Aparthotel Alcudia Pins

Loading

Families have it covered at this beachside hotel, with its children’s splash park and choice of pools.

Water plays a big part at this hotel. It’s right by the sea, plus there are 2 pools, including a big, lake-style number. There’s a children’s splash park, too. On the dining front, there are 4 restaurants, including a tapas place.

This aparthotel is right on a golden-sand beach. The nearest bars and restaurants are less than a 5-minute walk away, and it’s about the same time in a taxi to C’an Picafort’s main drag.

Room for improvement

We stayed all inclusive for 2 weeks from 17th August - 31st August and were 7 adults with 6 children staying in 3 rooms. The hotel itself is situated on an amazing beach, with clear blue seas which you walk out into without it getting too deep. The location has to be the biggest plus for me. The hotel is set out over 9 large buildings and its probably one of the largest I've been to and too big for me. The pools are large and very busy and we spent most of our time on the beach but from what I saw, if you're a pool person, be prepared to be squashed in like cattle. ROOMS - these were OK but very small, we were in the Ibiza block and had a partial sea view. There is a lack of storage space and the beds very uncomfortable. The sofa beds were OK for our 8 and 5 year olds but any older and I think they'd have struggled with them. They were cleaned 5 out of 7 days but did occasionally forget to leave towels and toilet rolls but this was quickly rectified. FOOD - eating is split between the buffet restaurant and the Green & Grill. You get a slip of paper at checkin which says what days you have to eat in which restaurant. The buffet always felt like a cattle market, very busy and not big enough to accomodate the large number of guests. The food itselft was good but it did get a bit repetitive. The Green & Grill was on the sea front so got very windy but again, the food area wasn't big enough for the number of guests. The food was OK in here but there wasn't as much choice and we frequently had food which was undercooked such as burgers and kebabs. At busy times the food wasn't replenished quickly enough and queues often built up waiting for omlettes or burgers. Crockery was frequently running out and you'd often find then replacing it with crockery straight from the dishwasher so would get hot bowls for the icecream!!! I didn't feel as though there were enough choices of places to eat for the high number of guests. There were other places to eat, ie the Tavern by the Sea but you could only eat there once a week and it was a limited tapas menu so may not be suitable for everyone. There is also a BBQ restaurant but you have to pay for that with 25% discount. I think it would have been much better if the Tavern by the Sea and the BBQ were included in the All Inclusive package to give more choice and make the restaurants less busy. Generally, the food is good but its just too busy. ENTERTAINMENT - I'm not sure what Thomsons or First Choice are thinking of when it comes to entertainment. I've travelled with both companies on many occasions and have in the past seen some fantastic acts providing real entertainment. They seem to have moved to having a team of entertainers who are on stage every night and whilst I'm sure they work hard it wasn't entertainment like they used to have. Please Thomson bring back the acrobats and real entertainers. KIDS CLUB - I won't comment on this as none of our kids went to Kids Club but from what I saw they seemed to be having a good time. STAFF - there were some very good and friendly staff, Donato and Michel Angel to name a few, they were always friendly and smiling but others were down right rude and miserable. We did have a couple of complaints about service, hygene and foul smells which were dealt with by Juan the Customer Service Manager and he was very good so thank you for attemtping to resolve our issues. Unfortunately some of the staff need a good course in Customer Service skills. RESORT - There isn't much nearby apart from a handful of shops, there is a land train which runs hourly outside the hotel but I don't think it goes out of the resort. If you like a nice evening walk Puerto Pollensa is much much nicer. GENERAL - The beach is the biggest + for this hotel, the food was good and the drinks and cocktails very good. We did have a good holiday but only because we were in a large group and made our own entertainment, the hotel was just too big for me but thats a personal thing. The frequent smells of sewage both around the hotel and on the beach were also quite off putting too but I'm not sure what anyone can do about that. It was very windy whilst we were there which made it feel cooler than it was so watch out as the sun was very hot, 38 degress at times. Despite all my negative points, we have had a good family holiday but we won't be returning to this hotel anytime soon as there are too many other places to explore.More

