Just a short drive inland and you will come to the historic town of Arta which is dominated by a 14th-century hilltop fortress, Esglesia de San Salvador. From this vantage point you can view the surrounding countryside and, on a clear day, out to sea. 10km southeast of Arta are the Coves d'Arta that can be toured throughout the year.

There's no better way to relax than a long lunch followed by a siesta on the beach or by the pool. Seafood takes precedence here and is always a good choice. Costa de los Pinos has a few restaurants but most dining is done in the hotels.
The nightlife here is low key, focusing on evening strolls and good food. If you fancy a night on the Majorcan tiles, Cala Millor has more to offer in the way of modern discos and bars
Shopping at Costa de los Pinos is limited to the essentials: life tends to move slowly here and you'll be more interested in beach and pool time than in bargains. Arta caters a little better for the tourist with numerous local shops selling local produce and goods. The industrial town of Manacor, about 25km away, specialises in manufactured pearls.
Beach life is what Majorca is famed for; however there is plenty on offer inland. The caves at Porto Cristo and Arta will give you a claustrophobic thrill and make for good days out. Arta town is a good place to recover from your caving experience with a cold drink in the medieval square.
