We booked this as a late deal and I was a little sceptical reading some of the reviews. How wrong I was. We checked in with very helpful and polite reception staff (Romano, I think) and went to our room (517). This was on the top floor in a corner so had a beautiful panoramic sea view and also overlooked the pool area. The 1 bed apt was spacious and spotless. The curtains and bed top cover could do with a bit if an upgrade but perfectly acceptable. The "kitchen-in-cupboard" was small but had everything if you wanted to prepare your own food, incl toaster, kettle, microwave. We found that it was almost as cheap to eat all meals out so the kitchen stayed closed off mostly. Hot water was plentiful and shower powerful. There was a hairdryer in bathroom and a supply of soap, shower gel, shampoo, cotton buds and cotton wool pads. It would have been useful to have a clothes airer on the balcony. Snacks were available all day at the pool side bar and were good value and fair quality. The drinks were a bit on the pricey side at the bar and there were vending machines with bottles of soft drinks for €2 each. The hotel entertainment was great. The team are a credit to the hotel and daytime/evening activities were inclusive and fun without being in your face. Everyone seemed to enjoy the foam party late one afternoon. Es Cana itself is a smallish family friendly resort with enough small shops, restaurants and small supermarkets. We ate in a different place each evening and our bills ranged from €40-70 for two adults and a teenager so we thought reasonable enough. We particularly enjoyed Jacaranda and Mirandas but would steer clear of Mar Vent in future as found the service very poor and waiters on the rude side. We found the best beach to be Cala Nova beach and worth the short walk. Would return to Es Cana and would certainly have no hesitation to stay at the Atlantic again. More
Good family apartments
We have just come back from a family self catering holiday at Atlantic apartments, Es Canar. Overall very impressed. Apartments are clean, modern & spacious - we had 2 bathrooms which was great although one of them was a little tired. Air con in all rooms. Get a tiny kitchenette but better equipped than others we have been to. Beds were comfortable. Daily maid service, change towels etc, very good. Swimming pool ideal, lots of space & sunbeds. Also recommended if you have very young kids i.e. 1-5 as there is a 'mini club' separate pool, sun loungers & play park. Lots of pool fun activities for kids & adults during the day run by the entertainment crew who were excellent - highlights were the foam pool party & free sangria! Evening entertainment was pretty good & the quiz nights a lot of fun. The snack bar (hot food) is open until 9 pm and the drinks bar until midnight. The apartment complex was tidy & well presented & not too noisy at night either. The walk to the beach & the main waterfront is an easy 5 mins with lots of bars etc. Beach is pleasant & clean . Would recommend the Marvent restaurant for good family meals. My only gripe at the Atlantic is the Wi-Fi which is 20 euros for 2 devices, so for a larger family like mine that's 60 euros. I've been to 3 star hotels offering this service free. My advice, go down to any of the bars/restaurants in Es Canar & pick up your Wi-Fi free for the evening! In conclusion a worthy 4 star accomodation, excellent entertainment team, great for families in particular. More
We stayed here as a family with 2 boys 12 & 11. We've never done self catering before so was quite apprehensive but there are plenty of places to eat in the local area even though we spent way more than we thought! Anyway, Atlantic is not a 4 star hotel....I'd say 3 at best and that's given for the overall cleanliness of the rooms and hotel. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every noise your neighbours next door and above say and do.....and unfortunately we had noisy neighbours! Any complaint calls to reception were dealt with quickly though.....it's just a shame people have to be so ignorant! Also be aware on a Weds night the bar behind the hotel plays reggae music till 2am loudly......we were pool facing so didn't sleep. Bathrooms clean but the shower was a bit of a hazard as leaked and water got everywhere.....always hot water though and plenty of towels. We never ate in the hotel so couldn't comment on food etc....large beer €3 and a wine was €2. The kitchen in the room was fine to make breakfast and lunch in and there is a supermarket a 2 min walk away. Pool area nice and clean and always managed to get a bed but more parasols would be good. Beach is a few mins walk away and is lovely but 2 beds and a parasol were €18! Love Es Cana but probably wouldn't return to the Atlantic.....purely because of the noise! More
A good hotel for families
Just back from a week at the Azuline Atlantic in ES Canar and I'm glad we chose it as a last minute deal. We did bed and breakfast and my family loved the buffet breakfast each day...lots of choice from pancakes or omelettes cooked to order, full English sausage, bacon etc, fresh melon , continental meats and cheeses to cakes and pastries ( kids appreciated the latter as its weetabix for breakfast at home!). Our room (507) had super cold air con and a great view of the pool with a tiny kitchen in a cupboard but we ate out each day and really only used the fridge for water. Sadly it has to be bottled in Ibiza which is a pain but there's a small supermarket just around the corner so we could stock up daily. The hotel sold small bottles but these were very uneconomical so we avoided. We didn't eat any evening meals at the hotel as Es Canar has a lovely selection of family friendly restaurants all within easy reach of the hotel. I would recommend the Paella at La Perla......we loved it so much we visited and ordered it 3 times......we really love seafood and their calamaris was excellent too.My husband celebrated his birthday there one evening and the fab waiter was so helpful as he advised me on the nearest bakery to order a cake and hid it until we 'surprised' him! The entertainment each night at the hotel was varied, for example flamenco , a parrot show and African dancing.....the kids especially enjoyed these. Their pool was good...busy but it's peak season so that's to be expected. The gym was a nice idea but not air conditioned so we used it once only. Es Canar was the perfect resort for our kids, aged 8 and 14 and both crazy about swimming . The beach was great for snorkelling and I expected them to start growing fins as they spent so man hours snorkelling there ( rash vests on of course....!!! The sun was intense as it was August),The hotel was only 200m from the beach and even closer to the bus terminal so we caught the very reliable, air conditioned cheap local buses on two days and avoided paying the rip off prices Thompsons charge for excursions. We did an evening trip to Ibiza Town....its just gorgeous....go to the old town it has a fabulous atmosphere and cobbled streets full of restaurants...high on a hill it overlooks the marina where the swankiest boats I have ever seen were .....one even had its own helicopter....! Another trip we did was to Porto San Migel caves....but that involved lots of steps so not great for the very yong or those with poor mobility. Would I recommend E's Canar...yes, and the Atlantic....yes...probably more 3 star than 4 but it was very clean, nice breakfasts, great location and good entertainment !!!More
A fairly decent hotel ...
This hotel is sparkling clean, fact. Two main things let it down in my opinion The sofa bed is too small for adults to share and unsteady collapses easily. Secondly the animation team is very clique filled if your face fits then great ; but my two grandsons were left out in the cold all week :( Whole place finally goes quiet enough to sleep about midnight. The race for sun beds is a game we don't play so no sunbeds for us all week but that was our choice. The animation guy is a marmite character. Maybe you will love him, but not more than he loves himself. Anyways the beach is fabulous and very close.More
