Inturotel Esmeralda Resort

At the Inturotel Esmeralda Resort, you get two hotels for the price of one – and they’re both just a few minutes’ walk away from the beach.

The Inturotel Esmeralda Resort has an impressive location, hugging one of Cala d’Or’s peaceful little coves. What’s more, the property is within easy walking distance of the town centre.

The resort is made up of two hotels – the Esmeralda Park, which is on the beach, and the Cala Azul Garden, which is just across the road from the Esmeralda – so there’s plenty in the way of facilities.

Average - watch out for overbooking

Just come back from a weeks stay here. We arrived to be told that we were being put in a smaller room for the night because they didn't have the room we had booked available as they overbooked. - great start to the holiday. We weren't the only ones either, there were about 8 other parties with the same issue. We were disappointed in the staff at the reception desk around this matter, they were quite rude and matter of fact about the situation which was incredibly frustrating. Luckily Thomson were on hand to help out! We were moved into the room we HAD booked the next day, although we only found out we were being moved when we saw two plain clothed men wheeling our luggage down the road!!! As you can imagine that was a very awkward and difficult conversation to be had in the middle of the street on the second day of your holiday. In conclusion our experience with staff and organisation of the place was frustrating to say the least. That aside, the hotel itself is good although very basic, it's immaculately clean, premium room was quite sizeable, balcony was nice (although we only got to view the car park). Everything comes at an extra cost though, safe, wifi - it adds up! The location is good, beaches in the hotel and in the surrounding area are beautiful however they are packed and we only managed to get on the beach a couple of times during the week, one of those times been after 5pm! Sun beds are just a distant dream, no chance of getting one unless you wake up at the crack of dawn and the rooms are very noisy, paper thin walls and doors means for a constant drone of voices, buzzing doorbells and traffic from the entrance of the hotel. Cala D'or itself is nice, it's very pretty, lots of shops and restaurants the marina is the place to be for meals out if you are looking for something a little more authentic and quieter. The area for us was a little too touristy, we weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was having previously holiday'd up the north of the island near Pollenca we were surprised how different they are. Overall we made the most of our stay and did enjoy ourselves, but this is not suitable for couples at all, and the hotel is at bursting point with limited staff and inordinate amount of visitors and with that we doubt we will be going back to the hotel or that part of the island again More

Good family holiday

Just returned from a 10 night stay, 2 adults & 2 children age 12 & 14. Spotlessly clean hotel, never seen so many cleaning staff at a hotel/ apartments. Apartments cleaned every day if you put the service my apartment sign on your door. Lots of organised activities for young children & older children like ours. My boys loved the Football, Water Polo & Hockey. We stayed self catering because we like to eat out while away in local restaurants. One evening we did pay to have our meal in the hotel half board restaurant, plenty of choice, it is food catered for large numbers & not my ideal way of eating out having to get up & down for each course. Lots of different areas around the hotel to chill, sunbath, swim & relax, loved sitting on the patio/reception area deck chairs looking out to the beach while reading a book early evening. We arrived on the 7th July & hotel seemed to have a nice number of guests, by the 12th July hotel had become very busy. Like previous guest have said it was near impossible to get a sun lounger around any of the pools, The hotel is meant to operate a 20min policy on sun loungers with towels on. I only seen the life guard twice putting a polite notice on beds that hadn't been occupied for more than 3 hours. Each morning around 7am I would be having a coffee on our balcony watching people taking their towels down to the pool area & placing them on loungers & not return till after 10 ??? We only managed to get loungers round the pool on our last day at the hotel, this was because I went down at 07:45 with my coffee & a book to lay claim to 4 beds for me & my family followed shortly by our sons. (Something I never do & hate others for doing) Beach was very very busy towards the end of our holiday, same happening here, people would make claim to areas with towels, sun tents, Airbeds etc, & go back & have breakfast. Lovely little beach cove, to swim, dive & feed fish. Apartments are kept very clean & all areas around resort spotless, only thing I found odd was they only changed our bedding once & that was the night before we left at 07:00 am that morning ??? One thing I did hate & I think hotel should look at, was children playing on the pool tables after midnight, while screaming & shouting, you could hear every shot being made & so loud it would wake you up. I think the hotel should cover the tables & take cues away once evening entertainment is finished 11ish. I would return to this hotel because its spotlessly clean, but only before the 10th July,More

Great holiday

Okay so a mixed bag not happy with the very expensive room safe that's the most expensive safe we have had to pay for our apartment was good not great a bit tired but very clean had everything we needed hotel staff very good. Now first day my son was in the pool and found poo lying at the bottom of the pool NOT nice I was totally put off it was cleaned away by the life guards but still not what you want unfortunately this happened a few times then on our last evening there was poo on the steps as you go to the pool cafe then before we got a chance to get a staff member somebody stood on it but we mentioned it to the staff in the cafe but they said go to reception by the time my son ran up to reception as I said somebody stood on it then the cleaning Lady came looked at it and left it went away didn't come back so half an hour later it was smelling so I said to her it didn't get cleaned NOT GOOD the hotel was good not great food was good but could cater more towards children as my son isn't a good eater nuggets could have been more available but he did love the nuggets and pizza when it was on food was good other wise always something good variety happy with this it did get busy our second week and a older man pushed my son out the way one morning I was furious but I didn't want to make a fuss entertainment was good hard working and well done great with the kids they had a good variety of activities for all ages BEST BIT was location AMAZING very secure as no cars can come into complex so I LOVED that Beautiful location I am divided if I would go back but all in all I think all the staff were great so hard working its a beautiful place the problems that we encountered can be fixed so yeah I would go back I would recommend this hotel to people but the cost of the safe should be looked at and free internet thanks for a good holidayMore

angela m,

Good but would we go back?

Stayed here 12th-19th July, my wife, daughter and I. For us the holiday is about good weather, good food, clean accommodation, having a good time and relaxation! Well, what boxes does the Esmerelda tick? Weather great apart from one day so tick. We were half board and never had a bad meal, how they manage to cater for so many so well it almost beggars belief, so a big tick there. Accommodation was good and very clean so once again a tick. We had a lovely holiday so another tick there. Now, relaxation.... Unfortunately a big no tick. There are just too many people here. Absolutely zero chance of relaxation. The small beach whilst very pretty is so crowded. One day we were there literally other people's towels were on ours!. The pool areas are also far too busy, the pools themselves are too small and there are not enough sun beds (even though us Brits only accounted for 30% of the total clientele here, we definitely accounted for 80+% of the bed hogging!) If you weren't out at 0800 you had no chance of one. If it was just one hotel it may be ok but it seems Inturotel want the place to be considered a resort so 2 other nearby hotels feed into this one) but without the infastructure. So in summary and relating back to my question in the title I'm afraid the answer is no, we wouldn't go back. If you took half the people away then we would return in a heart beat.......More
