Amazing & Returning this July
I am writing on behalf of my mum- my mum , dad (40) and little brother (12 )stayed in the Cinco Plaza for 2 weeks in July. They couldn't praise it enough. Accommodation - The rooms were cleaned every day with the extremely friendly maids. They had an excellent view from there room (have asked for same room number from travel agent) The pool area was the main attraction as it was massive and very clean . My little brother who is 12 really enjoyed the water polo!! The entertainments girl was great , especially with the kids. Location- you walk down a very small hill and you are at the beach. Then whatever way you turn you are greeted with the many restaurants, shops and bars. There is a big supermarket outside the door is which reasonably priced. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and where there whenever you needed them. I have rated this hotel 5 stars for everything as it is a perfect stay especially for family's. And we cannot wait to return!! ( if anyone is looking for trips I recommend - Rancho Texas - absolutely amazing ) See you in July!!More
Great place to stay for families
Stayed in this hotel in August 2014. (Excuse the delay in this review). It was our 1st time away in 4yrs and I was a bit apprehensive. We have been to Lanzarote before but had never stayed here. From the night we arrived to the day we left it was a pleasure. The apartment was lovely, cleaned very regularly & got clean linen/towels every 2-3 days. The kids had a great time, they did attend the Kids Club and said the staff were lovely. My son had to come home early one day as he had a reaction to the sun cream I'd used on him but the Thomson kids club staff brought him up chocolates that they had made after he'd left(which I thought was very nice of them & he was delighted!!!) I could not fault this hotel & I have already booked for this August coming. Can't wait to go back & the kids are delighted because they know the area now & I'll feel more relaxed knowing that they'll be okay. Thank you to all who made our holiday & can't wait until August.More
great family orientated holiday
me, my partner and 4 year old stayed at cinco plazas for a week last year in june. we really had a great time thanks in big majority to all the staff who worked non stop to make us feel welcome, we had tears on our eyes on our last day. ill do my best to cover all the points. apartment- very clean, spacious, the beds were ok although it could have done with a new sofa bed a bit worn out, the kitchen had everything you might need to cook a meal on those days you dont feel like going out for dinner, tv with at least 2 english channels, good sized bathroom, towels changed twice while we were there. we stayed opposite of the restaurant/bar, no noise complaints. restaurant/bar- food was good, very large portions at a very accessible price, drinks served until midnight, this was also where all the evening entertainment happened, very good shows that tried to involve the audience so that every one had a good time, also kids disco almost every evening. kids club- the staff at the kids club really made this holiday special for my little one, 2 sessions a day a couple of hours each session, this was ideal for us as couple as it gave us the chance to spend some time alone. location- 10m walk to the beach downhill, lots of restaurants and pubs, little markets, theres a cheap supermarket 2 m from the complex which was a lifesaver as we went on a budget. if i have any advice is if you have kids make sure they wear closed shoes on the beach, at least until you get closer to the sea, my little one had crocs on and because the sand kept getting inside and was so hot she ended up with blisters on her feet. also the sand is very black and thin and gets absolutelly everywhere (3 days latter we were still getting sand out of our scalps not to mention the clothes- ruined) this was a put off for us we only went down to the beach once. swimming pool/activities- large sized pool, very clean, daily games and activities by the pool everyday. there is also a kids pool with a sun roof. excursions- if you stay in this area check out Rancho texas park, this park was the highlight of our holidays, its like a zoo but way cooler we all had a lot of fun as a fAmilly. we also went on a pirate glassbottom boat excursion, there was drinks and food to be had aboard, canoes, snorkelling and the kids made the brave adults jump the plank. budget- as a family of 3 we went on self catering basis for 7 nights, we bought breakfast and lunch at the supermarket and had dinner out every night, drinks, tickets to texas rancho, excursion on a glass bottom boat and bought presents to bring back. we took £900 with us and came back with change. all and all this was a fantastic holiday, the staff at cinco plazas are amazing and make your holiday special, lanzarote is a beautiful island defenitly worth visiting.More
nice place, disappointing attitude
it looks odd giving it 4 out of 5 but we felt a bit abandoned by the thomson staff and indeed the hotel reception staff. our holiday to another part of puerto del carmen was overbooked and we were shifted to this accommodation with a weeks notice. normally we wouldnt have bothered about that because thomson make sure you are never worse of than the original booking. not this time. we were allocated these apartments and although the various reviews are really good, we didnt bank on being stuck in the apartments they let out as a last resort. if you are going there and they hand you the keys for apt 3203, hand them back, dont even go th the room bed down in the reception, anythings better than that apartment. its tidy enough, really spacious and well kitted out, unfortunately its seems to be seldom used. beds and bed linen damp and cold, we actually couldnt sleep in the bedroom and slept in the living room on a pull out couch. the room was located above the main food freezer room for the hotel, the freezer compressors and aircon ran all night. the staff came from the kitchens all night and for early morning breakfast. the banging of the doors and cupboards in the room was ridiculous. when i shouted at a member of staff to be a bit quieter I was told to be quiet he was working. we were also above the maids linen room, what a racket with them banging their trolleys in and out constantly and even then we rarely sen our maid. we asked her not to do our place on the second day and that was the last we seen of her until the day before we flew home. the view from our balcony was directly looking onto the side of the blank wall at the side of the reception with a marvelous view of the kitchen extraction units, along with the racket that comes with this, the view from the bedroom was an alley leading to the next blocks of apartments, complete with a 20ft rubbish skip outside our window. the balcony overlooked the day to day entrance to the main apartment blocks and the night time noise from the 2 sides was ridiculous. after the first night I went to the reception to try and get a room change, I had to work my way through and wait for around 50 people to check out, then asked about a room change. the woman was not at all happy when I asked about this, she then said the hotel was full and couldnt move me for 2 days. I asked about all the other guests moving out, why can't we get moved to on of these room? no they are for the scandanavian guests coming in, they are scandanavians moving out, and the rooms are for their holiday company, funny that, half the people leaving were from newcastle and liverpool, must have a big english population in sweden then? the 2 days stretched into the whole holiday, we hardly slept the whole time. the complex is actually very nice, lots to do there and locally, cant fault that. the spinakker bar 50 metres away is a great pub like most of the other places. its a bit of a hike down a steep hill to the front, but that just burns of the breakfast calories. all in all its a nice place, just stay away from the rooms that run side on to the reception or it will ruin your trip. I may have asked for a room change when the woman at reception was a bit flustered at the check out desk but thats no excuse for being short and rude with someone that has a valid complaint. ps. the thomson rep was as useful as a chocolate watchMore
