Aparthotel Alcudia Pins

Families have it covered at this beachside hotel, with its children’s splash park and choice of pools.

Water plays a big part at this hotel. It’s right by the sea, plus there are 2 pools, including a big, lake-style number. There’s a children’s splash park, too. On the dining front, there are 4 restaurants, including a tapas place.

This aparthotel is right on a golden-sand beach. The nearest bars and restaurants are less than a 5-minute walk away, and it’s about the same time in a taxi to C’an Picafort’s main drag.

Great holiday for families!

I have just come home from a 7-night stay at the Alcudia Pins 5/9-12/9. It was my first 7-night holiday (I usually book 14 nights) and I was very excited to go. I went with my husband- we are a childless couple in our late 20's- and we had a good time. Upon arrival in the small hours of the morning, my husband and I were told which one of the many blocks to go to for our room, but were not told how to get there. Luckily we were in block D, which is close to the reception building. All throughout the week I had mixed feelings about the holiday. The hotel is clean and the rooms are all very spacious so no complaints there. The pools were great and well looked after. The hotel is situated right on the beach- which I admit sounded amazing- but the amount of sand that people brought back with them and refused to rinse their feet off was quite large. It seemed that sand ended up all around the pool, making it look muddy at times throughout the day and somehow I always had some in my bed! I have absolutely no problem with children (my husband and I want some of our own), but I was not aware of how much this hotel was centered around the children. There were 3 specific pools for them (which were great) and the entertainment was almost purely for them. If you have children under 8, then this is the hotel for you. The entertainment team were outstanding- they really love their jobs. This is not a childless couple-friendly hotel. The amount of children outnumber the adults. I wouldn't have minded the screaming til the early hours if there was at least one bar a quick stroll away from the hotel to escape to, but there isn't. We had to take the 15 minute bus ride into Alcudia in order to do that. We went "All Inclusive", but to me that was questionable. I have never been to a hotel where I had no choice but to buy coffee in the day and had to pay money towards most alcoholic drinks on the bar menu. There were a few that were 100% free, but most of them were not. However, the food was amazing. There was a lot of choice at all meals with breakfast being my favourite. This is the first hotel I have stayed at that have done delicious desserts. I normally stay clear of them when I go to Turkey, Greece or Cyprus as they are pretty grim. Whilst I would never go back with just my husband, I would absolutely go back when I have my own children. I wouldn't go with a child younger than 2, but that is just my preference. So if you are a young childless couple or even a group of friends in your 20's, I would say go elsewhere. But if you have young children and want a great time then the Alcudia Pins is for you.More

Fantastic family holiday

First things first, if you're not a family then this is not the place for you! We have a 9 month old and it was perfect. Still busy in September though so wouldn't like to be here high season. The beach and pools are excellent, see my photos. You are right next to the beach and the sea is gorgeous. The food is decent and all inclusive seems v good value. Our room is in Ibiza block with a pool and sea view, make sure you insist on one!More

Wonderful 2nd time here we will be back

Just returned from 10 days all inclusive 27/8 -6/9 family of 4. 39,33,5& 2. We had a fabulous time stayed in block H newly refurbished family room with bunk beds. It's lovely all very modern, full length mirror, spot lights, hooks, storage and loads of wardrobe space. Very comfortable beds and large balcony. The rooms are cleaned 5 times a week beds made and fresh towels. The FOOD in the main buffet restaurant is gorgeous there is a wide range of everything which left our mouths watering ( as it did last year!) the other restaurants, pool end, were of the same great standard but smaller so less choice. Anyone on here that moans about the food is crazy! You will not be disappointed. There was hot and cold choices different meats, fish veg, breads, salads & fruit always with a childrens bar too for maybe a menu more suited to kids but you could choose from everywhere. Breakfast, full English fry up & everything that goes with, breads, porridge, pancakes, cereal, continental, buns and donuts!! The hotel setting is lovely even in 34• degree heat there is a gentle breeze whilst on the beach ( a step away from the hotel grounds) and all the 5 main different pools :-) All the staff at the hotel from lifeguards to reception staff to waiters at the a la carte restaurant were friendly and made a big effort with the kids. The Thompson team /Dog and his friends are really good with the children and even got a hug off my wet shy 2yr old straight from the pool so mummy could take a pic! There is a park on site and a bigger one outside the hotel and turn left. You can get the bus into Port of alcudia for 6 euros ( 4 people ) each way and takes about 20 mins. Taxi is about 11.5 euros. Really live this hotel and can't recommend it more highly. BEST BITS Food, setting, newly refurbished rooms NEGATIVE POINTS Wifi is very poor it's hard work to get connected. There could do with being more sunbeds as there isn't enough for the amount of people there. Having said that we will defiantly be back! More

Needs to have a snack bar thats open far later. Beech beautiful. The pools are lovely. Was sold as a family complex but other then reception staff and Thomson reps they were all rude arrogant More

Lovely holiday, but would not recommend for families with children under 5!

My husband and i stayed here with my 2 year old girl from the 31st august to the 7th sept. Initially we had a warm welcome upon arrival but were not really shown how to get to our room, So we had to guess. The hotel is not small so this was a little bit of a challenge, where as the Scandinavians were shown exactly where to go and were told about everything they needed. Through out the holiday there were a number of things that happened that showed the Scandinavians were better looked after than the english! We booked a quiet family room, The room was lovely (G213) it over looked the carpark and was above reception. However, come the evening it was horrendous!! It was so far from quiet it was unbelievable. Having a 2 year old we could not stay out past 8pm and she was exhausted, but we found that our room was right next to the entertainment that didnt finish until gone 11pm. so this kept both us and my daughter awake who regardless was awake again at 6am.. at around 4am i was woken by a foul stench that clung to everything, i believe it was the sewers! it made me vomit and this was the final straw, i asked to move rooms. We were then moved to room G103 MUCH quieter!! but it was a disabled room with no bath and a sofa bed. not convenient for a 2 year old but we had no choice. The smell however was back, but it was not as strong. I resorted to buying insence sticks to light when it woke me up! Although we could not hear much of the entertainment in this room our neighbors were loud and irritating until the early hours. After speaking with a rep she said they get a lot of complaints about the Scandinavians being loud and disturbing other guests. overall i think i had 3 hours a night kip and i could not wait to come home. If you want a good nights sleep then do not stay here, however if you have children who would happily stay out all night then its perfect. The day time was so much nicer. Plenty of sunbeds around the many pools and the water was checked often, the life guards and other staff were ever so friendly and the bar had plenty of drinks to choose from. If you are going to buy something from the shops then dont buy on site as they are over priced, we found that Can Picofort which is a 6 euro drive away had things half the price of those on site. The food was lovely, although theres not much of a choice for breakfast it was still very satisfying. We will not be going back because it was a bit of a disappointment, with it supposedly being family friendly.... Its not.. its possibly 5+ friendly and would not be suitable for couples or the elderly.More
