarter and the nearby La Lonja district.Weather can be iffy in March-we had 1 wet day and 4 dry but we found the ambient temperature warmer than the UKMore

Nice modern hotel

My father and I shared a room on the second floor as part of a golf trip. We could see the sea in one direction, but it was about 400 meters away and quite a few buildings in between. Getting the air-conditioning/heating to work properly did not seem easy, it was a bit warm at night, but opening the door to the balcony worked well. We had dinner twice in the "private dining" area where they serve breakfast. The meals were delicious and not too heavy. Breakfast was quite varied with lots of fruit, otherwise ranging from Cava to pancakes and from Yogurt to chocolate croissants. One specialty was that they referred to fried eggs in an unusual way: An egg fried on both sides (eg flipper) was called "Sunny side up". To get an egg fried only on one side with the yellow still loose you should ask for: "Fried Egg".More

Good for short stays

This was my first stay at the hotel, having booked it because my usual hotel, The Marina Portals, shuts in the winter. The OD Portals is easy enough to find. I had booked a standard room through Expedia and their website stated that standard rooms had terrace or balcony. I had requested a room on an upper floor as I had read reviews saying that the view was better. On arrival I was told that my room was on the 2nd floor. I asked for a room higher up but was told that all standard rooms were on the 2nd floor. I also asked for confirmation that the room had a balcony or terrace and was told that standard rooms did not have them. Deluxe rooms did, but I would have to pay an extra €50 per night. Not a great start. The room, whilst modern, nicely decorated and clean, had a 'box-room' feel about it with uninspiring views over a car park. I checked the internet and confirmed that my booking with Expedia was for a standard room with balcony/terrace. I returned to reception but they just shrugged and said standard rooms did not have balconies. I asked them to call Expedia and after 45 minutes they agreed to upgrade me to a Deluxe Room at no cost to me. The hotel couldn't care either way but luckily Expedia accepted that I should get what I booked. I was given another key and went to move my luggage. The Deluxe Room was lovely and had a balcony. There was a note on Reception offering a free shuttle service to Puerto Portals and I asked to use it at 8pm. No, they said. 9pm? No. Tomorrow evening at any time? No. On the plus side, on my last morning I went to breakfast and asked for two coffees to take up to my room. When I put them on the table I miscalculated and dropped them both on the floor. I returned to the restaurant and they gave me two more coffees at no extra charge and sent a (lovely) cleaner to my room. In summary, the hotel is rather soulless and clinical. The staff really don't seem to care much about whether their guests are happy or not. It's ok for a two night business trip but definitely not (in my opinion) for any longer. Next trip I shall return to the ultra-friendly Marina Portals.More

Modern, boutique-style hotel

We really enjoyed staying here. It's not far to the centre of Palma and a local bus stops outside. The room was very clean, comfortable and bright with a good sea view. The staff were young ,very pleasant and helpful, especially Carmen at breakfast. Our only disappointment was that the restaurant did not open in the evenings in February but there were several restaurants nearby. We would definitely recommend it for an out of season break.More

Nice and modern Hotel with relaxed atmosphere

Very nice and modern hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable with really nice beds and the AC is working great in rooms. Love the breakfast, its small but has everything you need and it´s luxury to be able to order hot dishes like scrambled eggs and have it served at the table. At first sight and first time you visit the hotel the location can seems a "little off" and boring, but the location is great! Just a short walk to the harbour and lovely beach. Also perfect to take a powerwalk or jogging at the sidewalk up to Palma Nova or longer. Along this way you can also stroll along the beachside and find lovely small beaches. OD Port Portals is also in perfect location to catch the bus to Palma or you can afford a taxi. The Hotel also has a pool with sunbeds around it. Also have to mention the great staff and their great efford of service no matter what. Inma & Amelia and their colleagues are so nice and friendly and never hesitate to give you recommendations for restaurants and nice spots:) We have visited Hotel OD Port Portals at two times with our kids and we will soon go their again!More
