On recent visit to Cinco Plaza, Puerto Del Carmen we where very disappointed at the lack of entertainment for Children and adults. There is an Animation team but it looks like all they wanted to do was organise water polo, darts and pool. What entertainment ther was for kids was 1 hr 2 or 3 times a week between 19.00 and 20.00. then we get (wait for it) the best show on the island The Bee Gee,s, OMG what a shambles, way out of tune, backing track attrotious, songs that the Bee Gee,s had writen but not sung, 1hr of squeeling, ( thought someone was squeezing his bits). This show was a recommended MUST from the Thomson Reps. Entertainment for adults was the same 2 nights a week. Needless to say we didn,t bother with the other night. TV in room is German, Spanish, French, Italian, Norwegian i think, Sky News thats it. so if you dont enjoy the music its pointless putting tv on as that is a waste of time, no English tv at all. Hotel rooms are clean but basic and cleaners 3 or 4 times a week. There is a deathly hush around 23.00 as everyone is either in bed or whispering behind closed doors. Becarefull of undercooked Burgers we had 2, as they are so thick they are not cooked in the middle, we complained and where offered another one but they are to thick. If you are disabled forget going here as it is half way up a hill so wheelchairs are out of the question it,s a 1 in 4 gradient. You go on holiday to have a good time and enjoy yourself, but this isn,t the place for enjoyment. Would not go back here as my wife is disabled and we like entertainment in a hotel.More
Fantastic place to stay
I would find it very hard to say anything negative about our stay here! We spent 2 weeks here in May and I was left amazed at how clean it all was! The staff were very welcoming, and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with terrace by the pool. The maids were so efficient and we seemed to have an endless supply of clean bedding and towels! There was plenty of space in the apartment for the 6 of us and enough plates and utensils at our disposal. There was even a complimentary bottle of water in the fridge when we arrived. Security were always visible in the evenings, just checking all was well and that made us feel so completely at ease. The whole complex looks bright and fresh, and the pools were cleaned every morning, in fact I don't ever really remember seeing any mess or rubbish anywhere! I did have a chuckle as the queue for the sunbeds started forming at about 8.45am, but on the whole, there was plenty of beds and plenty of room. Wifi was available at a fee of â¬18 for a week, and it was pretty reliable. You can also hire a safe for â¬15 a week with a â¬5 returnable deposit. The lifeguards deserve a mention because they were all really nice and had a great attitude towards all the children and parents alike. I can't comment on the food in the restaurant, as we never actually ate here during our stay. It's a short walk to the beach and there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. I can honestly say that our stay here was a pleasure, and better than we could have EVER anticipated! It is no surprise that people keep returning here year after year, and with any luck, we will be some of them.More

a break with a difference
the cinco plazas is a nice place to stay for everyone the staff are very friendly and helpful we had a problem with some ignorant people who did not give a second thought about the people around them they slammed every door and drawer not just once but a few times but the staff and reps sorted it out down the hill is the strip with plenty of places to eat for all tastes and the beach is good alsoMore

the hotel caters for both full/half board and self catering, we chose the self catering. the rooms and hotel are clean and and my overall impression is that the hotel is in need of some renovation, some of the furnishings are rather run down and need updating.there was no air conditioning in my room, not sure if that is the case throughout the hotel. the hotel is exclusively for thompsons, and the reps are really good and friendly. was disappointed that the hotel ddnt have free wifi in reception which in my experience as become a norm these days, however there were 4 screens available at a cost for those with pressing needs for internet access. the main strip of porto carmen is only a short walk away so teh hotel is ideallyt located. i would say the hotel is definatly a 2 star establishment in need of some renovation and you only get clean towelsevery three days which is not good in my opinion, but all in all its a pleasent enough experience and if your looking for a basic hotel close to the town then this is it.More
We stayed at the Cinco Plaza for a week at the beginning of May, we had a first floor apartment which was clean and tidy but as mentioned in previous reviews there was no aircon and we had two very hot days (40+ degs). We had a couple of lovely meals at Cafe de Ola well worth a visit (our anniversary was on May 7th and they couldn't do enough for us). Plenty of places to sit and enjoy a drink along the strip including the Hot Spot, the Sports bar and the Owl and Pussycat, for live music the America Indian bar, O'Reilly's and Tequilla offered something different. A great night out is the Market Hall Tavern for the drag queen night brilliant fun!!. A good day out is a visit to Fire Mountain fantastic scenery. You'll get great welcome at the local bar Spinnakers good food and drink with nice views out to sea. Overall a lovely place to stay, central to all amenities, plenty of things to do. Would recommend this hotel to families looking for good value for money. However we dont recommend it for older couples looking to relax around the pool as far to busy. Peuerto Del Carmen is fab resort. Give it a try.More
