Looking out over a marina and the beach, these modern apartments know a thing or two about great views. Pretty panoramas are dished up at the palm-fringed pool and al fresco snack bar, as well as from the room balconies and terraces.
It’s the location that scores top marks here. Overlooking the marina and just a five-minute walk from the beach, these apartments offer up impressive sea views. A ten-minute walk along the coast, meanwhile, takes you to the heart of lively Puerto Rico. It’s packed with shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
Setting aside, the swimming pool is noteworthy. It’s the shape of a triangle and is set facing the marina, which means you can watch the boats bob in and out of the harbour while you relax on the sun terrace or by the snack bar. What’s more, the whole set-up is fringed by palm trees and well-kept lawns, there’s a real air of privacy.
As for the apartments, they’ve recently been renovated so everything’s up to date. Décor is fresh and classic – think whitewashed walls, tiled floors and a mix of wooden and wicker furniture. They all come with satellite TVs and well-equipped kitchens, too, as well as sea or harbour-facing balconies or terraces.
Lastly, when you don’t fancy cooking, the hotel’s pool bar serves up snacks like toasties, omelettes and burgers throughout the day. For proper meals, head down to the marina for tapas and fresh seafood on the harbourside terraces. Or, for more in the way of eateries and after-dinner entertainment, make for Puerto Rico and make a night of it.

Stayed here recently with my husband and my mum (who is 82). Great apartment (number 438) which was very near lift which was great for mum. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Pity about lack of wifi in apartments and I would suspect that in summer you would need air con. Beautiful balcony and view of the marina. Pool is very deep so perhaps not suitable for young children or non-swimmersMore

Rubbish ... Literally
Just got back from a 2 week holiday at this hotel. First thing theres no air con just a ceiling fan and some windows. Me and my boyfriend where on the very end of the hotel with no sea view. At 4.30am every morning we were woken up by the bin men which in turn led to the whole apartment smelling of rubbish. Also the toaster almost set me on fire, as the plastic had melted the pins had moved and the plug sparked. Not safe for children!!
The fridge smelt as bad as the bins. On our arrival and there was a nice frozen delight left in our freezer by the people before in the form of a nice tropical drink. The cleaning left a lot to be desired, by the last day our towels were filthy! The maids actually picked our towels off of the floor and hung them back up!
I have only rated this hotel as 1 due to the fact that the hotel room service food was banging.
If you are reading this after having just booked your holiday that you have saved up all year for... GOOD LUCK (make sure to take out holiday insurence)More

Just got back from 14 days and had a great time , our room was lovely and comfy but could have done with air con , we hired a fan for the bedroom as it was so hot , even the locals said it was a heat wave for September 30c in the shade at 6.00pm! The room was lovely and clean and the maids came every day to mop the floors and do a general tidy , every 3 days they came to change the towels and bed linen. Apart from the heat the beds were lovely and comfy and the room had a good sized balcony overlooking the marina. It was quiet at night even though it is near the main road but our bedroom was at the back so was ok, probably noisier in peak season.
The Taj Palace Indian restaurant on site was gorgeous with friendly staff and lovely food, the onsite bar was great and run by a lovely cheeky lad called Nigello! Very friendly with a happy hour 4-7 and he brought your drinks to the poolside, lovely big pool with loads of sunbeds and again very quiet. We would stay here again however the rooms should have fans as standard, there was a ceiling fan in the living room which was a waste of time however again it could have been because of the extreme heat. Great time in Puerto Rico lovely area, great beach and very friendly people .....Loved it!More

I have stayed here twice now on holiday to gran canaria and I would stay again! Great location, great value for money and fabulous views from the balconys. The rooms are very clean and not far from the pubs and bars. We ate in the taj palace which is located in the apartments at least 5 times on our last holiday, the wig-wam bar in the apartments is also a great/cosy place to go for drinks at night.. The cocktails are to die for definetly the best in Puerto Rico. Highly recommend the Porto novo apartments, I'll be back again.More
