The OD Port Portals has style in spades, with contemporary interiors, an elegant à la carte, and a smart pool scene. It’s also bagged a great location – close to a couple of beaches and next door to Puerto Portals marina.

This brand new, design-led hotel sits in the town of Portals Nous, on Majorca’s south-west coast. A 5-minute walk brings you to the yacht-filled Puerto Portals marina, where you’ll find designer boutiques, cocktail bars and top-class restaurants. You’re 5 minutes’ walk from a pair of sandy beaches, too, and Majorca’s capital is only a 15-minute drive away.

The hotel’s décor is contemporary, with an Art Deco twist. Rooms are dressed in muted shades of grey, cream and taupe, and come with extras like free Wi-Fi and LED TVs. Downstairs, meanwhile, you’ll find designer furniture and quirky sculptures. There’s also a bar, and a smart à la carte restaurant with a menu of Mediterranean, Asian and Latin American dishes.

Outside, you’ll find the pool. It’s set into a roomy sun terrace which is laid out with loungers and chic white parasols.

Best kept secret?

Stayed at this hotel from 14th-18th of July. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, i'll sum up in points rather than babbling. *Staff(especially on reception) are fabulous, always smiling and happy to help. *Stayed in room 208, good size, lovely furnishings, nice modern bathroom and rainforest shower. (A tip with the mini fridge, if you leave the cupboard door open where the fridge is it gets a lot cooler). Hairdryer not the best but not the worst either. *Drinks in mini fridge are complimentary *Bar staff great with finding you a cocktail, large selection of drinks available. *Beautiful food, one of the best club sandwiches i've ever tasted, and I'm a club sandwich expert! *Great location, within walking distance of the marina, we also walked from Palma Nova to the hotel at night, 30min walk. *Ok, there are only 20 sun beds for 70+ rooms, and they do get snapped up pretty quickly….. BUT….i found lying on the grass a little better. The sun beds can't be adjusted so you can't really lie flat on them. There are trees around the grass so you can grab some shade too. *Waiter service at the pool. *Pool and surrounding area are all a lovely stone, no nasty slippery tiles. Pool isn't huge but more than adequate, 1.20m all areas, no 'deep end'. *Check in and checkout were painless, although room wasn't ready until 2:45 we didn't really mind. *Very fast, FREE wifi also a bonus, can pick up strong signals in room or by the pool. Will definitely stay here again, although i think the price will start to increase as its most certainly one of the best in the area.More

Kerrie L,

Little gem in Majorca

Me and my wife have had a short stay over a long weekend on our anniversary. This hotel is a little gem that you cant find a lot of! The room we have had, had a view of the sea and a balcony, perfect for coffee in the morning. Rooms very spacious, nicely designed. Not crammed with stuff but seems thought through. We have asked for double bed but got twin instead, couldn't swap due to availability, yet those were very spacious and comfortable. We feel that the in room amenities are of a very good taste and the free first use of minibar was great. However the best part of the stay was the food served. Taste and presentation have definitely outdone many rosette star restaurant we have dinned in before. You have to try sea salt coated salmon and burger trio with a local selections of beers. We missed in room tea/coffee making facility to have a cuppa on the balcony and the hair dryer was of very low quality. Definitely recommended.More

Highly recommended

Just got back from a weeks stay in this hotel. We upgraded to a junior suite on the 6th floor with a stunning view over port Portals. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had at any hotel with a choice of cooked and buffet food. There are not enough sun beds but the excellent manager Mar Soler assured us this matter is in hand. As usual selfish guests put their towels on to reserve beds and then went off and left them unattended. I suggest if you see this at any hotel you just move onto the sun bed and use it. We had an evening meal on Thursday this week and the quality was superb and I recommend the Majorcan Merlot wine. We toured the island in one of the hotels Smart cars that come with the junior suites at the moment and after some of the bad publicity that Majorca has suffered recently our eyes were opened by the stunning towns and villages such as Deia and Valldemossa. The staff were always very friendly and did their best to make our stay a good one and as I said above Mar the general manager always found time for a chat to make sure all was well. We will return and are already looking forward to our next visit.More

A Gem of an Hotel

Don't tell anyone about this hotel, I want it kept secret so that it is as good next time we go! Fantastic accommodation, charming staff (every one of them), excellent food. Ok, they're short of sun beds and they do need to stop selfish people laying a towel out on one and then disappearing but hey, if you can't beat them join them. Apparently, they do have more on order. Newly opened and not completed outside, but what they've got so far is nothing short of excellent. Absolutely nothing that would interest children. Isn't that great! If you have children, don't go there. They'll make yours and more importantly, my life a misery. Perfect for couples who want peace and quiet with no kids around. A short walk from a beautiful Marina, exclusive shops and a couple of small beaches. We will be going back as often as we can, provide it stays as good as it is now. Next time we'll probably upgrade to a junior suite, a deal which includes a Smart Car to use during your stay. Sneaked up to the roof for a peak at what is to become a rooftop bar. (As I said, it's not finished yet) but the whole roof has artificial grass on the floor. I'm sure it will be lovely. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. Also a thank you to Voyage Prive for handling the booking. The arrangements were flawless.More

Nothing short of excellent

I stayed here for 5 days and on the peultimate day I had my bag stolen on the Marineland beach with everything in it. Money, cards, camera and stupidly my passport was in it, The hotel manageress and staff were nothing short of brilliant as soon as they found out. They took me to the police with a lovely receptionist to translate, they gave us drinks and let us use the hotel phone to make all the necessary phone calls and then took us to Palma to the British Consulate and helped sort out photos and an emergency passport. They also took us to Western Union to get emergency cash. Fortunately I had a spare credit card in the hotel but before she knew this the manageress said do not worry about your bill, we trust you to pay when you get home. I cannot praise the staff of this hotel enough in making a traumatic ordeal bearable. God bless you all. They deserve all the accolades on this site!More
