The Cala d’Or Playa Apartments are just a ten-minute walk from Cala Esmeralda beach, so kids can make good use of their buckets and spades. Plus, the property is only a 15-minute walk from the restaurants of Cala d’Or, so you’re sorted when you want to eat out.
At the apartments themselves, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained. There’s a spacious swimming pool, with lots of sunloungers to relax on. Little ones, meanwhile, have free rein of a splash park and an adventure playground. If they’re still feeling energetic in the evening, there’s a children’s disco, too.
As far as accommodation is concerned, the rooms are spacious and smart. The well-equipped kitchenettes have everything you need to cook your own meals. And the nearest supermarket is just a five-minute walk away, so you can stock up on supplies.

Pleasant surprise. This hotel has a great location ten minutes from centre of resort. Lovely pool facilities - plenty of sun beds. It was near the end of the season so the hotel was quiet. We upgraded to a newly refurbished room with huge balcony over the pool area which was excellent - if anyone had wished to cook meals it was very well equipped. We did view a basic room which was very nice but did not have a balcony view. All balconies were very big and had a table and chairs to accommodate four. Staff were very pleasant. The cleanliness was outstanding. The room was cleaned thoroughly every second day - clean towels - bathroom thoroughly cleaned and floors washed. We did not eat often in the hotel but when we did the food was good. T & EMore

Stayed for 8 nights June 10th to 18th. We stayed here the previous July and loved it so much we thought we would return. We upgraded to one of the better rooms and it was worth the extra. We stayed half board and can just say the food here is excellent, lots of choice and with the complex not being massive there isn't a mad rush in the restaurant. Pool area is ultra clean and my 2 young children loved swimmimg in it (not too deep). Entertainment here is geared towards the young ones and the animation staff work very hard to keep the kids occupied, ther are also things for the adults to do : rifle shooting and water polo just to mention a few. This is a thomson hotel however this year we booked the room direct and chose easyjet flights it worked out at about 60% of the price thomson were asking. Reception staff very friendly nothing is too much trouble here. The rooms are lovely with big balconies everything is really clean and there are adequeate cooking facilities hob, microwave etc. Please note our upgraded room didn't have a bath but this didnt bother us as we all shower anyway. Special mention to Jason the Thomson rep who made our stay a special one he was so funny and joined us for drinks most evenings to watch the entertainment which was good the highlight being the snake show. All in all a fabulous place to stay, just go you will not be disappointed !More
Just returned from an amazing holiday here, we were lucky with the weather apart from the last night when we had a huge storm, the hotel was in the process of closing down as resort shuts on 31st October! (Not aware of this at booking).. As the restaurants in the resort were a 10 min walk away we were not able to get out due to the storm, although the hotel restaurant had shut down reception were very accommodating and made us sandwiches, fruit and drinks to eat (foc), the hotel staff provided the best service I have received in years, I would highly recommend this hotel to families! The entertainment programme was brilliant (although did close down early due to it being quiet) had it been in season we would have been very much entertained. Beaches close by are beautiful! Amazing holiday will definitely will go back..... Thank you everyone @ Cala D'Or Playa Aparthotel....More

okay for the kids
Me and my wife stayed recently for a week with our 16 month old child and overall its good if your looking for a family break. the standard rooms are now looking very dated and in need of updating but I didn't view any upgraded rooms so cannot comment on them. our first night was ruined by an irish couple fighting and when I went to see what was happening there was blood all down the hotel passage which I must admit was cleaned up quickly by the hotel, the fight finally ended at 3am with the local police and garda civil attending but that meant an hour of police radios echoeing down the corridors. we originally were put in room 002 which together with 001 are terrible rooms that have the feel of staying in a bunker. these should really be used for storage rooms as we had the lights on constantly due to it being so dark. we requested to move room which was completed in 48 hours and having sunlight on our balcony completely changed our moods and made it a better holiday for the other 5 nights. If your self catering then you can save a fortune on spending money by using the Suma Supermarket which can be found by coming out of reception and walking for several minutes and you will find it on your right hand side. In the morning you can get filled baguettes and a drink for 2euros or crossiants and drink for 1.80euros which is the best value in the resort. For the kids you can buy a box of three chocolate ice creams for 1.88euros [keep them in your freezer] which are on sale in the hotel and local shops for 3euro each. fruit and veg is so cheap to buy there aswell as making up your own sandwiches and baguettes. I advise people to avoid most of the spars which are only there for the purpose of tourists to get overcharged and in particular avoid the spar at the top of the nearest beach [cala gran] as I pointed out to the manager [louda] that they were selling sandwiches that were six days out of date to which see replied "they are okay for the tourist", I was amazed by that response. Most local bars were charging 2.5euros for a large beer which seems standard [3.5 euros in hotel]. The small park and water works are a good source of entertainment for the young ones during the day but we found the evening entertainment to be very poor and boring. The kids disco consisted of the same music cd [which they push you to buy] being played everynight, other nights consisted of bingo being played between half a dozen people and some very boring dancing on other nights, they should really try to invest in something for people to come and watch and they would get lots more people staying in the hotel and watching instead of venturing out looking for their own entertainment. Be careful eating in the centre where they are all bustling for your custom as we ate there and had a very poor excuse for fillet steak [horse]. Dining at the marina is highly recommended and we ended up eating there each evening at the end of our stay. The food is of a much higher standard and theres about a dozen different places to choose from. Check out the set menus which vary around 11 to 17 euros for a good satisfying three course meal. We were also very lucky with the weather which in mid October was very pleasing.More
Am I being picky?
Just got home today from Apartamentos Cala d'Or Playa, which I basically enjoyed. However, last-night (Weds. 23rd October 2013), the Champions League football match (shown on Skye) & which had been advertised around the Hotel for a few days as being the Manchester United match was to be shown in the bar area. Several English football fans attended the advertised entertainment for the kick-off, only to be told by the bar staff that the (Spanish) Real Madrid match was being shown and there was nothing they could do about it. The match was in fact commentated on in English, and throughout the match the "red button" facility was displayed with the choice of watching any of the 8 Champions League matches being played at that time, one of which was the Man Utd game. I'm not a Man. Utd supporter in any shape or form, but I feel that this was an example of how English / British tourists are really treated here. Also, the rooms were noisy between 8 & 10 in the morning with furniture being dragged about, above below & next door. I presume from the cleaners, who clean very well, but no good if you are on holiday & like a lay in. The apartment was clean & well equipped for self sufficiency, with air con., good t.v channel choices, a good sized balcony and overall it's a friendly place to stay. But after last nights' treatment where local bar staff put themselves before paying customers ???? All I can say is that there are many good, clean looking competitive hotels in the very small location that Cala d'or is.More
