Hotel Tropico Playa

In a beachside spot just along the coast from Magaluf, the Hotel Tropico Playa is peaceful without being isolated. This place is in a really handy location if you’re looking for a quiet base within easy reach of all the action. Lively Magaluf is just a ten-minute walk away, and there’s a good selection of bars and restaurants on the doorstep, too – ideal if you like your entertainment a little more low-key. Better still, you’ve got a wide sandy beach just over the road.

In terms of other sunbathing spots, there’s an outdoor pool set into a terrace hemmed with palm trees. Then there’s the open-air café on the side. Plus, you’ll find a separate paddling pool for children.

Inside, the Tropico Playa has got a simple but comfortable feel. Bedrooms are kitted out with private balconies, air-conditioning and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors designed to let in plenty of light.

When it comes to food, big buffets are the order of the day. We’re talking Continental spreads or cooked breakfasts in the mornings, and Mediterranean-style fare for lunches and evening meals.

As for getting out and about, Golf Fantasia, a massive crazy golf course, is just a three-minute walk along the seafront. And Marineland, a popular zoo-come-aquarium where children have the chance to swim with dolphins, is just a five-minute drive along the coast.