Far too busy - Packed in like sardines

I don't normally write feedback like this but after spending what I thought was a reasonable amount of money for a reasonable deal - I can see that this was not the case and don't want other hard working families to suffer the same fate. The hotel, staff and food were in general great albeit the restaurant could have don't with 20-30 tables less so as you could actually get to your table let alone with 2 small children The evening entertainment was also good, again same goes with the tables and packing everyone in. We moved table every night due to every other person smoking and choking us all even when outside the air was a haze. The all inclusive was generally good, the lager was terrible. Suggest half board would be best if you have a young family The pool, sunbeds were packed, if you hadn't had breakfast, got 2 children ready and were down by 0900am then forget it. The hotel room was very small, we booked a family room with limited sea view, the family rooms had pictures of bunk beds - don't book one with a sea view because apparently the sea view family rooms don't come with bunk beds - the lounge is converted in to a pull out sofa bed (not great for a 2 & 5 year old) The flight and flight team both in bound and outbound were exceptional. We won't be returning to this hotel.More

Parkie101,

Great for families

We stayed in two bed apartment overlooking the pool. Self catering facilities were great, complimentary tea, coffee and sugar and a bottle of water in fridge on arrival. The balcony was huge. Our 3 children loved the pools and the location next to the beach is brilliant. Staff are constantly cleaning around the pool areas and taking water samples from the pools. On the days your apartment is not cleaned they still come to take rubbish away and leave extra loo rolls! Yes it was busy, we stayed 29 July til 12 August but our children always found room in the pools to play. There are some lovely restaurants a five min walk away and we found the bbq grill on the hotel grounds lovely. I would definitely recommend staying here. In fact we have already booked again for next year!More

Good family hotel.

We 3 adults 2 kids(3 & 7) have just returned from 2 weeks AI at this hotel. We were worried from the reviews on here about the hotel from room sizes to food choices but there was no need to be. The 2 bedroomed apartment was bigger than I imagined and had a large balcony. Our room was in D block overlooking the quiet pool and at night had a view of the stage for the shows. The shows were loud at night but the kids still went to sleep with them going on and they nearly always finished at 11pm. The entertainment was hit and miss. The Thomson team were a hit with the kids with the kennel club (no more 'let it go' from the kids though) but the other team catering for the Scandinavian guests were a big miss! Food and drink was plentiful with lots of choice (meats, fish, salads and most important desserts and cakes) in the main buffet. The green and grill is smaller with less choice at lunch (burgers, salads and pizzas) but still all well cooked however we declined the invite to eat there in the evening opting for the main buffet instead. The pins is located outside of Playa de Muro ( 25 min walk ) and about 40 minute walk along the beach (past the naturists) to C'an Picafort. Plenty of cheap buses if you don't want to walk off the desserts though. Alcudia old town nice for a trip too. All in all a good hotel I would recommend to families. I would say its better than the condessa de Bahia we stayed at two years ago. More

Frostily,

Fabulous Holiday!!!!!

We stayed here for 10 days (16-26 August). What can I say - the boys had a blast. Fabulous food (I've never seen my youngest eat so much!!!). Never had to wait for a table, and at the bar it was never more than a minute wait - even at night time. I think the idea of not reserving sun beds is great. I was up early but always saw the men going round and taking the towels off the beds if they were unattended. The only thing that I didn't like was the entertainment at night - specifically the Swedish rep shows. I'm sure they're great kids reps, but singers they are not. That's just a minor quibble tho. I'd go back to this hotel in a heartbeat, and my boys are asking if we are going back next year. We stayed in the I block ( Esperanto ~ I think) the boys had bunk beds and there were 2 single beds and also the sofas could've been used as beds too. We were only in the room to sleep anyway but we were more than happy with it. More
