Hotel Rocador

This hotel has a beach on its doorstep and easy access to Cala d'Or's restaurants and nightlife.

This place has an exclusive location, overlooking the pretty cove of Cala Gran. It’s fronted by a curve of golden sand, and it is less than a 5-minute walk from Cala d’Or’s cosmopolitan town centre.

The hotel has just been made over, so you’ll walk in to box-fresh interiors. Everything has a minimalist feel. Rooms, for instance, feature stark white walls and furniture, offset by colourful, arty murals. From May 2016, this hotel will become part of the Thomson Sensimar collection.

Excellent Hotel

This was an amazing hotel and seemed to be more 4* than 3*. The rooms were beautifully furnished and very clean. Plenty of sun beds and parasols for everyone. Pool bar food very good and priced very low in comparison to other places. The evening entertainment provided by the resident duo was excellent as they played a real mix of music which should appeal to most tastes. Wifi worked well but could only use on two devices as you were given code which worked for 2. However to be fair we didn't ask if we could get extra codes to use on additional devices.More

Not as good as we thought

Lovely clean hotel, adjacent too a lovely beach with beautiful clear water, the beach is NOT exclusive too the hotel,it's for anyone, our room was big and lovely and clean, bed was great, quite big, nice shower room, cubicle a bit tired though, plenty of sun beds, but the best ones are snapped up by 8.30 am,the night entertainment was good, the mills brothers do a great job, pool is smallish but good enough, staff are excellent and work with a smile on their faces, cleaners do a great job,the only minus points are ,having too pat 20 euros for the room safe (no need) also water in the room on day one only(the best hotels provide this every day) but last but not least the food( I was really disappointed by this, reheated, plus the steak was so tough, also the lamb was horrible, but the fish was great, for breakfast the bacon was cremated, the cheese slices were stuck together, all in all it was the food that let this hotel down.More

A lovely, relaxing stay

Just come back from a lovely and relaxing 10 night stay at Hotel Rocador. You will not be disappointed by staying here. The hotel is nice and central to the resort, it is clean, fresh and modern with a variety of ages and nationalities in couples staying. We stayed in one of the garden rooms, each room is fairly spacious with a small balcony, comfy king size bed (two singles tied together) a good sized walk in shower with two shower heads. TV is a bit naff, it does have English channels but only BBC 1 & 2 seem to work; "but hey, you are on holiday!". The rooms are very quiet as well, I can recommend a garden room. The hotel can be a bit of a maze at first but once figured out you will be fine. Buffet restaurant & Mediterranean restaurant: Both restaurants are good, ignore other reviews from other fussy people. Me and my wife do love eating out, but this was the first time that we haven't eaten out during our 10 night stay; which is unlike us considering there is lots of places to eat around the resort! They have a 14 day menu with lots of variety each night, my wife is a fussy eater but she was OK each night. The restaurant is open till 9:30pm, we normally hit the restaurant by 9pm, this is when it is slightly quieter; we preferred this time as it was less hassle. Breakfast is good, again lots of variety for all needs in the morning. The Mediterranean restaurant is also nice, each couple receives one reservation for a stay. I had Minestrone soup to start and a seafood kebab for my main which consists of salmon and king prawns hanging on a skewer; delicious! If you are leaving before 7am then the Mediterranean restaurant is open for breakfast just serving continental breakfast. Pool Area & Chill Out Garden Area: We stayed by the pool each day which opens at 9am each morning, although depending on who opens it you can find it could be open from 8:30am! There are signs saying don't reserve beds with towels, but this is ignored (we ignored it because we are creatures of habit) and not enforced. Although, I wouldn't worry about this as there are plenty of beds to choose throughout the day. The garden chill out area is open from 7am onwards overlooking the beach, it has a couple of hot-tubs to choose from. Although people were getting up very early to reserve their specks for this area, "not even worth it considering the pool area opens up 2 hours later on!!" Entertainment: Was OK, the resident duo are very good and talented, the singer should go and audition for X-factor!! The guitarist is also excellent, lovely acoustic set by the pool is much appreciated; particularly the Andy Mckee number and Metallica Nothing else Matters! Sebastian or Bastian?? Is in charge of running the entertainment throughout the day, he isn't as good; seems to give up too easily when people say no. Needs to go to the garden area as well and try and encourage more people to take part!! More enthusiasm and campness needed!! Hotel wifi: OK, not brilliant it was ample. Thomson reps: OK, pleasant, didn't use them while there. Resort: BRILLIANT!! See my other reviews on certain places around the area! Cleaning: Excellent service, very clean and well maintained throughout the hotel! Lobby bar: Nice and cool, comfy couches and relaxing! Hotel indoor pool/sauna & steam room: Great!! Spa: Looks nice, didn't really use so can't comment. Overall, if you are looking for a nice and relaxing holiday as a couple in a great resort I would look no further than Hotel Rocador.More

David S,

Nice hotel, but avoid room 1106

We stayed here for 10 days from the 10th August, half board (only option available). Booking through Thompson, you have the option to upgrade to a limited sea view room, which we chose to do. However, this gave us room 1106, and if you look at the other reviews, there's another one mentioning to avoid this room. The response to that review was that the problems have been resolved, but they haven't. The shower didn't work when we arrived (which was fixed after talking to reception) but the big issue was the noise coming from the restaurant which is above you. It's unbearably loud with the sound of scraping chairs and running water for some reason during breakfast and dinner. Unless you're a heavy sleeper, this rooms too loud. When we asked reception for a room change, they said they couldn't do anything until the manager was in tomorrow, so we were not moved until the 3rd day. Once we were moved, the new room was lovely. Although you could hear the music from outside until around 1am some nights. Lovely shower and bed in the room, don't bother with the TV if you're watching English channels, the signal never worked (regardless of weather, on the hottest days in both rooms the channels didn't work). Breakfast was amazing. Good effort for the English breakfast and the waffles/pancakes were lovely. Sitting outside in the lower restaurant on a sunny day was a nice way to start the day. Personally, I didn't like a single course from the a la carte meal, but my boyfriend did, so that's just a personal preference. The dinner menu is said to be a 14 day menu. It's more like the same menu, with one main dish changing every day. Aside from a few issues, Overall the hotel was good. Great location, very reasonable drink prices, lovely decor and very modern. The entertainment (the Millsy brothers) were fantastic, by far the best we heard in Cala d'or. Definitely worth a listen! More

FANTASTIC

Just got back from a weeks stay at Hotel Rocador and it was fantastic The food, the rooms and the staff were faultless. We had a beach / sea view room that was cleaned Dailey we had a fridge and brewing up gear in the room along with bubbly and water in the room when we arrived. One thing I cannot fathom is why this hotel only has 3 stars. One things for certain we will be returning very soonMore
