Nice hotel, great pool, good rooms, very poor entertainment.
Just back from Blue Bay, first impressions favourable, Reception well organised, allocated room and had decent first impression, however once we settled in found some problems, firstly there was a strong "drain smell", on looking into this we found that the shower plug was the cause and we had to cover it to stop the odour, next the air con would`nt turn on, this was due to control unit only worked when the selector was on warm not cold, who knows why, then the door frame was loose in the opening, there was an inch gap and it did`nt feel secure, after reporting it, it took 2 days to repair. The food was the usual all inclusive fare, decent breakfast`s, lunch ok nearly every day Veal was on the menu, together with Pork and Chicken, salads etc, we had problems with the griddled food, on 2 separate occasions the Chicken drumsticks and kebabs were inedible due to being raw in the middle, so every time Chicken was on we had to check it was cooked properly before eating it. Now the entertainment, if you want good entertainment Blue Bay is`nt for you, the entertainment room was always stifling, never any air con, the children`s entertainment team were`nt the greatest, the usual kids disco always late starting and as always the same songs to dance to, the adult entertainment was hit and miss, one night a singer was on, I think her name was Nula it was like watching a karaoke singer, no personality and she had a tablet on the microphone stand with all the lyrics on so a lot of people left after a couple of songs, in the 2 weeks we were there we had to leave the hotel to alleviate the boredom. Finally overall, nice rooms, Pool ok, sunbeds available as long as you sorted them by 7.30 at the latest and stayed with them till 9, the best feature by far was the staff, always smiling and helpful.More
Do not waste your money!
Myself and my partner travelled to Lanzarote and stayed in a hotel called Blue Bay Lanzarote, as stated above. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted with a rude, abrupt woman at reception who was checking us in. After demanding the booking number, I showed her my phone which had the First Choice app up with the booking reference number on. However, this was not enough as she exclaimed "NO, THE BOOKING NUMBER I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING". So, my partner found the email which stated we had booked the hotel in the name which we had already stated, with the booking reference that I had already shown her. It was only then after ten minutes of being spoken to like an absolute idiot and trying to retrieve the emails we had been sent with the information did she actually give us our all inclusive wrist bands and proceed to explain to us when the cleaners come round etc. She also, proceeded to tell us how lucky we were that we could check in and go to our room straight away otherwise, we would have had to wait until 3 o'clock. Unfortunately, our flights were early in the morning and we got to our hotel around 11:30/12 ish. We don't select what times we fly so we may have had to wait till 3 to go to our room and check in, which seems absolutely ridiculous after being up so early. We were given one key card which seems ridiculous because there was two of us, and it meant we couldn't leave a key card in to make sure that the air con remains on whilst we were out. After, settling into our room we noticed that the apartment that she had stated was cleaned for us, certainly wasn't. There was a leftover complimentary shower gel left on top of the shower. There were scuffs and marks all over the furniture, as well as the wood peeling off at the bottom. We had two single beds pushed together. As well as, a bathroom that stank of poo ALL THE TIME which we put down to the fact that either the sewage system is awful or the crack in the shower floor was to blame for letting the smell seep in. The day after, we returned from breakfast to find the cleaner had been and replaced our towels and make the beds (kind of). If you call making a bed, leaving the bed sheet as it was slept in and just straightening out the blanket on top and moving the pillows back. Not once was our beds stripped throughout our stay. Often we came back to immaculate beds, but when you pulled the top sheet back, the bed sheet was exactly how we left them in the morning. The floor was mopped once during our week stay, despite the fact that there was a woman hair all over the floor in our apartment which certainly did not match my hair colour. One night I used the cooker to make some dinner as the food at the hotel was sub standard and certainly not worth the six hundred odd pounds that we paid each. I had spilt some dust from a packet of noodles onto the hob, but with no dish cloths provided I couldn't clean it up myself. After finishing my dinner, I left the plates in the sink. The next day after returning from breakfast she had been