The five star Sheraton Salobre is a luxurious hotel that sits among hills above Maspalomas and peers down across its own 36-hole golf course. Complete with a spa, three restaurants and a patchwork of pools and sun decks, it’s pulled out all the stops when it comes to relaxation.

And it’s the hotel’s pool scene that impresses first. Intricately tiered into the hillside and sunk between sundecks and palms, the seven heated pools step down to different levels. Inside, the hotel’s just as chic. The lobby mixes Scandinavian-style elements with Mediterranean touches. Think light-wood cladding, funky globe-lights hung at different heights and huge cacti and palms in large, Habitat-esque pots. And the bedrooms are just as stylish. Cue big comfy beds dressed in neutrals, sliding doors to your own terrace and a spa-style wood-and-marble bathroom. Plus, you’ve got added extras like satellite TV, bathrobes and Wi-Fi, too.

Food-wise, you’ve got a choice. Opt for Gofio restaurant for buffet breakfasts – think everything from croissants to caviar, plus buffet evening meals, too. There’s also La Palmera restaurant with views across the pools and for something light, the Perenquen tapas bar.

As for facilities, the Sheraton Salobre’s thought of everything. There’s a spa with rock sauna, bio sauna and Turkish bath, plus a host of treatments for your picking. You’ve also got a fitness centre, and, not forgetting, a 36-hole golf course all within the resort.

When you want to explore, take a trip to Maspalomas beach on the hotel shuttle-bus. Or the Arguineguin resort and harbour is just a six kilometre taxi-ride away.
