NOT UP TO PAR - seen better cheap deals
We booked the Villa Reina, advertised as 4 star accommodation with 4 bedrooms over 2 floors. We got our paperwork via email and found no car hire details were included. We called into our local Thomson shop who were just as baffled as us; all villas with private pool come with car hire we were told. Flew from Doncaster airport and arrived at Lanzarote, met by jackie the Thomson rep who was just as baffled about our lack of car hire. We had fortunately booked a car before leaving just in case so we at least had means of getting to the resort. THEN THE BAD NEWS, The villa was unavailable due to the last occupants damaging the place so we were DOWN GRADED to a nearby 3 bed villa and sent on our way. Arrived at VILLA FAYNA and found the key in a very dark corner of the door(take a torch or park your car pointing a the door) Upon entering the villa we were hit immediately by the chill, we went in jan 2015 and there is only one small heater which is portable and not up to much. We ended up having to drag it from room to room when we went to bed as it was so chilly. If all rooms are occupied then someone is going to stay cold and uncomfortable during the night. Next morning we tried to make a cup of tea only to find the kettle had a life of its own; we resorted to boiling water on the hob but don't turn on too many rings or you'll trip the electric meter. Handy at night when you can't see a bleeding thing. The water heater is only 50 litres so if your washing up then want a shower, you've got about 2 minutes before the water goes cold. Not enough water to go round so if there is more than one wants a shower, tough! its cold showers all round or stay smelly. Kitchen is billed as modern and well equipped. Not in my world it wasn't. Kettle that never boiled, ant nest in the cutlery draw, one cutting knife only, dishwasher was stuffed with previous occupants dishes, no soap powder for the washing machine, no tablets for the dishwasher. No baking trays to cook in the oven but there was a micro wave so we can't grumble about it not being that modern. (PUN). Pool was cleaned once but remained dirty so we never used it, if I wanted to clean it I couldn't because the net was only a foot long; seriously! The whole villa was dated and in need of serious TLC. Doors that needed varnishing and tiles in the bathroom with nice black mould in the grout. The place was cold in an evening (January) and only one very small electric heater was provided for the entire place. We had to move it from one room to another just to stay warm. The villa is situated between two privately owned villas, one of the neighbour let her dog out each morning at about 5.30 presumably before she left for work, the dog would spend the next hour barking to be let back in and if that wasn't enough, it would spend the day howling at being left alone. The towels in the bathrooms were old and stiff to the touch. They looked like they had been bought from the cheap shop. The maid did change them once during the week but strangely did not change the bed linen. All in all not a nice place to stay if you're expecting 4 star accommodation. Cheap and cheerful maybe but when you pay premium prices, you expect a better standard that this villa provides. BOOK ELSEWHERE is my advice and if you want to see my video on the villa check out you tube http://youtu.be/vdJA5-uqMTEMore

Really felt like I needed to write a review as there aren't many for this villa and the last one was january 2014. I use trip advisor all the time for every holiday I take but I have to let you all know past reviews are so wrong. I have O.C.D and reading that the villa was filthy and not well equipt, I was concerned. No need at all it was very clean and if having a working washing machine and dish washer and all the cooking utensils and crockery you need is not well equipt for a foreign villa well im guessing those type of people should stay at home. We stayed in Casa Ico a 2 bedroomed villa it was very spacious with a twin and double bedroom and alot of storage available in both rooms, infact all over the villa. It has a large bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and 2 sinks. A second toilet room with sink and mirror with plug sockets. The kitchen which opens to the garden/ pool area is also very big with a seperate small utility room with a free safe. Front room and dinning room has a seperate set of patio doors, the tv has alot to be desired but in the sun is where you should be not cooped up inside watching tv, no english channels but there is a working dvd player. Pool is very clean also the garden. A gardener pops in from time to time but only if its convenient for you. Towels are changed twice a week and there are plenty for everyone. The area was very quiet but last week in october is a quieter time. Down a twisty path across the road are both bars and restaurants. These are about 3 mins walk and abit further down the road is a small shopping centre and out the other side are more restaurants and bars these lead to the beach. Please take this review as gospel and if you are looking for a quiet villa to spend with the family (our 2 children aged 11 and 15) then this is perfect. One downside and there is only one, its the so called free car hire well its not. We collected our cases found the thompson rep (Jackie very nice and helpful) she pointed us in the direction of europcar the car which is part of the package is about the size of a punto. 2 kids 2 adults and 3 large cases would have been Impossible but we thought what the hell we'd squeeze In as an upgrade would have cost us 9 euro's a day, which we declined, now heres the best bit you really need to have extra weaver insurance as any damage I.e a scratch, chip, small dint or damage to tyres would cost about 335 euros which we were informed at the desk. We paid the extra weaver and it cost us 130 euros so not free at all but did get upgraded to a bigger car for free. You can decline the car hire and go on a airport transfer which would have been alot cheaper. The villa is about 15mins from airport in a taxi, it took us 2hours the road signs In Lanzarote are none existant and 1 wrong turn was all it took. I drive abroad everywhere and I will never drive there again. Well I hope this review has been helpful if slightly long winded. Give it a go... More
Not Well Monitored
We arrived in the dark & the sighting of the key code safe made it impossible to see the numbers,so a flashlight is essential. The Villa, pool, pool area & Gardens are spacious, clean and well maintained. There are 6 sunbeds but only 2 mattresses.Pool too cold for swimming. We only used the BBQ for cooking..The griddle was filthy and broken beyond use (replaced on request by an old rusty but just serviceable one). In the kitchen there were 3 frying pans,2 quite disgusting and needed throwing out and the oven pan needed a good clean. No chopping board or small knife (supplied by request after a few days).I pretty useless bread knife. Only one English Speaking News Channel Available...DVD installed and NOT VHS as advertised by Thomson. In our opinion Thomsons are not monitoring provisions of utensils etc.,very well.More
Certainly not a 4 star, more like a 2 star
Villa Fayna. Arrived at airport. We were not informed by any email, phone call or letter what to do from there. We declined the hire car and would make our way to the villa by taxi. Thomson rep unhelpful as she did not direct us to the Thomson desk to collect the welcome pack. Took taxi to villa. Couldn't get in. Had to phone rep to get number for key box. Taxi driver very helpful. PROS. Villa very nice, spacious and clean. Safe, washing machine and dishwasher OK. CONS : Sky box broken, no CD player or any form of audio equipment. BBQ unusable and beyond redemption, pool not cleaned for new arrivals, (us), furniture very dated and rickety, no lamps, no bins in bedrooms, shower in 2nd bathroom inadequate with just a trickle of water. Kitchen utensils and cookware very sparse. All toilet seats wrong shape for British bums. We were promised a new BBQ but none appeared. Would certainly not class this as 4 star.More

Me and my fiance stayed in casa cathaysa, it was huge and sleeps 8 people, clean well equipped with everything you need. One grumble the tv has only 2 british channels of which are news channels and the rest was german etc, and the directions from the airport to the villa are hopeless! in good location of pubs restaurants beach etc. You will get hassled by the looky lookies trying to sell the same old tat lol.More