again only to find that the dust was still left on the cooker TWO DAYS LATER and the sink was full of hot water with the plates in. As a result of this I used one of our towels to clean those plates and the work surfaces as there were hundreds of tiny bugs everywhere. Any tea or coffee that we had used, was not replaced at all. The sofa was dirty and stained, the floors were left with loads of hair on them, crumbs everywhere, the coffee table had a stain on it from a spilt drink, we left four empty bottles on the table to see if they would be cleaned up, again they were left there until I physically put them in the bin myself. We had a cockroach in the room, my partner used a shoe to kill it and hit the wall a little which led to some dust and the wall crumble a little, which was never touched or mopped up in the whole time that we were there. We paid around six hundred pounds each for this holiday and I was absolutely disgusted with the state of the place. Last year we went to Crete, and we paid roughly five hundred pounds for a four star newly renovated hotel. The standard of that hotel was amazing, the food was different everyday, the rooms were cleaned and beds were stripped everyday, the coffee and tea was replaced, they moved the furniture just to mop and sweep the place, I know this because one day I was sat in the room whilst the cleaner was there. We had a double bed, unlike the two singles we had. Upon our arrival in Crete we were checked in and our luggage was taken for us to our rooms within ten minutes, a face towel was given to us as well as a glass of water.More
Perfect on a budget
We booked this holiday just over a month ago, on a tight budget we just wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful where we could relax for a week, and that is exactly what we did! I really can't complain about anything for what we paid, there was always something to do and plenty to eat (and drink), sometimes a bit of a random selection of food but it was cooked well and tasted good (the fresh baguettes were a hit with me!). The snacks by the pool were pretty standard but just what we needed to soak up the cocktails. The bar staff were really attentive and friendly, the great thing about the outdoor bar is you can help yourself to soft drinks and beer which meant there was never really a queue to get cocktails etc. The rooms were spot on, clean with a large bedroom, plenty of storage and hangers. The shower was really good and bathroom was modern. Also a little kitchen if you fancy making something yourself. This is a very family friendly hotel, children were always being entertained by the animation team so didn't bother us at all. Evening entertainment was... entertaining!! Always something different and the magic show was brilliant! A really enjoyable holiday would definitely go backMore
First impression isn't a wow,,,,but the hotel looks modern, and is just out of the centre so you can walk easily down to the beachs...shops,bars,free bus to centre and a taxi is cheep enough.... It isn't in a noisy area ...on the quite side, having been before...there are some improvements. new sunbeds, more parasols and the improvements are on going.. Food was ok...but as we use it as a base we also ate out, trying the different restaurant Good local pubs too... Reception was always pleasant and helpful, not much entertainment tho,and no help with cases either...if you had mobility problems..there is no help ...no lifts but the hotel is only 3 stories high... The bed rooms are ok...clean bed new mattress...but the pull out beds need replacing...we were lucky we had a 2 bed room apartment and 1 bed apartment.beds were made everyday and towels changed... Plenty of staff in the restaurant and tables. Cloths changed after every customer ,for me I would have liked more verities in food...but it caters for families so ... We will go again as we like the position of the hotel...More

AVOID!!!! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!
This hotel is just dreadful!!! Rude staff and awful food which is left out all day. Our bed was infested with bed bugs which the receptionist did nothing about except laugh in your face and be just rude. ( we slept on the sofa) We had a leak from the air con which leaked right next to an electric plug and having asked to be moved or fixed he said they was fully booked and he will try but nothing's guaranteed! A LEAK ON AN ELECTRIC PLUG!!! Nothing could get these receptionist to see how dangerous this really was!! The wifi is €18 Euro a day for 2 devices. We was under impression it was free so please be aware of that!! €5.50 to use the safe a day. 😮 Unless you are awake at 6am you will not get a sunbed just the white crappy ones which are very uncomfortable when people leave there towels there all day and no where to be seen. All i can say is PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AND DO NOT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!! More
