Hotel Santa Lucia

This beachside hotel comes with great views, a sociable buffet restaurant and a cocktail bar.

The hotel slices the coast between the beaches of Son Matias and Palma Nova, so there’s sand outside and sea views from every room. It’s 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of town, and less than 15 to Magaluf.

The good-sized pool looks out over the sandy beach, and it’s circled by thatched parasols. Food-wise, the buffet restaurant serves some great fish dishes, while a pair of bars covers cocktails and entertainment.

last week before closing

We spend half term (all inclusive) at this hotel, which was the week before the hotel closes. Despite this, until the last day when the pool bar was no longer open, we didn't really notice that it was about to close. As another reviewer mentioned we too went back to our room the day before departure to find that the purple cushion covers and bed 'runner' had been removed. A quick word to reception who said that they shouldn't have been and they were back on! We were very lucky with the weather and never had any problem getting a sunbed. People did seem to still have favourite places and one day, even though sun deck was almost empty, when we came back after lunch we had been pushed into a corner and surrounded lol (we must have been in their spot). A few disappointments were; no all inclusive food at the pool bar, you had to go to the restaurant which, although very nice, was really a full meal and we would have occasionally enjoyed a snack at pool bar without having to pay. We enjoyed the occasional game of bingo and even watched a little of the entertainment which we don't usually. The so called 'cocktail bar' which we would have liked to have had a quiet drink in when we didn't want to watch the entertainment, was really a sports bar with loud sports on the TV constantly. Also on trips out the hotel doesn't offer packed lunches, which we have been used to being able to get in other all inclusive hotels. We had a superior room on the 8th floor which had amazing views, although I'm sure that all the rooms had a wonderful view. Room was spacious and clean. Beach was amazing both sides of hotel and there's a nice promenade which takes you right into Magaluf one way and to a little harbour the other way. We went on the free blanket trip (basically to sell you blankets) although the bonus is that you get a free trip to Palma which is a lovely city. We also went on the Thomson trip to Soller, where you get to visit the monastery after a nail biting coach trip with brilliant views up the mountains, then time in Soller port (beautiful) before a tram then train ride (on a train built the same year as the Titanic) through the orange groves back to Palma to get coach back. Really enjoyed this day out, worth the money (booked through Thomson). Drinks are nice, we didn't have to queue, but it does seems silly to have the majority of the bar taken up for non all inclusive guests when I would think most guests are AI. Restaurant does have a cafeteria like atmosphere but food was good, especially the breakfast. Small point, I sometimes found the temperature in there a bit cold for me. I liked that you could help yourself to drinks (wine/soft drinks/coffee) and that meats were carved but you were allowed to help yourself, as in some hotels I feel that the meat portions given out can be a little small. Most of the shops/bars were closing for the season but still enough open to have a browse. Overall really enjoyed this hotel and are looking to return same time next year with some friends and family.More

Perfect for us

This hotel, which we visited twice this year, once at either end of the season, was perfect for us. We were a party of 4 adults wanting a relaxing break in the sun, and what we got was just that. The location is stunning, every room has a sea view, the hotel was spotless and the facilities were well kept. I totally disagree that all inclusive guests were treated as second class. They used the side of the restaurant where the drinks were for all inclusive as a way of managing the access to them, and that area was no better or worse than the rest of the dining room. It was a specific area of the bar, but I don't see why that was a problem. You would have to pay an awful lot more that we paid to expect table service for your all inclusive drinks. In fact the only problem we had was asking them to put less spirits in as we aren't big drinkers. Staff were unfailingly polite and pleasant and the restaurant was incredibly well run. The food was varied - yes it would have been nice to have more Spanish choices, but what we had was always enjoyable. Each time I have visited I have written to the management to express our thanks. I have never done that in a hotel before. You do have to factor in the amount you pay. If you want 5 star service, you need to pay a great deal more than we did. We will definitely go back.More

perfect holiday

Just returned from spending the last 10 days of the season on an all inclusive holiday at the Santa Lucia Hotel in Palma Nova and once again everything was perfect for my wife and I. The weather was exceptionally very good for the duration , we have normally attended at the beginning of October for the last few years when not so hot but still very pleasant.(better weather in the south of the island at this time of year ) We find the hotel more upmarket than others we have stayed at having been holidaying on the island for the last 25 years .Testament to the hotels popularity is that we are very fortunate in being able to attend twice a year , will be booking up again shortly and renewing contacts with friends we have met over the years who all return to the hotel regularly. That speaks for itself. Perfect setting, perfect hotel , can't wait to returnMore

So So Hotel

Spent October half term holiday week at this hotel. Five adults and one teenager. Good points - Journey, check in and room all efficient and staff pleasant. Visited this hotel some 20 years ago and Majorca several times so knew the location and must agree with others that this is very good. Particularly nice that you can spend time around the pool but nip out of the side gate and have a dip in the sea. The food we all considered to be good with a varied selection and good quality. Agree with another reviewer that it is generally very English. We had a few Spanish options on just one evening. Opted for the superior rooms and they were fine. Allocated all 3 rooms together and one with connectiong door which was nice for family. Always able to get beds by pool no matter what time of day, but then it was fairly empty and can imagine it being very different in high season. The bad points - Selected to go all inclusive as considered for the cost involved if it only covered lunch and a few pool bar drinks it was worth it. As it turned out that is largely what happend as we spent most evenings in bar opposite the hotel. I think the hotel have to reconsider how they treat the AI guests. They really do make you feel second rate. there is a real us and them feel about service. Fine, we expected local drinks and know from past experiences they are not always the quality we might like. Have no complaint about paying extra for something we want. Don't expect however, to have to use a certain (very small area) of the bar to get a drink from whist the half board guests have the whole of the seating area of the bar to purchase a drink from or even be waited on at the tables in the lounge. There was even segregation in the dining room with cheap paper signs saying this is the all inclusive area. In terms of the staff, the management were always pleasant, the remainder left a lot to be desired. We left the hotel on the Friday as it was about to shut for the season on the Sunday and I see from another reviewer that certain facilities came to an end before the Sunday. I must agree that throughout our weeks stay we felt the quality of service and facilities was dwindling away due to end of season. On our arrival we asked at the pool bar for a pina colada drink to be told because its end of season its run out!!!! Funny how the main bar were able to still make them. The superior rooms we booked had matching throws and cushions on the beds. But they only stayed on until the Wednesday of our holiday when we returned to our room to find the throw had disappeared along with the cushion covers. My personal items in the bottom of the wardbrobe had been moved in order to store the cushion and pillows ready for the new seasons premsumably. But at the end of the day we have paid our money and should be able to expect a good service until the very last minute the doors close. It wasn't acceptable. We will not be visiting again soon.More

10th time Iv been

Absolutely love love this place. 20mins from Palma Airport, hotels situated on the Beach, we did 10days all inclusive, there was 9 of us, family. Nice quiet Hotel, perfect for Family's, would highly recommend. There is an absolutely lovely selection of food, pretty much all day if all inclusive, free ice-creams for the kids too. This hotel Caters for the more Quieter Folk, simple night entertainment, but there's Magaluf 2 mins right round the corner if you wanna party all night long. The day entertainers really look after the kids n take them on the beach to play games, loads of stuff to do locally too. More
