Myself, my husband and two children ( boys aged 8 and 2) came to stay recently from the 19th for a week. The apartment was perfect, it was very clean, we were on the third floor with great views and a bigger than expected balcony. The beds were very comfortable too and there was a well equipt kitchen. The place had some great facilities for the kids, the swimming pool for instance was really good, I loved the fact it had a bigger pool for the older kids and adults and the smaller pool for the babies and toddlers, though they were not heated and were a tad too cold when you first got in, my eldest especially loved them. They have a small splash pool too which a lot of the kids inc my eldest enjoyed. The play area was great too. The entertainment for the kids was very good, they had a mini disco at 8.30pm every eve for about an hour (we only went to one of the discos) where the kids are invited up on stage to do some dancing with the entertainer and played a game afterwards. They had kids club twice a day (morning and then afternoon) where they go off with the entertainment staff and do various activities (our son only did the morning one) this is for a few hours at a time and parents must stay within the resort whilst it's taking place. We didn't stay for the later entertainment on any of days there as we had to get our kids to bed so not sure what that was like. The entertainment staff were fantastic though. The reception staff were extremely helpful, and very friendly, lovely people. The food was nice too (we had a buffet breakfast one of the mornings we were there). The resort itself was in a really good area, just a few minutes walk and u have shops and restaurants. There were so many lovely places to choose from to eat. The marina is fantastic, so many beautiful boats around to see and plenty of good restaurants to choose from too. I felt like we were in Monaco. So beautiful there. The local beaches were gorgeous. I've never seen so much white sand and clear waters since I went to Hawaii with my husband on our honeymoon. We hired a car for a few days out there and travelled some of the East Coast, South west and North. Amazing. So many beautiful sights to see and so glad we did it. The weather was a bit iffy a couple of the days we were there but with so much beauty around it didn't put us off. We had an amazing week away there. The resort was brilliant and Cala d'or itself was incredible. Can't wait to go back in a couple of years time.More

Great for families, awful for couples
This hotel is very hard for me to review as we spent so little time here. I booked it solely on the 4.5 out of 5 rating without reading many of the reviews, what a mistake that was. If I researched it better I would have realised it is totally unsuitable for couples. This hotel caters for families. There were kids everywhere, screaming kids from dawn till dusk. We survived all of 10 minutes by the pool before being overwhelmed by the noise and retreating to the beach. The whole resort is family orientated, so even the beach was not a relaxing experience. Fortunately we had friends who were staying round the corner in an adults only hotel and we spent our entire week at their hotel, only returning to shower and sleep, (when the screaming baby next door allowed). What we did see of the hotel was mostly positive, staff were friendly, rooms were basic but clean and comfortable, pool and bar area were clean. In conclusion, I do not want to give this hotel too bad a review as if you are a family with small kids I think it would be ideal for you, if you are a couple looking for a relaxing time avoid this hotel and this resort.More
Lovely relaxing stay
I stayed in these apartments last week with my husband and 8 month old baby and we really enjoyed our stay. We requested a ground floor apartment with a cot before we arrived and this was provided. The apartment was clean and very well equipped with a microwave, kettle, toaster etc. Room was cleaned every other day and was spotless. As it was still out of season, the hotel wasn't full but was still busy enough. Thwre was no problem gerting sub loungers although I imagine it would be different in July or August. All staff were very friendly and worked hard. Although our baby was too young for the kids club, the other children seemed to love the entertainment staff and the activities. The activities took place in or beside the pool so parents could still keep an eye on their children. Night time entertainment wasn't amazing but suited our needs. We had breakfast in the hotel which we ordered each morning rather than a buffet, probably because of the time of year. This was nice and always freshly cooked. Didn't have lunch or dinner so cannot comment on this. There are plenty of nice restaurants in Cala D'or and all are child - friendly. I would definitely recommend Indiana Johns in the main square for variety of food and friendly staff. We went to an Abba tribute show one night in Tropical Gardens which was good although the food wasn't great. Other families were there too and although we didn't stay late it was nice to have some suitable entertainment. Also don't miss Cala D'ice ice-cream stand. Beautiful ice-cream & very reasonableMore

Second visit to Cala d'Or Playa
We last visited here in October last year and when we decided to have another holiday in early 2015 we spent weeks searching for hotels across the whole of Europe, but in the end we decided to come back to stay at Cala d'Or Playa again as we couldn't do an better! We had a good room last time (203) which was a superior room with a bath overlooking the pool. Massive room with plenty of space for all our luggage as well as for our three year old to run around, and great having a bedroom separate from the living space (how I wish this was the norm!) The hotel is immaculate throughout with the cleaners doing an excellent job, and bed linen changed every day. The furnishings are top notch. We liked how the room was overlooking the pool and we even had a little bit of a sea view. Our three year old really enjoyed going to the pool most days and playing in the playground where she made some friends she'll remember for a long while (one of which had the same name!). She especially enjoyed the mini-disco on the evening, a bit scared of it at first but after a couple of nights she was up and dancing on the stage, and loved it when she won the pass the parcel competition and got a prize cocktail! The staff at the mini disco were especially excellent in getting the kids involved and up and dancing, she especially enjoyed the running from one end of the room to the other! Negatives for there must be some! The food in the hotel isn't great, passable perhaps but the pizza I had was obviously frozen and just about inedible. But that's not a massive issue as Cala d'Or has probably the best selection of restaurants anywhere and it's 10 minute walk away. It was a bit noisy at night due to the nighttime entertainment going on until 11.30ish, but we did choose the room right above the stage! The wifi was slow and very unreliable, and locking it down to one device is crazy, it's not 2002 any more. Our daughter starts school in September and we aren't able to afford the school holiday prices so I don't know if or when we'll be back, but hopefully we will!More

We have just returned from this hotel. It has a good location, close to the city center and beaches. We have stayed in the apartment on the top floor with sea view. Apartment itself is wonderful, except the bed - it was not very comfortable. Also cleaning services could be improved. Overall, we are happy with our stay.More
