A beachside spot, a sleek pool scene, and a restaurant with lots of options make the Astoria Playa a great choice for couples.
Astoria Playa is just across the road from an eight-kilometre stretch of white sand. Then, there’s the good selection of restaurants within a five-minute walk. The waterside bars at Alcudia Marina, meanwhile, are a 10-minute taxi ride away.
The hotel’s inside spaces have a contemporary look, with chunky red furniture to offset the whitewashed walls. Monochrome colours, flat-screen TVs and spotlights carry on the designer feel in the bedrooms.
Fantastic hotel, the only place to stay in Alcudia!!
I've just returned from 2 amazing weeks in Alcudia and I cannot praise this hotel enough, it's simply fantastic!!
The standards kept are impeccable, the whole hotel is immaculate and the customer service is 2nd to none.
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in a hotel for couples only then look no further then the Astoria Playa.
The food and drink is great, varied and good quality but what really makes this hotel is the staff. I've never stayed anywhere where the staff have been so friendly all the time, make me feel so welcome and actually add to the quality of my holiday. The staff here are simply amazing and their standards immense!
The only slight negative is that I paid to upgrade to a superior room and although clean and well presented I wouldn't say there was anything superior about it. There is nothing wrong with the room, it just simply is very standard to my expectations but that is the only slight issue as besides this the Astoria Playa is one of the best places I've ever stayed abroad.More
Great Hotel and Super Friendly Staff
We've just returned from Astoria Playa where we stayed while I was competing in the Ironman race.
The hotel was fantastic and without doubt the best feature of the hotel is the staff. They were all really friendly and helpful even with me arriving quite stressed and almost 'diva' like because of the race a few days later.
The hotel isn't quite perfect as the rating suggests, but the little problems are far outweighed by the big things that the hotel gets perfectly right and it would be unfair to mark them down, as this is a 4-star hotel and does things that aren't quite to our liking, but I'm sure for others will be fine.
Iâll break down the review:
Staff - As already stated, they are fantastic, they are super friendly from the reception staff, the Bell Boy, Waiting staff, bar staff, chefs and even the cleaners. Usually in a fairly large hotel there are bad eggs, but not here, I couldn't be more complimentary of them if I tried. The owner and manager are always on hand and obviously great at motivating their team.
Cleanliness - The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. It's quite an old hotel but been refurbished to a high level and very modern. Top to bottom it was impossible to fault the cleanliness of the hotel.
Food â We stayed half board, usually when we have stayed at other hotels half board we have usually eaten out, but the food at the hotel was of such good quality. The breakfasts were plentiful and the food at the evening meals really good. There is show cooking and one small criticism would be the food should be more free-flowing from it.
Facilities â The pool area was great, probably the only hotel Iâve ever stayed at where people donât reserve sun beds.
Ironman â The hotel laid on special facilities for the Ironman athletes, this included secure lock-ups for the bikes (I wanted to keep the bike in the room, but was assured they were secure and would be fine). Breakfast was laid on very early for the athletes which was great. There was hotel entertainment, which I was concerned about as itâs usually outside and would have been right outside our room. I asked if it could be moved indoors for the evening and thankfully it was (so grateful of this)
Rooms â The rooms are well appointed, but very small (and we booked a superior room). The beds were really comfy. Parts of the bathroom (especially the floor) were quite dated, but still all clean, so no real problem. There is a safe in the room, but there is a charge, the first time for years Iâve been charged and a policy thatâs pretty outdated. The walls are pretty thin and can hear most things from neighbouring rooms, but I know Iâm quite sensitive to noise.
Wi-Fi â This is free, but it super, super slow, I guess you canât have everything
All in all, the hotel was great and would definitely stay again. Thanks again everyone for making the stay so pleasant for us.More
Outstanding! Fantastic hotel, great service and friendly, helpful staff
I don't really know where to start with this review as everything about the hotel was fantastic. This was our last adults only holiday for a while before the arrival of our baby in December so I was hopeful based on the reviews I had seen, but realistic enough to know that opinions and views can differ...... well I can honestly say everything about the hotel surpassed our expectations. We were only there for 4 nights but came away feeling rested and relaxed and it felt like we'd been away for much longer. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this hotel!
On arrival we were greeted by one of the many lovely receptionists Monica. Things got off to a great start when were told we'd been upgraded to a suite as they'd run out of pool view rooms. The suite, like the rest of the hotel, was beautiful, clean, comfortable and contemporary.
The two pool areas were very relaxing with lovely comfy sunbeds and plenty of shade if you needed it. We never struggled to get a sunbed.
There was always a fantastic selection of food at breakfast and dinner, far better than I have experienced before in a buffet style. The live cooking stations gave a great selection of meats and fish, with something to suit every taste. I have several food allergies which can make it tricky sometimes (coupled with being pregnant it can be a real challenge!) but again the staff were incredible. The head waiter offered me additional breakfast options and the head chef came out every evening to talk me through which dishesI could eat. He even cooked wheat free spaghetti for me one evening, offered to make me a wheat and egg free pizza and made me a sorbet as I couldn't eat the ice cream. All this was done with a smile and I never felt like it was an inconvenience, it was a real personal touch that I didn't expect.
All of the staff throughout the hotel were friendly, happy and helpful and all seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. We didn't see a single grumpy face which was so refreshing and made the holiday even more enjoyable.
The evening entertainment was always to a very high standard, again exceeding our expectations. Even when we weren't sure it was going to be our thing we came away impressed.
Location wise the hotel is within walking distance to the beach and harbour.....although we enjoyed the hotel so much that we only left once!
We were so impressed by the staff, service and standards of the hotel that we felt we had to speak with the owner to give him feedback. His approach is so positive and refreshing, he is genuinely passionate about creating a fantastic environment for people to relax and enjoy their holidays. His view is that if the staff are happy, the guests are too and it certainly works.
Sanna from Public Relations was an absolute sweetheart throughout our stay and on departure gave us both a lovely hug.....we both left with a little tear in our eye such was the impression made. Thank you to all of the staff at Astoria Playa for making our break so relaxing and enjoyable. We will most certainly be returning as soon as our baby is old enough to leave at home for a short break! :-)More
The Staff make this Hotel special
Visited as part of Ironman Mallorca so as you can imagine was stressed even before we got to the Hotel! We had a suite facing the front of the Hotel which probably affords the best views but there is noise from the local bars till around 11.30pm although I suspect this would be true of any large Hotel in the area. Room was clean, large and well maintained although toilet area could be a little bigger. The two pools were also well maintained and towels are available for the beach or pool. The buffet food is just that, but the Hotel provide a good selection of hot and cold food and make it just about as good as it could be. Overall the Hotel accommodation is good but nothing exceptional, however the service received by the staff is exceptional. They were always helpful, friendly and willing to give advice if you needed it. For anyone staying for the Ironman they have dedicated bike rooms and build areas making that whole bike build process just a little easier to manage. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone especially if you are doing the IronmanMore

Fantastic Adult only holiday
I visited this hotel back in May. I never write reviews but this one is well worth the time to do. If you picture the scene, we all walk about and look over walls at other hotels and think they are amazing and wish you were staying there? Well this hotel was one of those, the amount of people I saw looking over the back side gate and saying wow. Hotel, cleanliness, food all fabulous. Pools excellent and the comfort of the pool side beds wow what can I say, true luxury. The staff were amazing too, extremely helpful and pleasant. Entertainment was good, first night not but they sacked them and said they would not be back. Everything this hotel strives to do is to make a brilliant experience for couples. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.More
