Aparthotel Alcudia Pins

Families have it covered at this beachside hotel, with its children’s splash park and choice of pools.

Water plays a big part at this hotel. It’s right by the sea, plus there are 2 pools, including a big, lake-style number. There’s a children’s splash park, too. On the dining front, there are 4 restaurants, including a tapas place.

This aparthotel is right on a golden-sand beach. The nearest bars and restaurants are less than a 5-minute walk away, and it’s about the same time in a taxi to C’an Picafort’s main drag.

Relaxing break in the sun.

Returned on Saturday (01/11/14) from a lovely relaxing week at the Alcudia Pins. We had a double family room with a (stunning) sea view. Initially we were a bit disappointed with the room itself - a bit cramped, tired decor and a sofa bed in the living area for the kids (thankfully they provided a cot for our 2 year old - I'm not sure how she'd have managed on the sofa bed. However, we understand that all the rooms are being refurbished for next year so don't let that put you off! As other have said the childrens entertainment team are fabulous The main shows are fun but undeniably cheesy and gets a bit samey if you go every night but our little girl was in her element dancing and clapping along. I would definitely recommend it for families with younger children, however our 10 year old son (who considers himself way too cool for the kids entertainment) was a bit bored in the evenings. As it was the very last week of the season the hotel was pretty quiet. There are advantages and disadvantages to this - no queues at the bar/buffet, no fighting for sunbeds, nice chilled out atmosphere, but - gradually decreasing choices of food & entertainment. The location on the beach is fabulous with gorgeous views of the whole of Alcudia Bay, the sea is very shallow and safe for children - and pretty warm for October. In response to a couple of things other reviewers have said - yes the pools are freezing at this time of year! - We only noticed a bad smell on one evening after there had been some rain - it was pretty vile but it didn't last long. yes - the hotel is in a quieter area (which is exactly why I chose it) but it is very easy to get to Alcudia/C'an Picafort if thats what you want. I thought the food choice was very good (fabulous paellas especially) - however towards the end of the week they obviously were running down the stock and the choice did become more limited. If I was to return here again (which I'd love to) I'd probably aim for May/June - I imagine that way you keep the quieter atmosphere without the freezing pool and the feeling that the hotel is gradually closing down around you!More

Excellent family hotel but Pool too cold for young children

We've just returned from a weeks holiday at the Alcudia Pins and thoroughly enjoyed out holiday. Food was great. Entertainment was good, apartment was fine and service on the whole very friendly, very approachable and generalluy very very good. All round everything was as we expected, except, and I'm afraid its a big excepetion.........the pools are not heated, so in my opinion unsuitable for use by young children and toddlers (especially the baby pool and toddler pool which are almost always in the shade and therefore get no heat from the sun most of the day. I myself found the pool ok (but not for long) but chilly but there is no way I'd let my toddler in there, and my 9 year old (unlike many other kids there) refused to go in, instead we favoured the beach as the sea was warmer. I imagine in June/July/August the pool would be warmer, but in October i wouldn't return for a pool based holiday on this issue alone. With a heating system installed i would definetly be back!More

Just a little bit loud

We stayed in Alcudia Pins in mid September. Our room was one flight above the reception area and we found the room to be very clean and spacious with a very large balcony that overlooked the drive up to the hotel. This was good for us as the noise coming from the pool areas could be quite loud. The maid service was good, with clean towels when needed and beds changed every other day. We found the food to be good at both self service restaurants as well as having an excellent variety to choose from. We did on a couple of occasions try to book the Tavern by the sea but we were too late each time we tried. A better system would be better to give as many customers a chance to eat there. When booking this holiday I did so without researching it too much. This is definitely a family holiday location so you need to expect a lot of young kids which unfortunately can be extremely loud and some being totally unruly. This really put me off this hotel and the main reason I never gave it 5 stars. We are used to couples holidays these days and enjoy peaceful relaxing noise free environments. That's just us though. The entertainment is mainly geared up for the kids so we tended to go out of the hotel at night. The service at the bars in the main was very good. There always quite a few people at the bar but you never waited long to be served. The hotel is located right on the beach front and the water was lovely for swimming in. I have filmed a walk through of the Alcudia Pins Hotel and beach front area and you are more than welcome to view it at the following link http://youtu.be/4kl9Hb4oXYo If you can't click on the link then just copy and paste it in to your browser address bar.More

Nice place but very busy in the peak season

Nice enough hotel, food not bad, great for kids especially boys who like football. Entertainment was focused on very young kids and the adult stuff was largely quite silly aside of one night when they managed to put together something quite professional and entertaining. However, one struggled to get a decent lounger around the pool, or near the sea view. The wine was average, not worth a second glass, but by Alcudia standards not bad. The beach was great however, though youhad to pay for the longers there separately. Go outside of schools hols; check when the market in Alcudia is open - only on certain days. A part from the market, there's not much for kids to do. Rooms near the pool and entertainment area are very very loud.More

Premium prices for a reduced service

We stayed here October half term 2014. Family with 3 young children. The hotel was clearly shutting down for the year, services started to reduce during the week we stayed to the point where there was absolutely no entertainment the day before we flew home. This was particularly poor for a Saturday night. The choice of food at the buffet restaurant gradually reduced to the point where it felt like they were using up left overs - sausages seen at breakfast reappeared for lunch now mixed with peppers. The grill restaurant was shut throughout. The slush machine for the kids 'broke' early on and was never replaced. The kids entertainment was ok, but they do a silly thing in the evening where kids club runs 6-8, the same time as the buffet restaurant is open for evening meal - so you have to choose to feed or entertain them! There is no other option for food after 4pm (unless you count a few poor cakes) which is poor for all inclusive. By just after 8 they are taking away the serving utensils which means you pretty much have to leave the restaurant. They ran out of ice-cream tubs and were serving up scoops in plastic glasses. It really did feel like using up last bits and pieces. The hotel is nicely situated right on the beach and there are some nice features for kids with the small shallow pools with slides (except the removed the sun beds near this pool at the end to stack them away!) but when you pay a premium price to go here in half term you don't expect only half a service. I dare say this hotel is lovely during the summer but I would actively discourage anyone going later in the year as you will be disappointed.More
