My wife and I stayed here from the 7th to the 14th October and, whilst we agree that the hotel amenities and food etc are as described by others - all is not perfect in Paradise.
Like many, I emailed the reception and requested a high room since I am a light sleeper. When we arrived, we were allocated room 240 which turned out to be a small side room over reception. this was a very small room with no balcony, only two very small windows and the room overlooked the stage area of the next hotel where the kids club and karaoke nights were held - really good for a light sleeper.
We returned to Reception to request another room and were told initially that this was impossible by a very obstructive "gentleman" behind the desk - even though we offered to pay for an upgrade. Eventually, we were able to discuss this with our rep - Priscilla. She told us that it is Thomson's policy that you can only have a balcony IF YOU PAY EXTRA FOR A SEAVIEW ROOM. there is nothing we found in the brochure that states this.
We asked to be transferred to another hotel and were eventually given room 139 which did have a balcony but which overlooked the same adjacent hotel with a view of a long black wall on one side and a view of the bins on the other.
Yes the rooms are modern and comfortable - straight out of a Grand Designs programme or, in our case, just like an up market Care Home for the elderly - the room we were given was kitted out for invalids. We are not that old yet!!
Our treatment here totally spoiled our holiday and we were appalled by Thomson's attitude to customer satisfaction or lack of it.
So, remember - book a seaview room and pay the extra if you want a balcony.More

Great Hotel and Staff - bad web information and reps
Just returned from Protur Playa. The hotel was great as were the staff from reception down to the waiters. So friendly could not fault them. I booked a double room and e mailed them to request a sea facing room on a high floor. They replied that they would see what they could do. When I arrived at the hotel I was put on the 2nd floor with no balcony and on the side of the hotel. I was then informed that I had booked an economy room. Nowhere in the paperwork did it say this. The reception staff said that they had plenty of rooms but the Thomson rep would have to do the upgrade they couldn't do it. I wasn't after a freebie and offered to pay for the upgrade. The Thomson rep would have none of it and said that they could not do an upgrade at the resort. Going on line at the hotel they had plenty of rooms available, in fact the hotel was half empty. I was moved after 2 days to a room with a balcony but still on the side of the hotel overlooking the next hotels rubbish bins. Both of the rooms I had had disabled. By the way we are not disabled. Apart from the room the hotel was great, the food was great but the ENTERTAINMENT LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED,.More

Fantastic view from balcony
just returned home from a weeks stay at this hotel. Every thing was lovely.
We chose to stay in a double room with full seaview and balcony. (Make sure you check as there are lots of styles of rooms to book and some are without balcony) the room was very modern. The view from balcony was fantastic we were in room 724 which is at the top of the tall part of building in the middle. You could see along the promenade and pool area. The balcony had 2 reclining chairs and small table. My parents ( who stayed the week before)had a superior room no 401 which had views across pool area and sea. This room had two balconies.
Pool area very nice, a style of sun lounger for every person requirements.
We ate at the pool grill each afternoon as it was such good value for really good food. Drink prices also good.
The main dining room was very nice 2 sittings which worked well. We started off on first sitting but found that to early so change to 2cd no problem at all. Bottles of wine ranged from 8 euros to 16 euros. Food very good.
Alacarte resteraunt very nice but tables a little to close. Food again very nice.
Staff very nice. We joined in a couple of things the hotel was doing for charity. Bingo, wine tasting, and cocktails/canopies afternoon.
The hotels lifts were annoying as there's only 2 and they were very slow.
Wifi free inside hotel and around pool worked perfectly with my iPad.
Hotel is ideal for walks along seafront. 35 mins to cala bona. And about 45 mins to sa coma. And there's a nice walk to the castle which has a cafe /bar with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating.
We caught a bus to the caves of drake, and got the boat back to calla millor.
The weather was fantastic whilst we were there. Just one day of rain.which we already knew about so that's the day we went to the caves of drake.More

One of the Best Hotels
We returned on Sat 18th after a fantastic weekâs holiday. The staff both front of house, restaurant and bar were excellent. The food in the main dining hall was outstanding and our trip to the Bistro restaurant shows that they can take outstanding to amazing.
The rooms as many have already said were not only stunning to look at they were very comfortable. The decor was lovely - one comment maybe a picture would be needed, but Iâm not an interior designer.
The location was great and the views magnificent. The hotel did have some sort of grip on us that we didn't really want to go that far as it had all we wanted. So must of our week we just hung around the pool and the Bar.
The reps Kirsty and Priscilla were helpful friendly and seemed to be doing the rounds around the pool often asking if we needed anything. Very helpful and fun with it.
The Entertainment (wait for it Phil I'll come to you later) Mardi Gras were good on the eyes and good on the ears. It was a shame that nothing got going until 9pm and it all went quiet at 11pm. By 10:30 I was just about getting ready to boogie the night away and then it all closed down. Time to rethink the timings. I did hear a Saxophonist doing some terrible singing which was not fun' But other than that the entertainment was great.
The Celtic Dancers were excellent even if I did get stitched up by Phil and eneded up joining them for a short dance. It was great fun and I was game on.
Now then, our Phil, from Warrington. What a genuine bloke and great person. He can hold a tune and can nearly hit the top notes but he had difficult audiences often. His jokes were nearly as bad as mine which made him laugh/groan when I told him them. His Poolside aerobics was a non event but that wasn't his fault - The pool was too cold.
The Sangria making event - well both of us ended up giggling like teenagers and it was fun meeting up with like minded drunken souls. Be careful to not book your couples massage on the same day because the first thing they do is offer you a glass of champagne. Still giggling when having a massage is not a good idea.
Protur Playa what a great holiday and what a great team you have - keep it going and one day soon a Michelin Star will be awarded I am sureMore
Returned home last week, excellent standards in hotel led by a very strong management team, All staff very pleasant and most helpful.. Food well seasoned and good variety. A La Carte restaurant well worth a visit, the tenderloin steak was so tender and cooked to perfection. Hotel in a prime position right on the walkway to Cala Bona,(Beware of the cyclists) The Thomsons reps most helpful and always on hand.Entertainment not the best, think Phil was gearing down for his new job.Refurnishment to a high standard, hope they maintain it!
Would like to return next year, and definitely recommend the Playa.More
