Looking out over a marina and the beach, these modern apartments know a thing or two about great views. Pretty panoramas are dished up at the palm-fringed pool and al fresco snack bar, as well as from the room balconies and terraces.
It’s the location that scores top marks here. Overlooking the marina and just a five-minute walk from the beach, these apartments offer up impressive sea views. A ten-minute walk along the coast, meanwhile, takes you to the heart of lively Puerto Rico. It’s packed with shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
Setting aside, the swimming pool is noteworthy. It’s the shape of a triangle and is set facing the marina, which means you can watch the boats bob in and out of the harbour while you relax on the sun terrace or by the snack bar. What’s more, the whole set-up is fringed by palm trees and well-kept lawns, there’s a real air of privacy.
As for the apartments, they’ve recently been renovated so everything’s up to date. Décor is fresh and classic – think whitewashed walls, tiled floors and a mix of wooden and wicker furniture. They all come with satellite TVs and well-equipped kitchens, too, as well as sea or harbour-facing balconies or terraces.
Lastly, when you don’t fancy cooking, the hotel’s pool bar serves up snacks like toasties, omelettes and burgers throughout the day. For proper meals, head down to the marina for tapas and fresh seafood on the harbourside terraces. Or, for more in the way of eateries and after-dinner entertainment, make for Puerto Rico and make a night of it.

Portonovo apartments had perfect location, near to harbour, beach and short walk to centre where the shopping is. I had a view to the harbour and beach, allthough It was on the first floor I enjoyed it a lot. Pool area was ok, nothing special.More

Apartments with different raiting
If you are planning to stay at Portonovo, make sure you got an apartment on one of the higher floors. On first floor you have restaurants under you and a busy street just outside your balcony. But on the higher floors those problems are gone. Nice and clean apt and new sheets and towels once a week. Cleaning every day except sunday.
Free wii-fii in all restaurants around the hotell and in the reception.More

Great views! Apts a little shabby
We stayed early October for 2wks at the Portonovo apts. We were disappointed with the condition of the apts overall although the view and location more than made up for it. We stayed in apt 232, quiet with great view of the marina ( after they chopped down the overhanging palms during our 2nd wk). Plenty of storage space in the bedroom and reasonable amount of space in the apartment overall. The bathroom probably let the apts down the most with visible pipes from a bidet which had been removed some time previously and the odd rusty spot on the bath. We were let down on arrival with the cleanliness as it was clear that the floors hadn't been mopped or brushed prior to our arrival but overall that improved as the holiday went on, some maids were better than others. We hired a fan for the duration from reception at around 35 euros for the 2 wks but worth it as having heard about various break in's we didn't feel safe leaving our window open in the bedroom and It was very warm at night. Our room had the bedroom at the front, some had bedrooms at the back which i think would be noisier as directly on the walkway to get to all apts. They also have safe deposit boxes for hire. Lovely pool side area although the reserving of beds became a problem towards the end of our holiday as a few larger groups were reserving 5-6 beds at a time and then not using them until late afternoon. We complained to the reception but they weren't interested. Very handy for the beach as just across the road and my son loved watching the ferry's coming and going oh and the pirate ship! We ate in the Taj Palace which is onsite and overall food was excellent. We found the supermarket directly under the apartments to be as reasonable as those up in the commercial centre so saved on carrying the heavier items. The location and views made up for the apts. If they were refurbished they'd rival other better apts nearby. No wifi in the apts but free wifi could be picked up from the Taj Palace and pool bar at certain spots around the pool.More
Best location, clean, great for families.
Researched all hotels/Appts. This was perfect for our family of 5. Stayed in room 151. ( could here some delivery noise in the morning but not enough to wake my other 4 family members) Lovely and clean and serviced daily. Location was the best. NO STEPS. could cross the road to the beach and Marina, literally stone through away. Pool was lovely with plenty of sun beds, no need to reserve. Lots of restaurants on the door step. The Hotel has an Indian Restaurant which I would score 10/10. In the day it also serves Breakfast ( Full English) and other snacks pizzas, Toasties etc. A 8 min walk you can be in the centre of Puerto Rico, great shopping centre. None of this can be heard from the hotel. Far enough away to feel relaxed and in your own little resort. The beach is lovely with soft sand and safe sea for kids. Ours paddled and swam in and out in rings with us relaxing on the sun beds (4euro) lots of gorgeous Retaurants around the beach. Every night we spent in a different place and all were lovely. Especially TORO BRAVO STEAK HOUSE turn left out of appt. 4 min walk. Service excellent. Every place we eat they spoilt our kids. ( unlike England)
Lots of varied reviews on here but we would definitely return. Is it 5 star no but perfectly adequate for a great holiday with the PERFECT LOCATION.More
