Cala Bona

Laid-back atmosphere

Set on Majorca’s east coast, Cala Bona is a relaxed fishing town that comes with plenty of rustic charm. Fishermen bring in the day’s catch at the harbour ready for lunch at the waterfront restaurants, while the original winding streets are ripe for exploring. There’s also a pedestrianised modern centre with shops and bars, and a choice of little sandy beaches.

Sandy beaches

Cala Bona’s beach is a patchwork of small sandy spots divided up by manmade rocky coves and breakwaters. From here to neighbouring Cala Millor, you’ve got around 2 kilometres to play with, and a promenade filled with shops, bars and eateries runs between the 2 resorts. As for the water, it’s nice and calm – although you’ll need to watch out for the rocks when you’re getting in.

Easy-going nights

Cala Bona isn’t a boisterous resort so you won’t find neon lights and late-night clubs. What you will get is leisurely meals at the harbourfront restaurants and cocktails overlooking the sea. Quiz nights and karaoke count as lively here – though a 15-minute walk to Cala Millor will bring you pacier clubs and discos.

Daytrips to the Caves of Drach

You’re just 20 minutes away from one of Majorca’s biggest tourist draws – the famous Caves of Drach. Here you can see colourful stalagmites and stalactites and take in a concert at one of the world’s biggest underground lakes. And even closer, just outside the resort, there’s the Punta de n’Amer nature reserve – the dunes and pine forests are perfect for walks.
