Original booking was self catering, but upon arrival we upgraded to all inclusive. Great price for the upgrade, most definitely worth upgrading, food was great, apartments were spacious, how ever the sofa beds weren't really ideal for 2, but was only a long weekend so wasn't so bad. There was 11 of us, as we upgraded we didn't really use the room facilities, bathroom was adequate for what we needed. There were 2 pools which was fabulous, our apartment was across the road from the main hotel, but there is a under Road tunnel, which was brilliant. Very clean comfortable, staff polite and friendly, you can order bar snacks at the pool bar which were fabulous. There was an on site photographer, who took our pictures, a little pricey for pictures, but was definitely worth it I would definitely stay here again, and most certainly recommend it. It's a short walk down to the old town harbour Mulligan bar is always a must visit. More
Apartments 239 is noisy in the bedroom as it's by the walkway and you can hear noise from bar and kids running about but if u sleep in the lounge on the sofas ,it's quiet. Sofas are ok to sleep on as I was worried about reviews. Our apartment hasn't been renovated yet but building work is going on across the road where the studios are. Splash park.amd play area right outsode our apartment, looks fab for.kids tbf. Apartments equipped with everything you need Inc microwave and coffee maker . NO AIR CON . TV remote is 10 euro deposit which you get back. Buffet style restaurant looks nice and prices are 6.50 euro for brekki, evening meal 11 euros. There is also a pool bar near the main pool. The other pool is neat studios and no bar there. Large balconies to sit on with table and chairs. On site supermarket is reasonable but the SPAR just round the corner is cheaper . This place is within 5 mins walking of the MARINA . Friendly staff ,clean & lots to do for.kids . Inc kids club . Definetly will re book amd bring granddaughter. More
Well worth your consideration
I'm torn between a three star or four star rating for the THB Flora but eventually decided upon a close four. The reason why I find this hotel difficult to rate is because although it has many positive factors, it also has some negatives which might be significant for some people. I visited the hotel for 10 days in April on a self catering basis with 2 adults and 2 children and stayed in one of their family apartments with terrace. ACCOMMODATION Thankfully we weren't in an apartment around the pool where the evening entertainment is loud and frantic but we were in an apartment on the hotel reception side next to a rather busy road. This wasn't a major problem, I brought ear plugs with me but for light sleepers this may be rather off-putting as it can be noisy in the early hours. The apartment was sufficent for a base and was relatively clean but it was a bit run-down and could do with investing a little money and sprucing up. We're talking wonky electric sockets, mismatched kitchen and fairly retro furniture. Also, although my mattress was comfortable, my partner wasn't as fortunate. Check your mattress to ensure it is comfortable on arrival and request a new one if it isn't. We noticed that the children were not provided with sheets for their sofa bed and we had to request them. The sofa beds were actually mattresses on slabs of stone; not the most comfortable of sleeping conditions. The rooms were cleaned most days adequately. Also, anticipate noise from other rooms; the walls aren't the best sound proofed. Gardens/landscaping really nice and looked after to a good standard; nice to see. STAFF The staff were all courteous and professional. If you need something they will sort it out to the best of their ability and help you out. The only thing I would add here is that we didn't feel particularly welcomed. There wasn't really a member of staff that stood out as actually making any effort to welcome us to the hotel or provide a bit of banter so the whole experience felt a bit wooden. FOOD For the first few nights we ate out but after checking out the hotel restaurant we upgraded to half-board as the standard and variety of food was better than expected. It was also incredible value for money. An impressive array of salads, sauces, meats, puddings and themed meals such as Asian night, Arabian night and Canarian night were on offer in buffet style and this suited us tremendously. Some rather delicious meals were to be had. The only improvements I can think of would be to introduce some better breakfast cereals and perhaps provide those on half-board with a drink for their evening meal. Other hotels I've been to even offer a bottle of wine and water with the evening meals. WIFI Free and good. Yay! FACILITIES The pool is kept clean and is in a lovely area. Although we're not a family that likes to sit around the pool all day, we did have a splash and it was good fun. We did notice when going to breakfast that nearly all the sun loungers had towels claiming them and found this amusing. Looks like you have to get up early to claim a lounger. The bar prices in the hotel are not good value for money. A small plastic cup of lager is 3.50 euros at time of writing. Fine if you pay a little extra for all inclusive and sit around the pool all day but for those of us who only visit the bar on occasions this isn't good value. You can get a larger, iced tankard of delicious ale on the promenade with beautiful sea views for 1.50 euros. The shop on site also charges over the odds which is a shame because we would've used it more if the prices were more competitive with local stores. Evening entertainment seems adequate but nothing that you would write home about. The parrot show was funny as the parrot got its numbers mixed up. Also, the entertainment didn't start until 21:30 which we thought was a bit late. LOCATION Near the beautiful, old town harbour. Certainly not on cardiac hill like a few reviewers insist on calling it but I can see how tiring it might be for older clientele to traverse each day, especially as there can be a lot of walking on your holiday along the promenade or other trails. Useful tip is to use the side gate next to the pool to travel to the harbour rather than the front entrance. This also takes you to a better valued supermarket and Marios Italian restaurant which is really nice. It's also more scenic. OVERALL THB Flora ticks a lot of the boxes for a budget family holiday and it has so much potential to offer a good deal more to it's customers. Renovating the rooms would be first on my list of priorities, followed by better insulation on the windows and air con in the rooms. Offering a little more hospitality to the customers to make them feel that little bit more welcome would also be a good move and certainly entice people to return each year. Finally, offering a drink for half-boarders in the restaurant for their evening meal would be a wonderful gesture. Other than that, thank you THB Flora for providing a great value base to explore the beautiful resort of Peurto del Carmen. It has been a pleasure.More
Excellent stay at THB Flora
We stayed from 9th April to 16th April and have to say we had an amazing time. Staff were all very helpful from arriving to leaving. We had one of the apartments with a poolside and sea view, absolutely lovely. A little noisy in the evening, but this is to be expected. Loved the theme nights in the restaurant. Cannot fault the food, great variety to suit all of our group. There is some negativity highlighted in some of the reviews which really surprises us. THB Flora is great, the kids loved it, the adults loved it and we cannot wait to go back. Well done to one and all at THB Flora.More
Had a lovely time at the flora pool nice and clean all inclusive food and drinks always high quality and there was different theme nights for food e.g. Asian Spanish French. Free bus to beach was good but can get full. There were a few negatives although the splash park was fun for children the floor was coming away and could be dangerous. The splash park could be open more often. The entertainment team were amazing and always smiling even working long days with only 1 day off a week but the entertainment on a evening at 9:30 was the worst I have ever seen in a all inclusive hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy cleaners did a great job although leaflet given when check in says cleaners don't come Wednesday and Friday but this is actually Monday and Friday. All in all we enjoyed our holiday and would return if got a cheap deal.More
