Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada

The Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is well set up for couples and families, with a great pool scene and a location that’s close to the beach and marina.

When it comes to location, the Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is hard to beat. There’s a sandy beach 2 minutes’ walk away and the shops and yachts at Rubicon marina take just over 5 minutes to reach on foot. You can also walk along the prom to the town centre – it’ll take about 10 minutes. At the hotel itself, the pool scene definitely deserves a mention. There are two big pools – one’s criss-crossed by little bridges, while the other’s next to a pair of children’s pools. There’s also an al fresco bar serving salads, sandwiches and snacks. Inside, there’s a buffet restaurant with local and international dishes, and a wellness centre with a pool, hot tub and sauna. As for keeping busy, there’s a list of activities that includes archery and boules, a 9-hole pitch and putt course, and a gym. After dark, meanwhile, you’ve got live entertainment and a nightclub.

Blissful relaxing break.

We stayed at this fabulous hotel from 29th March for eleven nights in a standard room overlooking the pool, we were all inclusive and had a lovely time. We have visited a range of Canarian 4star hotels over many years so have learnt that comparisons can be destructive, despite this we studied the reviews prior to departure but arrived with an open mind. It’s a travesty that so many negatives are reported.... the reality was indeed very different. We always received a reciprocal friendly greeting by all staff (some guests should perhaps try being polite) who clearly valued our custom. We had a couple of minor hiccups (safe code and blown light bulbs) which were sorted out within minutes. Quite rightly the superior guests received a privileged service, we considered paying the supplement but decided to use our extra money for duty free treats so no point reflecting on the difference in holiday experience like many reviewers have! Obviously it would be unrealistic to expect that choices in the hotel restaurant fit our preference but I can honestly say that we enjoyed the food, in stereotypical British style we didn't mind queuing for the show cooking as it meant fresh and hot...from the reviews some people clearly see this as a negative! If you are currently looking forward to your holiday at the Hesperia Playa Dorada, do so with optimism, we are confident that you will have a fabulous time…we look forward to our next visit.More

Great Hotel

Great Hotel location. Pool area excellent & leads directly to the sandy beach approx 100m away. Weather at end of March was poor but hotel made up for that disappointment. Worthwhile going deluxe. We stayed Bed & Breakfast and the food was very good. More

Mixed views

Good points - location, pool area and lovely sea views from our room. ( we were deluxe all inclusive) The bad point - the food! Other than breakfast which was good the meals were bland and unappetising . It seemed like the same old dishes day after day . Desserts were particularly disappointing - more or less the same ice cream, mousse, tiny sponge squares and rice pudding every lunchtime and every dinnertime. In general the staff were helpful and friendly. If we ever stayed again, which is doubtful, we would book bed and breakfast and definitely not all inclusiveMore

Perfect location

We have today returned from this hotel,we had a De luxe sea view room.I have to say we were very happy with our break. There are a couple of things I would like to mention. The evening entertainment was very poor, also we chose to eat out three evenings and as on HB asked to swap for lunch on these day.Apparently this can only be done on one day!!!!!!! I would recommend this hotel as I think the evening entertainment for children and adults may improve during High season. The hotel is situated between two harbours with a lovely promanarde along the sea front with a small really lovely beach. Oh and finally the De Luxe lounge is open all day however drinks fridges are closed at noon. This is silly when it's after noon when people would want to use it for a drink. We stayed priviledge at H10 and the drinks were available all day.More
