Weeks holiday at portonovo apartments

Had a weeks holiday staying here, arrived very late due to flight delay, in an older room i think as it did need a good re painting, but the room was clean and we had cleaners 4 out of 7 days- changed towels and swept floors, tidied up! bathroom has a hairdryer which was good. Good size place we didnt use any of the cooking facilities as we ate out but there seemed to be everything there that you would need! We had a balcony with a chairs and table but other people had enough room for sun loungers, think it depends on your room. We were 2nd floor not much noise could be heard from the restaurants nearby, just the dustbin people in the morning or the road sweepers, oh and the ball being bounced and kicked below us against a wall!! NO AIR CON though this did disturb us at night it was very muggy! Just a ceiling fan but in the lounge room rather than bedroom. Pool was nice size, lots of sun beds to choose although people did claim them in the morning, but usually some left in the day. Short walk to the beach to the right about 5-10mins along the pavement across the road, does get very busy there and then amadores beach about 20-25minute walk. lots of restaurants to choose from and shops nearby, cheapest local shop rather than spar shop next to the hotel. Bus station fairly nearby aswell bout 10 minute walk near mini golf also, were u can go to the waterpark or palmitos zoo aswell for bout 6 euros return. Was an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.More

Lovely Holiday at Portonovo

We visited the Portonovo apartments for a one week holiday & it was lovely. The whole apartment complex is currently undergoing a revamp & some of the updated rooms look lovely. Unfortunately we were in an older room, so everything looked very old and tattered. However this didn't bother us to much as we only use it for a base, the main thing was that it's very clean!! The maids came in everyday, changed towels 3 times & bed sheets once. As they are updating the building there were quite a few workman around, however they never really bothered us & were very friendly when you walked passed. The pool is lovely, even though it is right on the road it's a very relaxing place to be & was very quiet when we were there, never had any problems getting a sunbed (these were also super comfy) They have the Taj Palace which is a pool bar in the day & Indian at night, we only ate there in the day, but it was very convenient & the waiters are lovely & friendly. Always remembered our lunchtime drinks order!! The resort of Puerto Rico is very British, we struggled to find anywhere with traditional Spanish food to eat, it's mainly streak houses, especially in the main shopping centre. The restaurants along the beach are really nice with lovely views. The best food we had whilst we were there & the best champagne sangria, was in Nube, the restaurant is just underneath the apartments near the supermarket. Lovely food and superb value. Most nights we ended up in MCools, an Irish bar across the road, such a friendly fun place with live music most nights finished off with some karaoke!! Also went to see Music Hall Tavern, this is a fantastic fun evening of a glitzy drag show, we laughed so much I would definitely recommend. All in all a lovely holiday and if I went back to Gran Canaria i would stay here again, especially as it is on the flat, so no need to walk up any hills!! More

Great location!

Just returned from a week at the apartments after our first visit to gran canaria. Firstly, fantastic location with the beach and marina just a few steps away over the road, rare in the area! The apartments are great, comfortable and clean. We had cleaners visit 4 times in 7 days. We were in room 151, right at the beach end by the road...a little noisy with all the vans and coaches passing, but it wasn't a problem for us having booked just 6 days prior. However, if you can, ask for an apartment over looking the pool. The place is undergoing maintenance currently, painting and some building work, but it's no major disruption and the workers are polite and considerate and will be done before July aparently. If you like sea fishing, I recommend the cavalier, great guys and we were lucky to catch 2 huge marlin on our trip, pretty awsome. Our friends went on the African and also had an amazing day. Some great bars and restaurants in the area...the shopping centre though was not our cup of tea, English and irish bars and very busy so we only went once...be warned, the perfume shops there don't do the best price compared to others! Best day had was a ferry to mogan. ..beatiful place and a must..busy on market day, worth a visit. Finally, tanishq bar under the apartments. ..perfect little bar and run by Nijel, a welcoming, funny all round lovely guy...he will look after you and put a smile on your face! Overall, a great last minute break to get away from it all, would go back for sure, it is good value for money for great weather, location and clean basic accommodation. ..enjoy!More

zoe N,

2 week holiday to Puerto Rico Gran Canaria 14-28/06/2016

My wife and I booked 2 weeks at these apartments , Booked flights and Apartments and picked a taxi up at Las Palmas Airport ( Aprox 60 Euro's). On arrival our keys were in an envelope on the reception desk , After a short confusion on lifts , our room 336 , lift visible at reception only to level 2 , Reception Manager arrived back at desk and from that point all was sorted , safe fee and a deposit of 25 Euro's for the TV remote which is refundable on departure. We went up to room 336 and on entry was well impressed , The view over the Marina is stunning and this is visible from both lounge and balcony but also the bedroom view as well. The Apartments are equipt with microwave full fridge freezer and lots of other good equipment , Bathroom with shower cubicle and cleaned regularly. The next morning , we went to reception and asked if my wifes brother and wife,s apartment was close to ours ( they booked our second week ) , The very helpful reception moved them to within 5 rooms of ours, however on arrival amazed to find they had moved them again , this time just 2 apartments away. Brother in law and wife also loved there apartment , After an excellent first day of our holiday , at tea time we retired to our apartment and wife turned TV on for the news , all Spanish channels, One call later to reception and 10 minutes later staff arrived and retuned TV and lots more channels including ITV and BBC ( Good for tea time Euro footy kick offs ). On leaving after 2 weeks excellent holiday and superb weather , again our excellent reception organised a Taxi back to the airport ( same cost ) , the pool is large and sunbeds plentiful , However some towels left on over night , that needs addressing as no real need. We did spend some days at the pool and some days around the sea wall ( 4 euros per sun bed and 4 euros if umbrella required ) There was a bit of refurbishment work going on but not a problem and again the men working work really helpful and advised of buttons to unlock security gates at far end of complex. Bars and restaurant and spa store close by and main center with shops and bars / restaurants are a steady 15 min walk or taxi rank opposite at marina.. On departure I and Brother-in - law both collected contact details to book direct ( awful place , dont go there , Seriously we want to keep this place ourselves LOL ) its a gem in a brilliant settingMore
