A beachside spot, a restaurant starring Majorcan recipes, and regular evening entertainment make the Astoria Playa a great choice for couples. Inside, the modern rooms go for a streamlined theme. And in 2013, a sleek new pool joined the hotel's line-up.
The Astoria Playa is a real all-rounder. To begin with, it’s in a great location. It’s just across the road from an 8-kilometre stretch of soft white sand, 5 minutes from a good selection of restaurants, and less than 20 minutes from Alcudia Marina and its water-side bars.
The facilities at the hotel are impressive, too. For 2013 there’s a brand new pool with hydro-massage areas, plus a separate chill-out pool bordered by stylish Balinese beds. There’s a bar right next to the water, so you don’t need to go far for refreshments. When you’re not swimming, you can have a game of tennis or crazy golf.
In the evenings, you can tuck in to Majorcan and international dishes in the restaurant, or on the terrace overlooking the chill-out pool.
Bedrooms here have recently had a makeover, so you can expect minimalist décor, sleek flatscreen TVs and stylish parquet floors.
Stayed last week , our expectations were high after the reviews and we were not disappointed . We have stayed in lots of 4 star hotels and this was by far the best , lovely modern decor , very clean , staff very helpful and friendly , food varied and good quality .We emailed a request for a high room in advance and were given a room on the 6th floor at the front which was perfect - thanks to reception for that.
The position of the Hotel is perfect with beach , shops , taxis , road train ,cycle hire ( Eco bikes €7 per day ) all close by.
Would certainly recommend and hope to stay again in the future.More

Just returned from a weeks holiday at this refurbished Ikea style hotel.Cleanliness, food, entertainment, staff all very good. The lounge pool/sun bed area is open to the general public who can walk in off the street and use all the facilities that guests have paid for therefore this hotel is not exclusive. On Tuesday night the Red Party entertainment was still going strong at 1.30am in the morning with lots of staff shouting, screaming and jumping in the pool. We rang reception to report this but nothing was done, the noise carried on. Not quite what we expected from a "4 star" and will not be returning. Very disappointed!More

Very good staff
I spent 7 days in August in the Astoria Playa Hotel.
The best aspect of this hotel is its staff.
That is a very good team and you can really feel the good team Spirit in this hotel.
The food is very good. Lots of choice and good quality.
The standard rooms a very clean but VERY small.
The shows at night are not excellents but ok.
There are 2 swimming pools. The main swimming pool is nice but is surrounded by roads and you can see the cars. Would have good to put more trees and plants to completely hide the roads. That said, it is not really noisy.
Astoria playa is not a beautiful town however the old town of Asturia is very nice.
The beach is very nice but crowded during the peak season.
The hotel is not on the beach and would need more greenery along the park in order to hide the roads surrounding the hotel and improve the "cosy experience" but globally it is a good hotel with very good service and staff. The management is doing a good job.

Great relaxing break.
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in anywhere in
Europe and absolutley the best we have stayed at in a
Spanish resort. The staff are superb and always speak to you
without any hesitation whether at reception, dining room,
housekeeping or at the bars.
The rooms are excellent, very clean with lovely comfortable
memory foam mattresses. The food on offer is excellent and
what a variety at breakfast and dinner. The food is always
fresh and being constantly refilled. The croissants were
very often still warm at breakfast as they keep making fresh
ongoing. Wide range of meals at dinner which
would suit even the most picky eater and of excellent quality.
There are 2 pool areas, we never used the one at the back
so can't really comment on it but it looked good. We used the
new pool built at the front and the sunloungers were very
comfortable, the pool well designed, great staff on duty at
the bar and a helpful lifeguard who helped some people
who had disabilities use the pool and is a credit to the hotel.
Location is excellent with the beach a couple of minutes
away, shops & bars etc all around but no noise to keep
us awake once the hotel entertainment ended at 11.30
nightly, this very popular with good acts every night of
our stay (11 nights)
A couple of niggles about front pool, a couple of times
the music volume would get overly loud( I was listening
to rock music on my mp3 with in ear phones and I had
to give up on one occasion )
Also the fact that the pool was open to non residents who
could come in and have drinks, use the pool & the sunbeds
which wasn't something we expected from such a good
quality hotel. It wasn't abused but staff from other hotels
were noticed several times using the facilities (although
we did notice on one day residents came out early
afternoon couldn't get sunloungers as there were a few
groups of non residents using them) but this may become
a problem if not controlled by the management.
We would have no second thoughts about coming back
and staying again as we thorougly enjoyed our stay but
will check on Trip Adisor for any further comments about
the pool situation with regards to non residents.
That aside we would give the hotel 4.5 out of 5.More

Day 2 of our holiday. the astoria is one of the best hotels we have been in, excellent location, clean with the most comfortable sunloungers. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is very good with a wide selection to suit all tastes. The evening entertainment on our first evening was good, a Robbie Williams plus act, my wife commented that the waiting staff always used clean white clothes to clean the tables in the restaurant.
