Hotel Astoria Playa

A beachside spot, a sleek pool scene, and a restaurant with lots of options make the Astoria Playa a great choice for couples.

Astoria Playa is just across the road from an eight-kilometre stretch of white sand. Then, there’s the good selection of restaurants within a five-minute walk. The waterside bars at Alcudia Marina, meanwhile, are a 10-minute taxi ride away.

The hotel’s inside spaces have a contemporary look, with chunky red furniture to offset the whitewashed walls. Monochrome colours, flat-screen TVs and spotlights carry on the designer feel in the bedrooms.

Superb service, food and value

We have just returned from a 5 day break at the Hotel Astoria Playa, Mallorca. The hotel is adults only which was our first experience of such a hotel. The hotel is a modern complex with a trendy reception area. The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful, particularly Mitat who seemed to be there from morning until night. Don't be put off by the town, as we drove into the area it was a bit 'Benidorm' with lots of Brit bars and gift shops and the hotel is a little out of place in this area which could do with some love and attention. That said, it was just out of season so may not be quite ready for the tourists yet. I am a cyclist (but did not cycle) yet the set up in the hotel is ideal with tented bike stands outside with pumps, lubes etc. The room was clean and bright with a huge modern Smart TV. Aircon was ok but not brilliant. The Wi-Fi is free and is excellent and can be used anywhere in the grounds. We never struggled for a sun bed and the waiting staff around the pool and lifeguard were equally as friendly and polite. Towels are included for a refundable deposit of 10 euros each. The pool is very cold but when its hot you can appreciate that but it takes some getting used to. The evening entertainment was a good standard for a hotel. The restaurant was excellent with good quality fresh food and lots to choose from. Be warned that you must wear trousers (men) in the evening. I did not have any. They politely informed me after dinner and then had a selection of trousers to 'borrow' free of charge! The drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel. The beach is a 3 minute walk away and you can then walk all the way to the marina which is about 25mins. There is a market in the old town on Sundays and the bus stops almost outside the hotel. The market has lots to choose from including good quality fake leather goods and watches (if you like that sort of thing). We left in the early hours and the restaurant kindly opened up for us at 0430hrs so we could have some breakfast. Overall really impressed with the staff, food and hotel. Our only negative is the location but this is reflected in the price and is no fault of the hotel.More

Top quality & friendly hotel 5*

One of the best hotels we have stayed in quite frankly! The hotel itself was exceptionally clean, the hotel staff from the receptionists, bar staff to the dining waiters were all so very polite and would stop at nothing to help you with any request we had. Every time we past a staff member they would always say good day/evening. One night was very hot and we couldn't get the air con to work as it was noisey outside so had to close out balcony doors. Next morning we told reception that we think it was broken and they told us that this time of year is their winter so it isn't on. Even though it was a headache for them to turn it on as they would've had to turn on all the air con in all rooms on that level, they still did it for us for a couple days! Can't fault their helpfulness one bit! During our stay my partner and I got engaged. We mentioned it to Sanaa about this on the way to dinner, and when we returned to our room afterwards there was a bottle of chilled wine and glasses waiting for us! Amazing attention to detail when dealing with guests to make them feel welcome and valued! Free wifi with a strong reception was a big plus! You can have up to 3 devices for the free wifi. Only a short walk to the beach and close to an assortment of gift shops, supermarkets and plenty of pubs/bars and restaurants. The only couple ideas that we think would benefit for further guests' stay including our own again in the future would be: Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Maybe swap the 'sofa' for a little table for this? A written welcome pack in the room that gives details of the hotel (map), reminder of breakfast and dinner times, local activities etc. Heated pool would be wonderful as in May the water was freezing, too cold for most of the guests to get in which was a shame as I wanted to have a swim. Overall, we would recommend this hotel to everyone! If you want a top quality hotel with great food and excellent service in a chilled out environment then please book here at The Astoria Playa Hotel. You definitely wont be disappointed! We will be returning in the future for sure!More

Excellent hotel

Another great 8 days spent at this marvellous hotel, from 29th April. The position is ideal for the beach, 20mins stroll to the port or bus to Alcudia old town (our favourite). Can only repeat everyone else's comments - food, cleanliness and staff all superb. Special thanks to you, Sanaa, for your attention to detail, particularly on our last evening - you know what we mean !! (Quattro, dos, dos) Will hopefully be back before longMore

Astoria Playa

Having just returned from at weeks stay at this hotel I feel compelled to write a review about this fantastic hotel. We arrived quite late in the evening and were met by friendly and helpful reception staff. Everything that we needed to know was explained and we were soon in our room. Our first impression was how clean and modern everything was. The room had good quality bedding, toiletries, tea, coffee making facilities and a big large screen TV. Although the TV was not of great importance it seems to have a wide selection of channels from around the world. The restaurant was modern with great selections of food both at breakfast and dinner with a good selection cooked to order. It might be important to mention the staff. All the staff from manager to cleaner could not have been more friendly, courteous and genuinely pleased to help. The front of house are very well trained in every department. There is evening entertainment which begins at 2130 and generally finished just after eleven. The standard was very good and well received. During the day there are two pools to choose from and an outside area serving a selection of snacks and drinks. The hotel is located close (within meters of bus stops) so if you don't fancy walking up to Port Alcudia or the old town you can hop a bus at a cost of €1.55 euros. Palma is about an hour by bus for €6 euros. In summary this is a hotel which deserves its stars one I would readily return to and I would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so comfortable.More

Twenty stayed at the Asoria this year at the end of April and I would like to thank Pep and his whole team for their excellent service. I can honestly say that every single member of the Astoria Team is very welcoming and always had time for every individual in the team. The bike storage system is great and you just need to understand this, which involves your bike boxes and bikes being stored in secure looked gate cabins just opposite the hotel. No one enters the bike storage area unless accompanied by a member of staff. Brilliant. The food was great and the staff are constantly working to Peps instructions for improvements at each sitting... As the organiser of our trip I have never been able to please everyone, but the Astoria has just pleased every member on the trip.. That's a first for us... Although the Astoria is a large hotel, the team have managed to give you that family feel in the way they conduct themselves... My congratulations to Chelsea for her management of the bar area... Would I stay again.... You bet I would... We are even looking to send our teenage daughters there later in the year... John SmithMore
