Casa Maris

Private and pretty, Casa Maris is as charming as they come. Set in a mountain village at an altitude of 600 metres, it serves up great panoramic views over the countryside. And although you're fairly secluded here, you're not too far off the beaten track. The pretty village of El Paso is a five-minute drive and has a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. There's also a silk museum which is well worth a visit. And if you fancy a spell on the shores, the beach is about 20 minutes by car.

When you want to hide away though, this traditional, Canarian-style villa is the perfect place to unwind. And there's no better spot than by the pool. Bordered by sunbeds, flowers and plants, it sits in a pretty courtyard with a wooden dining table for al fresco meals. It has lovely views over the hills, too. And although Casa Maris is joined to two neighbouring villas, it still gives you plenty of privacy.

Inside, the Casa Maris has been recently refurbished. The walls have been painted in a soft, moss-green, providing the farmhouse-style furnishings with a soothing background. It's all very rustic, with vaulted-wood ceilings, tiled floors and wooden furniture, so it's great for those who want to experience traditional La Palma. You'll find an open-plan living space with a small kitchen, dining table and a country-cosy lounge with a quirky sofa cut into the natural stone. And there's a lovely bedroom with beamed ceilings. In short, it's got everything you need for a hideaway for two.
