Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada

The Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is well set up for couples and families, with a great pool scene and a location that’s close to the beach and marina.

When it comes to location, the Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is hard to beat. There’s a sandy beach 2 minutes’ walk away and the shops and yachts at Rubicon marina take just over 5 minutes to reach on foot. You can also walk along the prom to the town centre – it’ll take about 10 minutes. At the hotel itself, the pool scene definitely deserves a mention. There are 2 big pools – one’s criss-crossed by little bridges, while the other’s next to a pair of children’s pools. There’s also an al fresco bar serving salads, sandwiches and snacks. Inside, there’s a buffet restaurant with local and international dishes, and a wellness centre with a pool, hot tub and sauna. As for keeping busy, there’s a list of activities that includes archery and boules, a 9-hole pitch and putt course, and a gym. After dark, meanwhile, you’ve got live entertainment and a nightclub.

Delux services and facility

From the very first moment of arriving to the reception to check in reseptionists invited us for a glass of champagne and dinner to be delivered to the room as we arrived late enough. Wellness facility with a 25 m pool, 2 jakuzzi bath, sauna and a gym was a perfect combination with outdoor facility to tan, go for a walk or enjoy the beach ( 50 m from the Hotel) The food was outstanding. All employees in this Hotel are doing a 10 out of 10 job. Great!More

Winter break

Excellent position. Lovely hotel, but food was not anything special. More staff were needed at times eg. The main bar was very slow at times. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we would recommend the hotel to friends. More

Location Good but that's it.

Stayed here for a week from 6th December. Whilst weather was fine during the day in the evening it did get quite chilly, but in December that's hardly surprising unfortunately the Hotel did not seem to recognise this simplicity and the rooms did not have heating. Food at breakfast was ok if you gave it a blast in the microwave otherwise luke warm. Food and lunch and evening buffets was poor and it was very difficult to find something that you really wanted to eat and if you did it was not hot. Coffee good from machine though in Deluxe dining area. TV was a joke only UK channels were 24 hour news ones, plenty for the locals, Germans and French though but on plus side wifi is free so download the FilmonTV app and away you go with numerous live UK TV streams and if you have a mini to standard HDMI lead you can plug it in the tv as well. Bed was good and room cleaning was excellent. Segregation of punters in pool area was totally unnecessary like something from the era of Franco, I'm sure it's a coincidence that the pool towels were brown. Good indoor pool and reasonable on site parking. Come on Hesperia go and look at the Cala Bona Hotel in Mallorca and see how it can be done.More

Good value for money hotel.

To put my review in context this 10 day holiday in Lanzarote was booked as via Internet based company On the Beach, so we were looking for a competitive price for a superior sea view room with half board facilities. Although we didn't appreciate this at the time of booking, a superior sea view room at the Hesperia Playa Dorada, is classed as their 'de luxe' facility. This entitles you to a very well appointed room, plus exclusive areas around the pools and a choice of dining room. With only a couple of very minor niggles, this turned out to be a very good value for money holiday indeed. The room overlooked the gardens and pool complex with an uninhibited view of the sea looking south to Fuerteventura. There was a decent sized balcony, and a separate bathroom and toilet. The room also was equipped with a good sized TV, though it wasn't much used, and a good fridge which was! We found dining in the evening in the Volcan restaurant was very pleasant. The choice and quality of food was varied and it was a very nice option to have meat, fish, pasta even chinese food cooked individually to order. We used the much larger, and busier, restaurant for breakfast as there seemed to be a little more choice, and it was nice to sit outside on the terrace with a coffee afterwards before getting on with the day. The hotel is situated right on the sea front half way between the town/harbour of Playa Blanca one way and the Rubicon marina/village the other. The sea front has a very easy pedestrian walkway connecting the two, and well beyond in either direction. There is a 'wellness' centre with indoor pool, gym, saunas etc. Also, next to the hotel is a neat pitch and putt golf facility. One of the many things that impressed us about the hotel was the large number of guests with disabilities being able to get around and enjoy their holiday to the full. It would seem that the hotel has thought through accessibility very well and this is evident in the number of guests with wheelchairs and with other disabilities. The staff were always helpful in all departments and the hotel was well maintained and very clean and well cared for. The staff went to some trouble with the Christmas decorations and the official 'switch on'. The minor niggles? Well they almost come under the nitpicking heading really. The bed was a bit too firm and took a while to get used to, and charging for the hire of a kettle for us English to have a cup of tea, seemed not to go very well with the 'de luxe' concept. Also, the entertainment was fairly average, but Playa Blanca is probably a long way from the main entertainment circuit. BUT .... this was a very good value for money holiday and will be on the 'return to' list, especially at this time of year. (Early December)More

Trip to the sunshine

Stayed here last year same time, enjoyed hotel we decided to return. You can now use the spa facilities for free, pool is lovely, but not that impressed with the sauna or steam room. Food is lovley especially in the Vulcan restaurant, plenty of choice for everyone's pallet. The only down side is they advertise wifi, unfortunately it drops out a lot as signal is not very strong. We had a lovely stay and were very lucky weather as lanzarote has recently been battered by stormy weather.More
