A beachside spot, a restaurant starring Majorcan recipes, and regular evening entertainment make the Astoria Playa a great choice for couples. Inside, the modern rooms go for a streamlined theme. And in 2013, a sleek new pool joined the hotel's line-up.
The Astoria Playa is a real all-rounder. To begin with, it’s in a great location. It’s just across the road from an 8-kilometre stretch of soft white sand, 5 minutes from a good selection of restaurants, and less than 20 minutes from Alcudia Marina and its water-side bars.
The facilities at the hotel are impressive, too. For 2013 there’s a brand new pool with hydro-massage areas, plus a separate chill-out pool bordered by stylish Balinese beds. There’s a bar right next to the water, so you don’t need to go far for refreshments. When you’re not swimming, you can have a game of tennis or crazy golf.
In the evenings, you can tuck in to Majorcan and international dishes in the restaurant, or on the terrace overlooking the chill-out pool.
Bedrooms here have recently had a makeover, so you can expect minimalist décor, sleek flatscreen TVs and stylish parquet floors.
We have stayed at this hotel 4 times now, twice before the refurbishment, last year and this year for 5 days from 18 - 23 September . The hotel has had more improvements carried out for this season and the addition of the beach bar at the front pool is excellent, together with the new comfy sunbeds. We had a room on the 6th floor (621) which was as nice as last year with the addition of a full length mirror being added to the room. The room did not have a refurbished bathroom though, however this in no way had any impact on our thoughts of this great hotel. As usual the food was excellent and even the fussiest of eaters would have found it hard not to find something nice to eat. We very rarely stayed in to watch the entertainment as we have friends who work in Alcudia so tended to go out to their bars in the evenings but what we did see was very good. The staff are the most friendliest and helpful people you will come across and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will be returning again in September 2015.More

Just returned from a 10 day stay at the Astoria, for the second year running, and once again we had a fabulous time. Last year we thought the hotel was "top notch" but this year it has got even better! The new sun loungers and pool bar are an excellent addition to the already super facilities. The food is varied and of a high standard and the restaurant is a very pleasant place to dine, bright, well laid out and spotless. The rooms (we were in a twin room No 606) whilst being compact, are modern, well maitained and cleaned every day. The evening entertainment is mainly tribute acts, however, is always varied and of a good standard. There is free Wi- Fi available with the password being changed on a weekly basis.
It is, however, the staff who take this hotel to"another level", they are quite simply the most pleasant, cheerful and nice bunch of people you could wish to meet. From arrival where Adeline, Monica and Danny in reception greet you with a lovely smile. When you dine in the restaurant Paqui and Melana are always smiling and chatty. The daytime and evening bar staff are also so pleasant and friendly in particular Fritz and astorias own "dirty dancing" duo of Susana and Francis. It all adds up to a holiday where you find you are smiling every day from dawn till dusk. We will most definately making a return trip next year.
Gracias Astoria Playa, see you next year.More

First Couples Holiday
My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel from 14/09/14 - 21/09/14. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the reception staff, and taken through details of our stay such as safe hire and towel hire etc. The reception is pristinely cleaned and very nicely decorated. We were showed to our room, which was on the first floor, which was lovely. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated, with a monsoon shower and sofa. You definitely don't need to worry about the warmth because the air con is very impressive, some nights I was almost too cold! The one downside about our room was that the view from our balcony was a little restricted, but it got sun all day so not too bad.
The breakfast is wonderful. There is a massive selection of foods and they taste great. I highly recommend sampling their chocolate covered pastries they make, they are delicious! However, dinner was confusing. We found that, personally, one night you would have a delicious meal and then other nights you may not find much and the quality was not as good. I am not sure if this was due to a change around of chefs, but the standard of food was not always consistent. Another small thing is that the only drink options for dinner were bottles of wine, beer or soft drinks. One night we tried to order something else and it was not received very well. Expanding the drinks menu a little would have made it better.
The entertainment was very, very good. We did not see every single night, but we saw the red party, Abba act and the Arabian/ flamenco fusion. We particularly enjoyed the Abba girls. The atmosphere is great during the entertainment, with many of the waiters dancing around to the music.
The cocktails are a little on the pricey side, but they are some of the best ones I have tasted. The waiter recommended a Mallorcan Mojito and it was amazing. Both pools are very nice. Some people may have found them a little cold, but after being in the heat all day I found them to be the perfect temperature. They are very clean and tidy at all times.
The hotel itself is close to the beach and many shops and restaurants. There is a bus stop very near which takes you to Alcudia town centre, Inca, Palma, Can Picafort etc.
Final notes: I would recommend getting their towels, you only leave a deposit and get that back at the end. Fresh, fluffy towels everyday were nice. The safes were good too, pretty sturdy.
Thank you very much to the whole of the Hotel Astoria Playa team for a wonderful holiday! We will be coming back, it was lovely.More

What an impressive hotel!
Stayed here in September 2014, everything about this hotel was great!
Upon arrival everyone in reception was friendly, welcoming and more than willing to tell us all about the hotel and excursions around the island. The room was lovely and clean with sheets and towels changed daily. A safe was available for a small fee.
There was a great selection of food to meet everyone's taste and it was all beautifully cooked. Everything was made fresh (such as croissants baked at breakfast) and many dishes were cooked right in front of you just as pasta, fish and the meat of the day. A bar tab was available for drinks and during the day a waiter walked around the smaller pool taking orders for and bringing you drinks. I would highly recommend the fresh fruit juices and cocktails which were AMAZING.
The pools themselves were lovely with the most comfiest sun beds I've ever used in my life! Both pools had hot tubs and shallow areas where you could sit if you didn't want to swim- a lovely touch. There was also music played by the pool side, even a DJ some days. Would also highly recommend getting a Thai massage as the lady was amazing and it wasn't expensive at all.
Evening entertainment was mostly tribute acts but they were all pretty damn good. It was the staff who really made this hotel- nothing was too much to ask and everyone was always friendly and chatty, joking around and making you laugh. We especially loved Fritz who really looked after us and quickly became a great friend.
We will be back for sure :)More
