This beachside hotel is getting a fresh new look for summer 2018, it comes with great views, a sociable buffet restaurant and a cocktail bar*.
The hotel slices the coast between the beaches of Son Matias and Palma Nova, so there’s sand outside and sea views from every room. It’s 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of town, and less than 15 to Magaluf.
The good-sized pool looks out over the sandy beach, and it’s circled by thatched parasols. Food-wise, the buffet restaurant serves some great fish dishes, while a pair of bars covers cocktails and entertainment.

Not 4* Hotel Service & facilities
I'm comparing this hotel to another 4* hotel I stayed in a few years ago. I was all inclusive in both. We arrived late but there was no late supper left out. Beds around the pool are a joke, no cushions, bog standard beds, some quite dirty. People queuing at 7am to leave out towels on the beds as there are not enough beds for all the guests, even though their policy is not to do this! You're given one pool towel for the duration of your stay. When I asked for a change I was told 'no'. Food, well this was hit and miss. For breakfast I mostly stayed with cold foods. For lunch and dinner the food was mainly cold, which was unfortunate because most was edible. Some nice dishes but they really should not serve any of the steak, it's like leather. When they say dinner finishes at 9pm they mean 9pm; if you arrive at 9pm you might get no dinner. No waiter service at the tables unless you're using the free drinks from the taps or buying a bottle of wine; for all other drinks you have to leave the restaurant and queue at the bar. Our bedroom was a joke. We were five in total; two in a Superior Room and three in a Standard Room as the Superior do not accommodate more than two adults. So we were three adults in the one room; one camp bed put in for the third person with no room to move around. Both room types had very small balconies, this is across the board for the whole of the hotel. We broke glass on the balcony and there was still glass there when we were leaving. The balcony was so small that even the house-cleaning couldn't get around it to clean it probably! The Standard rooms are dark and dreary so when you're cramped into a small dark area it's not very pleasant. The outside areas were very clean. So what does this hotel need to improve: Rooms - I know they are currently undergoing improvements so this may not be applicable for much longer. Pool - Introduce better quality sunbeds and enforce the no-left towel policy Food - Maybe serve smaller amounts and top up more frequently Pool Towels - Guests should not be refused a towel if this is a service provided, then provide for the duration. Room Services - in my opinion a 4* Hotel should offer all guests should have a refrigerator, safe and tea/coffee facilities as standard.More

Location excellent. Hotel lovely and clean although some areas looking tired. All staff excellent, helpful and obliging throughout although one of the younger female bar staff could do to smile a little. Food very average to poor, with some lunchtime dishes repeated in the evening and some dishes cold. Needs more variety with main meals and sweets. Entertainment poor. Hope the 2018 refurbishment brings the hotel up to a 5 star standardMore
sad about this wonderful hotel
this wonderful hotel has been our base for 18 years but this year we saw the demise of standards that had been there till this year . people were finding it hard to find plain food , but most food had a garnish and the puddings , well none descript . staff demotivated due to the because of all changes and this i am afraid comes from top management . the staff have not changed their standards More
First time at this hotel and certainly the last!!!
Having just returned from a one week stay as a party of 4 (two rooms) I feel the need to relay our experience. I booked two superior rooms at an All inclusive price for the week. The reception area on arrival was quite pleasant and as our rooms weren't quite ready we were given a key to a baggage room to leave our cases whilst we waited. Once receiving our room keys we made our way to the 7th floor. Our room was 734 and our family were just down the corridor. Upon opening the door we noticed rather an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Once the balcony doors were opened for a while it seemed to disappear so we thought nothing more of it. The following few days we noticed the smell was getting worse so we went to reception to report it. We were told someone would look into it immediately. Later that day we back to our room to find the smell had gotten worse. I again contacted reception who thought the matter had been sorted. They again said they would look into it. The next morning we were again going to talk to reception but walking down the corridor the cleaner stopped us and explained that our room did have an unpleasant smell and it was caused by condensation. The only solution was for her to spray the room with air fresher every morning to mask the smell. This solved the problem for about 5 minutes then we were back to square one. She also mentioned that our room was the only room in the hotel to suffer this problem. In our opinion this was not condensation. Our room itself was booked as a "Superior" room. I am quite perplexed as to how it qualifies as Superior! There was tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. Nothing to make it Superior. Maybe Globales should just advertise it as a high floor and reduce the exorbitant pricing structure. Mealtimes were a memorable experience. In every eating establishment my family and I have ever eaten in you can actually smell the food as you enter, something you could never do here which was probably a good thing after looking at it. We have never seen such a POOR display or variety of food. Dishes and sauces were put in the display areas with no labeling of what was actually in them and most times you could never tell by looking at them or even eating it. The food had very little or no taste at all. All meats were served in what I would say was some sort of gravy (they called it sauce) and tasted the same i.e. pork, beef and turkey. It was cooked to within an inch of its life. One night there was Mash potato. You would have thought a supposed 4 star establishment could manage to boil some potatoes and mash them. Wrong!! It was a packet mix and looked disgusting. They did manage to mix a few peas in it, not sure why! Food was often very cold. The veg was not fresh. It was tinned and watery. Yuk. On two occasions we went into the restaurant for our evening meal and after looking at the poor quality of food yet again we decided enough was enough, we turned around and walked out and went to a restaurant down the road. This of course added to the cost of an already expensive holiday which you do not expect to do on an "All inclusive holiday". From the restaurant closing at 3pm to when dinner is served at 6pm the only food available is cakes. These were served at the outside bar area. These certainly did not look appetizing. Again more effort could have been made. The bar area is a very nice size or so we thought! After approaching the bar we were immediately told to go round the corner to a very small section of bar (if you can call it that) and queue. The main bar area was for paying guests. After joining the queue we ordered drinks from surly, unsmiling and generally miserable bar staff. Drinks were never consistent. Most of the time you could never taste the alcohol. We were really looking forward to the entertainment which was performed nightly from about 10.00pm for around an hour or so. What a let down this was. It matched the food "TERRIBLE". One night there was an ABBA tribute act. The only thing this group had in common with ABBA was that there was four of them on stage. The daytime entertainment consisted of Darts. WOW again for a supposed 4star establishment what can you say! The pool. Why do management allow the people who use the pool to queue in the reception area from 7am to bag a bed. They do not open the door until 8am. By then the queue overwhelmed the reception area stretching from the pool door to the restaurant / lift area. What a shambles! One of our party had a box of Tobacco packages mysteriously disappear from their room. This was reported to Reception but the staff did not seem too concerned about this nor did they follow it up. Apparently this sort of thing does not happen at the Santa Lucia! The front of house staff need to take lessons on pleasantness and approach-ability from the cleaning staff who outperformed them in this way. Finally, would we recommend this hotel, the answer is NO!!! Especially as the cost for the same week in 2018 is £500 more expensive!!! More

The hotel, staff, food were superb. During our stay we could not believe some of the negative comments that had been left in some reviews. The staff in all areas were polite & helpful. The rooms were kept clean and tidy. The restaurant offered a wide variety of full cooked breakfast, live cooking area and continental style options. Lunch and Dinner offered 4 meat main choices, 1 or 2 fish choices and Vegetarian. 4 composite salad and various single salad choices. A Selection of vegetables and potato dishes A live cooking area. A good selection of desserts. Fresh Soups. Cheese and biscuits. The selections changed daily. Delicious. The hotel is in a prime location. Only seconds from the beach if you prefer that rather than the pool and a short walk to the bars of Palma Nova & Magaluf. All rooms offer great sea views.More
