Hotel Astoria Playa

A beachside spot, a restaurant starring Majorcan recipes, and regular evening entertainment make the Astoria Playa a great choice for couples. Inside, the modern rooms go for a streamlined theme. And in 2013, a sleek new pool joined the hotel's line-up.

The Astoria Playa is a real all-rounder. To begin with, it’s in a great location. It’s just across the road from an 8-kilometre stretch of soft white sand, 5 minutes from a good selection of restaurants, and less than 20 minutes from Alcudia Marina and its water-side bars.

The facilities at the hotel are impressive, too. For 2013 there’s a brand new pool with hydro-massage areas, plus a separate chill-out pool bordered by stylish Balinese beds. There’s a bar right next to the water, so you don’t need to go far for refreshments. When you’re not swimming, you can have a game of tennis or crazy golf.

In the evenings, you can tuck in to Majorcan and international dishes in the restaurant, or on the terrace overlooking the chill-out pool.

Bedrooms here have recently had a makeover, so you can expect minimalist décor, sleek flatscreen TVs and stylish parquet floors.

Good hotel and food

Hotel recently refurbished and in overall good condition. Good food, rooms nice but basic, friendly staff, convenient location We stayed on a half board basis which provided breakfast and dinner. Selection changed on a daily basis and had a live station as well as normal buffet type options, making it easy to eat over many days and not constantly have the same food. Hotel is in a good location, near many shops and bars and not noisy either. The beach is a short walk away and was convenient to get to, but you do have to cross a few roads as it isn't beachside. The rooms were clean but basic if I'm honest, especially if comparing with other hotels with similar ratings. Average beds and sheets, room tv very small, bathroom had all the basics required. It's a good hotel and I would recommend especially if you wanted your meals included for a good price.More

Our visit

Absolutely an amazing place . Food outstanding , staff adorable. Hygiene to the highest standard. Can't fault one thing the weather has been beautiful too. The beach is 5 minutes away clear waters and soft sand between your toes . Will definately be returning very soon. Leaving at 4am on 28th Oct. But wish we wasn't .More

Amanda H,

This is a proper Hotel

This Hotel was recommended by a friend. All he said was true. Hotel Staff all very Happy and friendly. Whole Hotel is excellent. Very good Dinning Room and very smart throughout. Wasn't keen on the Flemenco Night but you can't please all people at all times. Good Entertainment otherwise. I will certainly recommend to friends and family and will certainly return to this Hotel.More

Second Brilliant Visit

We've just returned from our second stay at the Astoria Playa and again it's been fantastic. The changes to the Reception are stunning. Several of the staff still work there and amazingly, given the number of guests that must have stayed in the year since we first were there, remembered us as if it were only yesterday. The standards are as high if not higher and the attention to detail is really noticed. It is a superb adults only hotel and well worth staying there. You won't be disappointed. More

"Simply Fantastic"

Returned from here yesterday and wanted to share my views of this "Simply Fantastic" Hotel. After several visits to Alcudia over the years my Mum and I opted for this adult only hotel. As a mother to 2 children this was my idea of a real break and boy I wasn't disappointed. After a extremely long evening transfer from the airport we were greeted by the lovely Walter who checked us in as swiftly as possible (I think he could tell we were ready for our beds). The room was great - looked out over the back of the hotel with a extremely big balcony that had the sun all day. The rooms were clean and serviced daily by the maids who do a great job. The food on offer for breakfast and dinner was excellent with lots of choice for even the fussiest of eaters and the grill where the meats/fish were cooked was amazing. I can honestly say in the 7 days we were there I didn't see a duplicate dish once. We used the pool at the rear of the hotel and had no problems with sun bed shortages as some hotels do - they were extremely comfy too so much so that most of my days were spent there. The pool area was very clean with the added bonus of a whirlpool. The beach is very close by with a lovely walk into the centre of Alcudia. We visited the market which takes place every Sunday & Tuesday - this is a lovely part of the older town with some beautiful buildings, pretty little side streets and cafés to just sit and take everything in. It does get busy so try to get there early if you can - a Taxi costs about €7 or a bus service is available near the hotel. During our stay my Mum celebrated her birthday and was treated to a cake and bottle of champagne and a lovely Spanish rendition of "Happy Birthday" by Adeline and her lovely waitresses - thank you. The evening entertainment was good - some evenings better then others but still managed a little boogie with some lovely ladies. The last thing I'd like to mention is the service here. Dealing with the public myself It is aways something that I personally take pride in so expect a certain level when I'm on the receiving end and the service here exceeded my expectations. It was great to see the management out and about but the waiting staff are amazing - from Fritz at Breakfast to the lovely Lili who served us our drinks in the evening and not forgetting the wonderful Juan who looked after us by the pool during the day and even helped clear up after to my horror the cocktail I was about to drink slipped out of my hand straight onto the floor - it was swiftly replaced I will just say. You all do a fantastic job and the management should be proud of you. Great standards have been set here - make sure you keep it up the great work you all do. All in all this is a great hotel for a relaxing break and some much needed r&r - I would definitely recommend a stay here.More
