At the Inturotel Esmeralda Resort, you get two hotels for the price of one – and they’re both just a few minutes’ walk away from the beach.
The Inturotel Esmeralda Resort has an impressive location, hugging one of Cala d’Or’s peaceful little coves. What’s more, the property is within easy walking distance of the town centre.
The resort is made up of two hotels – the Esmeralda Park, which is on the beach, and the Cala Azul Garden, which is just across the road from the Esmeralda – so there’s plenty in the way of facilities.
You'll find two pools at Esmeralda Park hotel, one of them is an activity pool and comes with its own children's area. If that wasn't enough, there's another pool at Cala Azul Garden designed for fun with the family. Both have spacious sun terraces and are dotted with sunbeds and parasols. A deposit is required for pool towels.
Light and airy with natural furnishings make these 1-bedroom apartments stylish. Located in the Cala Azul Gardens, they come with a kitchenette and a lounge with 2 sofa-beds. Wi-Fi* is also available. You'll have access to the balcony from the lounge and bedroom too.

This was our first time abroad with a 2 year old and we found this hotel suitable. We went half board and found the food to be better than expected. Shame we had to pay for water as they do not provide it, only at breakfast time. The negative points were our room was near the outdoor stage so we heard music and singing every night. Luckily, it did not wake our toddler up from her sleep. We were on the second floor with no lifts so had to carry our luggage up and down. Not easy with a little one who could just about walk there. We could hear conversations from other holiday makers sitting on their balcony at 11pm to 12.00. No wi-fi in the rooms and the kitchen was too small to do any cooking. The private beach was overcrowded.More
Great efficiency room with patio. Clean. Quiet at night. Had breakfast and dinner included. Food very good. Pools and beach nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice location, town close enough to walk around at night if desired. Small private beach. Beautiful waterMore
Basic rooms, not 4 star!
We booked into this Hotel for 1 week as having read the reviews it sounded a good place to stay. We also heard a lot of good reports about the resort from people we know. For what we paid £1300 - for one week half board, we thought it was a bit overpriced for the standard of room - very basic furniture and look. It was however clean enough and we had paid extra for a sea view balcony which was worth it as it was a nice outlook. The food itself at breakfast was reasonable although I have yet to find any hotels that do decent breakfast! The evening meals were ok if a bit repeated i.e no lasagnes, curries, spicy food....more plain type food. We felt that the Hotel was itself was catering more for the German tastes. There were very few British people in this hotel - mainly German and felt they therefore got better looked after. The Hotel did do a happy hour cocktail which was good value. The location of the resort was such that it was a bit further away from the main area and the marina but it was pleasant at night sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine. Due to the unfortunate weather when we visited (it rained a fair bit), we didn't venture out every night. There is a shortcut from the reception, turn left through a gate, walk down the path and this will take you to one of the main streets which has some bars, Spar shops etc and is also a more direct way to get to the main shopping area, rather than right out of the hotel and up the hill which is a lot longer route. The reception didn't tell you this shortcut way - they directed us the long way! Also, I wouldn't recommend using the shop on the resort as it is overpriced compared to the many shops to be found in the main shopping area. We did try a restaurant one night - Fernando's which was good but again nothing spectacular however quite a romantic experience and atmosphere. If we went back to this resort, we would opt for an apartment as there were many restaurants which didn't seem too expensive and we prefer making our breakfast in an own apartment. Cala D'or is a nice resort, probably better for families as there are nice beaches but we are not sun bathers particularly. However, we prefer more traditional places that are quaint and romantic. Also, we were unlucky with the weather as end of Sept should have been very nice but it was cloudy a lot and rained heavy at times. We hired a car one day into Palma as we were sick of the weather. This proved fairly inexpensive so would recommend doing if you want a change of scenery or are unlucky with the weather.More
Food was totally awesome, Cala d´Or too touristy for us
The hotel is very good to be a three star. The best thing was the food, no doubt. We also enjoyed the beach. Did not see much of the evening shows, preferred to stroll to city center. But Cala d´Or too touristy, we prefer smaller places to relax and a few days in Palma. Nice modern rooms.More
Lovely end of season break
Stayed here for 1 week at the end of October with our 9 year old twins. Had a premium apartment which was lovely and still smelled brand new. The whole hotel was very clean and staff were friendly although some seemed to be looking forward to the end of the season.
We stayed half board and the food was of a very good standard and there was always something that we found that we liked. The kids enjoyed their 5-course breakfast and evening meals! The only thing is that you need to buy your own drinks in the evening, nothing is supplied, the drinks machines with orange and apple juice or water, tea and coffee that is there during breakfast is all covered up. Also remember that there is no drinkable tap water on the island so you need to drink bottled water or you won't have a very enjoyable holiday!
Esmeralda beach is lovely, as well as the other nearby coves (Ferrera and Cala d'Or were other favourites). The pools were quite cold but that is to be expected due to the time of year.
If you need to go to a supermarket then don't bother with the Spar's of which there are many around, they are very overpriced. Instead, go to Suma which is the closest larger supermarket and also has a fresh meat and seafood area as well as a bakery. To get there, go out the main reception and turn left as if you were going into Cala d'Or centre. When you get to the end of the road and see the square in front of you with the kids play park then turn right and it's at the roundabout ahead of you (about a 10 minute walk in total).
I would return to the hotel again as it was lovely but I wouldn't go back the same time again as we didn't realise that as it was the end of season it meant that EVERYTHING in Cala D'or shut down on 31st October. Even the local buses stopped running and there were only a handful of restaurant's open in the Cala D'or centre, but apart from this we had a lovely time and I would recommend the hotel to others.More
