The location could be a little closer to the beach but it is a building complex so cannot be lifted and moved but overall the location is very good compared to other places I have stayed. First visit to a BlueBay and I am truly amazed at the quality of the place in particular. 20 minutes from the airport so quick transfers made the week go so much smoother than any of my previous holiday destinations. Definitely worth a visit.More
Ignore the bad reviews!!
Just returned from the blue bay Lanzarote with my boyfriend. We both loved it! It is your average 3 star but it's great. Food was brilliant considering it is only a 3 star and I've also been to 4 stars which the food has been much worse in my opinion. Rooms were basic but nice and clean the staff were lovely . We only stayed for 4 nights but I wish we had done longer . Shops and restaurants about a 15 minute walk away. Do not let bad and negative reviews put you off this is a brilliant hotel for what it is . Can't wait to return. Just a little tip if you love Italian food visit the ceasar we both had the most amazing meal there!! And there's a marker Wednesdays and Fridays :) More
Not bad but not great
Recently returned from The Blue Bay Hotel. We had a nice weeks break and overall the hotel was good value for money but we probably wouldn't return. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.. Especially the restaurant staff. Unlike other reviews, we found we least enjoyed the breakfast in terms of the meal of the day although it didn't spoil the holiday. The choice seemed more limited compared to other similar hotels for our tastes in terms of variety of eggs ( no omelettes or poached eggs) and the scrambled eggs were disgusting! The bacon was avoided after the first try too unless you were willing to risk losing a filling! We were pleased with the location of our room (A Block) which was on the top floor overlooking the pool. The room was basic but clean and the bed very comfortable. However, I found I was doing a lot of itching in bed at night and heard another guest mentioning the same thing and heard him mentioning bed bugs! Which was off Putting! The mattress seemed clean though. The problem as mentioned many times was the lack of comfortable sunbeds. Unless you were crafty and got up early and bagged yourself a blue sunbed....and stayed with it until 9am, you were destined to get your towel removed by the pool man and then that meant you had to endure sunbathing on rock hard plastic. One day we overslept and when we realised all the blue beds had gone, we went to the beach for the day as we couldn't stand the hardness of the sunbeds. Daytime entertainment was almost non existent except for the " question of the day" and we only realised there was a disco/theatre hidden away in the complex after day 5. We turned up for the karaoke night and was so uncomfortable in there as there was no air conditioning in there and it was absolutely sweltering! Basic cocktails are included in the all inclusive but an extra charge for the rum based ones. The one thing that was a problem was there was a group of lads who drunk themselves stupid during the day and followed through right on at night. In full view of everyone including children, they had a drunken play fight at the edge of the pool and one ended up smashing his head on the side of the pool as he jumped/fell in the deep end of the pool. There was blood pouring out of the side of his eye ( all over poolside) but he was so drunk he didn't realise. I can't believe that the hotel didn't seem to take action to limit the alcohol these lads were consuming as they were annoying a lot of guests and being very rowdy. There was another incident another day where they were jumping in the pool whilst holding on to their sunbeds so sun loungers ended up in the pool with them. Another gripe was the repetitive music blaring around the pool. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any music but they played the same CD on repeat and after a day, it grated. It seemed it grated with other guests too as people started bringing their own music and speakers to the pool which meant that you were treated to listening to three or four music systems blaring out which is annoying when you are trying to read or even think straight. The hotel location isn't perfect as it is a good 20 min walk to the centre of Costa Teguise. Unless you like sports bars, for a bit of nightlife this is a must and the square at Costa Teguise is very lively with plenty going on. So overall, despite the niggles, for what we paid, we did have an enjoyable week away. However we said next time we would rather pay a bit more and be in a four star.More
A very mixed week
Hotel in a good location, approx. 15 minutes to the centre of Costa Teguise (the Square) and 10 minutes to the paved promenade which is a lovely stroll in the evening. Apartments in serious need of TLC. The rooms are a decent size although the bathroom is very compact, the shower is good. Lounge/dining area/kitchen good size but needs updating. Has a kettle and a fridge. TV only has BBC World News unless you upgrade but the picture would send your eyes funny unless that improved as well. Bedroom had 2 comfortable single beds and a double wardrobe which very annoying as the sliding doors kept coming off runners (May need some WD40) Balcony was good size overlooking the pool and outside bar area. Dining Room was light and airy. We were shown to tables by the waiting staff, all of whom were very pleasant. Good selection of foods, not too repetitive and always something hot to eat. Didn't always have to have chips with everything. plenty of salad, fruit, bread and deserts. Most disappointed to find no Rose wine, just red and white (undrinkable) and Sangria which was tasteless. Cava was a bonus and beer was Amstel so most men seemed happy with that. There is also a Pool bar which was very popular serving hamburgers, hot dogs, toasties etc. open 10.30am to 5.30pm. Pool area washed every morning. The fiasco with towels on beds started around 7.30am but on some mornings they were taken off and placed on a wall unless you actually sat on them. There are 2 types of sun loungers. The blue canvas ones are so much more comfortable than the white plastic ones, so they all went first. There are two good sized pools with plenty of area around for the sun loungers. Wifi was expensive and not very good. Starting at 5 euros a day for 2MB going up to 40 euros for the week. Didn't bother but really missed WhatsApp. On the Thursday before we left there was black smoke rising from what we thought was the kitchen but it was down in the basement in the Spa area. One of the saunas caught fire and the smoke rose up to the Reception and above. Smoke alarms didn't go off initially and it was some time before we were asked to go to the front of the Hotel for safety where we were given a small bottle of water. At no time did the Management take control of proceedings by possibly using the loud speaker system. Couple of Fire Engines arrived and the Police but no one injured. The Pool Bar was also evacuated as a precaution but we were let back in after a couple of hours but the smell was very unpleasant. Our room was above the reception and although everything inside didn't smell we didn't to go out onto the balcony during the remainder of out visit. As we left nearly 3 days later you could still smell smoke in the Reception area, Bar & Dining room but it was much less. Our Jet2 Representative (Romina) was very good and did offer to find out if we could change rooms and we did all receive a letter from them asking if we were ok and they would be at the Hotel the following day if there were any problems. Its the first time we have travelled with Jet2 (from Birmingham) and impressed with the number of reps available at both airports, the coaches were spot on and at this Hotel there was an option to have your luggage taken away on your departure day and checked in by them at the airport. Would we go back - NO. The place could be so much better with a refurbishment. The staff were very good and the place is kept very clean and generally tidy. The Wifi was definitely annoying for us although that will change in June with new EU regulations.More
Been to worse !!!!!
We arrived late to be greeted by a lovely lady, quick check in...our room was on the 3rd floor, no problem but there was no lights on the stair wells, not very good as we were 2 females traveling. Room was nice kitchen lounge bathroom and bedroom.... Food was okay always something to eat, food served all day... 2nd day we went to reception to ask if we could have pillows, the reception lady with short blonde hair and glasses, answered "I have no idea " RUDE... but they did sort the lights out on the stairs My big gripe with this hotel is..why only have a few blue sunbeds? The white beds are so uncomfortable why not supply cushions? If you put your towels out before 9am they will be removed, Also there are no changing facilities if you have a late check out, you have to book to keep your room 3 days before you leave but they only allow a few .. I was told 4 .... On our last day there was a fire in the spa I commend the staff who handled the situation brilliantly Would we return to this hotel NOMore
