You’ll find the Cinco Plazas Apartments on Lanzarote’s southern coast, tucked among tree-cloaked hills. There’s a six-kilometre-long Blue Flag beach around a ten-minute walk away, and the shops, restaurants and bars of Puerto del Carmen are even closer.
The complex has three swimming pools, which are set in roomy sun terraces. You’ll find a children’s paddling pool, too, and there are a couple of pool tables under striped canopies that are a big hit with teens. Smaller guests, meanwhile, get to join in with the activities at the Thomson Kids’ Club.
Overlooking the whole scene are the apartments, which are housed in low-level, whitewashed buildings. Inside, cream walls and royal blue soft-furnishings create a traditional feel. Large balconies come as standard, and, each apartment has a kitchenette complete with all the essentials, plus extras like a microwave and a coffee-maker.

We have just come back from a week's holiday and had such a good time. We had originally booked a studio and I had emailed Cinco Plazas to ask if we could have a top apartment with a nice view. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a one bedroom. This was a top apartment and had a limited view of the sea and mountains. This apartment was 2243 and unlike a previous reviewer we were not woken with the noise of bins early in the morning. The bins could be seen from the bedroom window but not from the balcony. We never heard staff making a noise either in apartment below. Yes there is a slight hill to and from beach and main shops, but we are 63 and 61 and it was no problem as we were up and down it twice a day. Breakfasts are 2 Euros upwards in bars and cafes. Try Universo for evening meal. Lovely steak. Turn right at bottom of hill and cross over one road. Next door is American Indian Cafe which is good for a drink after as they have a very good group playing. Cinco Plazas is a nice clean and friendly place and we would certainly go back.More

We were self catering and did not use the complexes restaraunt. Ideally situated within a short walk to the beach, shops and restaraunts (about 5 mins down a gentle slope). Our room was behind one of the swimming pools which was great as it was peaceful. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room whilst basic had all we needed (apart from air con !). Next door to the complex was a hyper dino supermarket which was open until late, around 10pm. The complex own supermarket was decent enough and sold fresh croissants etc every morning. I will definately use these apartments againMore

Stayed here for two weeks with my boyfriend and his family. Apartments and pool area are always kept clean and tidy and there always seemed to be a life guard on duty. Perfect if you want a basic place to stay and plan on going out and eating out a lot! The only faults I can think of is the amount of cockroaches in the apartments and around the hotel, it wasn't nice!More

Here we are again in PDC
These apartments are on two levels and are a good size with a large balcony and separated into three blocks, most apartments overlook the pool The studios look out onto the road which isn't too busy most of the time. The apartments are quite old now, but they have kept them very clean and updated them regularly. The one bedroom apartments have modern equipment including kettle, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. The TV is not unfortunately, the only English channel we got was CNN news but otherwise you have to purchase a remote control and then there is a larger selection. They seem to be emptying the bins regularly and even have re-cycling facilities, again emptied regularly. Maids come every couple of days to change towels etc. There is no air-con and the weather was hotter than expected so did miss that. We were outnumbered by Germans, Swedes, Danes and Fins, who like to holiday here at this time of the year. They were pleasant and we had no trouble with them or getting sunbeds. There seemed a lot of pre-school children but again they were a delight to watch playing in the pool but a lot attended the Thomsons childrens clubs which seemed very good. Probably very busy for this reason in the summer months. Good location for all the pubs and restaurants. A short walk downhill brings you to the main street and then its a good choice either left or right. Enjoyed food in Friends Bar as usual and also The Peking Duck (both to the left at the bottom of the hill). Good chinese food (including free bottle of wine) and free WI-fi. They charge 9euros per week at the apartments. The weather makes this resort a good option. The apartments here in PDC are always basic by some standards but then we only really sleep in them as by the pool most of the day and out in the evening.More
we have just returned from our stay at the cinco plazas (7th - 14th November 2013) and we shall never stay there again. I'll start with the good points.... apartments and pool areas kept clean and lifeguards on duty at all 3 pools. reception staff spoke good English and were friendly and helpful. we were really disappointed with the location of our apartment, it was basically at the ar.se end of no where!! (room 2243) it was hidden away in the furthest corner of the complex and was situated right next to a recycle area on the street outside, these recycle bins were emptied at 5:40am most mornings and was extremely noisy as you would expect from a bin wagon emptying lots of glass into it's rear and the apartment underneath us was used as a storing area for the maids/handymen and they weren't quiet when they were using it very early in the morning. Also this complex advertises 3 heated pools between November and march, we tried the pool closest to our apartment and it was freezing so i enquired at reception and he explained the other 2 pools were heated but the 1 we were at the heater was broken so we tried another pool and it was ever so slightly warmer but no where near what i would class as heated so we didn't even bother with the third. The complex is at the top of quite a hill, i'm an able bodied 32 year old and still found it a chore to hike up this hill on a daily basis so if your older or disabled then stay well clear. the shower in the apartment was pathetic, no pressure behind it at all. The resort was fantastic though and would definitely return, best bar for me was a quality little Geordie bar called "Spenders" which was just down the hill from cinco plazas, it's owned by a bloke called Geordie John originally from Northumberland near Newcastle upon tyne and it has a very friendly welcoming atmosphere and the best barman on the island called Russell.More
