The Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is well set up for couples and families, with a great pool scene and a location that’s close to the beach and marina.
When it comes to location, the Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is hard to beat. There’s a sandy beach 2 minutes’ walk away and the shops and yachts at Rubicon marina take just over 5 minutes to reach on foot. You can also walk along the prom to the town centre – it’ll take about 10 minutes. At the hotel itself, the pool scene definitely deserves a mention. There are 2 big pools – one’s criss-crossed by little bridges, while the other’s next to a pair of children’s pools. There’s also an al fresco bar serving salads, sandwiches and snacks. Inside, there’s a buffet restaurant with local and international dishes, and a wellness centre with a pool, hot tub and sauna. As for keeping busy, there’s a list of activities that includes archery and boules, a 9-hole pitch and putt course, and a gym. After dark, meanwhile, you’ve got live entertainment and a nightclub.

This was the first all inclusive holiday my wife & I have experienced without our children and on the whole was a very good experience.
We booked a Deluxe Room [ on the basis of the view and room facilities] and were pleasantly surprised after arriving that the hotel treats "Deluxe" guests to additional amenities such as a separate check in desk, sun bathing area, dining room for breakfast and dinner and a VIP room air conditioned with iPads, TV, snacks/drinks, newspapers etc.
Our "all inclusive package" included virtually all drinks, most brands and so long as you had the correct wristband, all "free".
The main pool was a very warmly heated salt water pool, and a small bubbly [freezing cold it seemed] dip pool next to it. Would recommend cheap sunglasses to swim with as the glare off the water was high. The sun beds were regularly monitored by the life guard and if left unattended for a period of time would incur a sticker notice giving some 45 minutes to reoccupy - in order to stop sun bed hoggers.
The rooms were clean and we had a full size fridge stocked with a mini bar of soda drink, still & fizzy water, cola and a couple of bottles of beer - plus a bag of nuts and crisps. This was restocked every 2 days. Safe in the wardrobe. air con with controls. Large TV. WC was separate to the bathroom. our room was number 1129 overlooking the pool area and sea harbour [Rubicon Marina]
Staff were generally very helpful, always busy cleaning etc and most spoke English. I'd say guests were 50% Spanish, and say 25% UK and 25% German/Dutch etc.
Location was good and backed onto the coast with a sandy beach about a 3 minute walk away.
Our only disappointment was the evening entertainment. It started at about 10:30 pm and finished around 11:30. It ranged from okay/good acts such as African gymnastic type act, a Chinese tumbling act, and solo pianist and violin player to a rather poor [ for our taste at least] saxophone player and the hotel activities team's very poor rendition of Sister Act in what appeared to be Nun's habits made out of bin bags who were very amateurish to say the least. Fortunately we did not go there for the entertainment!
However apart from the last negative remarks, we really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it as a place for good food, drink, service and sea location and would be happy to go there again.More

Amazing hotel and amazing location! The only thing I can fault was the entertainment of a night time that was really poor. But overall I couldn't fault a thing! The staff were lovely, reasonable prices. The rooms were basic but that was all we needed, the maids cleaned everyday and we had new towels everyday which was good because some hotels they make you use the same towel for a few days.
I was worried about reading previous reviews about deluxe and being made to feel different, we didn't at all, we preferred the standard sunbeds just because we had sun on us all day, our room and view was perfect! I would advise you ask for a pool room view as thats where all the atmosphere is! The pool activities where really funny, but became very repetitive!
Me and my boyfriend had breakast at the hotel each morning and I couldn't fault it a lot of variety for everyone. I would definitely recommend eating at Asia Playa Blanca which is chinese in the town which is about 5/10 mins away - amazing food and very cheap! There is a Marina 5 mins away which is lovely of a night time so would recommend that too!
We will be returning to this place!!More

Will be back!
Just back from a stay in the Hesperia and was very impressed with it. The staff were all very friendly and very efficient. There was a choice of 6 swimming pools, all kept spotless. There was entertainment at all times of the day. The parrots, fish and turtles were a great hit here! The food was fab and there was always great choice. The rooms were spacious. The only downfalls and they would only be small things and definitely wouldn't stop me returning are that it's a pity there wasn't a fridge in the rooms, the locks on the rooms could be more secure as we have a 17 month old who could open the door even with it locked and also the prices at the pool side bars were crazy More

A solid intro to Lanzarote
We were quietly pleased with our 'bargain' holiday & found it good value for money.
Rooms are clean & practical but hotel is HUGE!
Pool/ sunbathing area is well kept & the 'AquaGym' is hilarious.
Major let down is the bar/restaurant. No wine list, all the 'by glass' wines are corked & nasty. Cocktail menu is restricted & over priced.
Breakfast buffet is very 2*. Definitely geared to europeans & not British. Cereals are bizzare & closest to full English is sausage & egg. We ate first night in restaurant & was very poor hodge-podge buffet.
Minor incident where house keeping took our snacks as a mistaken 'tip'.
Would NOT go Delux/all inclusive as Delux areas are not patrolled & anyone can enter. Food would spoil all inclusive.
Finally the indoor pool staff need to learn some English/German, they advertise spa treatments, trying to book one was like Fawlty Towers, & how good they are we will never know!!!More
Remember this is Spain
My wife and I have stayed here before and will be returning again for another stay in November. I am noticing more and more reviews where people from the UK complain about not being treated the same as Spanish and German tourists. I can't help but wonder if people from Spain and Germany would be specially catered to in the UK?? Part of the reason for going to a foreign country is to experience new things. One reviewer even complained about the lack of HP Sauce at breakfast!! No one should expect things to be just like at home when visiting another country, especially where English is not the main language spoken and understood. I realize that many, many people from the UK flock to Spain for sunny beach holidays and cheaper booze. The fact remains that Spain is not a part of the UK, nor will it ever be. Another frequent complaint seems to be about inflatables not being allowed in the hotel's pool. Inflatables do not belong in a public pool. Others have the right to use and enjoy the pool without having to be pushed out and hit with balls. The beach is the only proper place for them. The hotel's food is adequate to good and the nightly entertainment is as good as any we have found at other Playa Blanca hotels. Finally, people who are not happy that being from the UK does not qualify them for special treatment and consideration should instead maybe go on holiday to Blackpool??More
