Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada

Loading

When it comes to location, the Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is hard to beat. There’s a sandy beach 2 minutes’ walk away and the shops and yachts at Rubicon marina take just over 5 minutes to reach on foot. You can also walk along the prom to the town centre – it’ll take about 10 minutes. At the hotel itself, the pool scene definitely deserves a mention. There are 2 big pools – one’s criss-crossed by little bridges, while the other’s next to a pair of children’s pools. There’s also an al fresco bar serving salads, sandwiches and snacks. Inside, there’s a buffet restaurant with local and international dishes, and a wellness centre with a pool, hot tub and sauna. As for keeping busy, there’s a list of activities that includes archery and boules, a 9-hole pitch and putt course, and a gym. After dark, meanwhile, you’ve got live entertainment and a nightclub.

Very quiet but nice

We had two weeks in this hotel the first two weeks in April and cannot praise the staff enough. Okay the room we were in was tired but they are upgrading so don't let that stop you going. It's location is perfect. The entertainment could have been a bit better as I said quite quiet but there are live music bars all around. Could not fault the food, a great choiceMore

Two tier system

This should be a very good hotel. However, the hotel owners are in the process of upgrading the rooms. Upgraded rooms are featured as Deluxe and are freshly decorated and include fridges etc - what is also included in the Deluxe option is exclusive use of the most sheltered part of the pool area where 'deluxe' sunbeds are spaciously arranged. The poor folk on standard options are squashed together like sardines on sunbeds in the windy areas!! The weekly barbeque is only for Deluxe guests and All Inclusive guest are turned away! This is a most peculiar arrangement - if people want deluxe accommodation, maybe they should stay in a deluxe hotel. The two tier system goes against the egalitarian philosophy one expects in hotels - it was more like being on the QE2 liner than an average holiday hotel by the sea! So, if you don't mind being treated like a second class citizen, this is the hotel for you!! Incidentally. I expect a fridge in my room in a standard 4* hotel and I don't expect mould on the bathroom walls - not very healthy. A shame as Internet access was good, view was good, pools were very good and staff were lovely.More

Not the best...but alright

Probably scraping a 4*...? Very little information given on arrival about what you are entitled to with all inclusive and when and where you can eat. Buffet restaurant was ok and drinks entitlement in terms of branded spirits was good. Hotel was very quiet... Lacking atmosphere despite being full. Big queue at peak meal times. Entertainment stopped early and bar was deserted by 11pm. The Staff's English wasn't great...though this is an observation not a criticism. Location is ok but resort is quiet. In summary... No glitz here but it was clean.More

Shiraz555,

Fantastic Hotel, great staff, heated pool, lovely weather, quiet, relaxing

As a Travel Agent I have been forunate to have travelled all over the world and stayed in basic beach huts to 5 Star Hotels. First of all I don't understand the low rating on Tripadvisor especially when compared to somewhere like The Iberostar?? I booked the Hesperia Playa Dorada direct with Yolanda in reservations at short notice and the whole procedure was very professional, I am so glad that I chose this hotel. Everything from reservations to the welcoming Check in, the varied breakfast and value for money evening meal were perfect for me travelling on my own. The location was also perfect for the beach, supermarket and going out for lunch or in the evening for dinner or a drink. I paid the supplement for the Deluxe Room and it was worth it. The room was spacious as was the balcony with the fantastic view. People pay a supplement for extra comfort when travelling so it was worth paying the minimal supplement for the upgrade for a room and I would do it again. I never felt segregated, which people have complained about, and I could eat in any restaurant, use any area of the pool and spoke to the many friendly guests who have stayed here before and returned. I was very impressed as I didn't know what to expect being younger and on my own. I had a great relaxing break I only wish it could have been longer. My only complaint would have been if I was allocated a room overlooking the car park as the balcony rooms have no real privacy. Thanks to everyone at the Hesperia Playa Dorado and I hope the Management appreciate the staff that they employ. I look forward to my next visit with friends or family next time.More
