We stayed at Portonovo Apartments clean very big as we paid more and had a 2 bedroom one, there was everything you needed and a good size fridge & top is a freezer in the bathroom was a shower with good hot water and a hair dryer for the ladies and a good size balcony which we enjoy having a glass of wine . Great views of the Marina and beach, the only thing we found was we were over the Supermarket and they had early morning delivery every day which was noisy. After they had delivered we fell back to sleep, the maid was brilliant and was in every day expect Sunday and clean towels every other day.The pool was big great for adults as it was a deep pool, not so good if you have children. The road was busy as it leads to the small port where all the boats & Ferry take people to other places.Under the apartments near by the pool is a Tanishq Bar run by Nigel who is lovely, he has music on Friday & Sunday the people who played there were very good.Next to the Bar is the Indian restaurant called Taj Palace which the food is very good it also has a bar so you can have a drink if you want, there is lots of eating places all which are good and good value for money. If you need to change English money the Portnovo do not do this, but the big shopping Centre near the bus station there is a walk way through the park which takes you to the Centre here there is a few of exchange shops to change your money. There is also quite a few cash machines. around Puerto Rico. For September it was very hot and the down side we had no Fan or air conditing in the Apartment, very hot at night, but saying this we still had a great holiday.More

Very poor accomodation
I travelled with my wife and daughter. When we arrived at the apartment building the apartment we were given looked as though it was still occupied. the beds were dishevelled, there were dirty dishes in the sink and there was rubbish lying about. I immediately complained and was given another room. this room, although it had been cleaned, was not much better. the toilet flush was broken, the shower head was hanging off the wall, there appeared to be excrement on the toilet pedal bin and dried blood on the balcony curtains. We were led to believe that as there were three of us that there would be two beds and a cot bed. there were in fact two single beds and an old dishevelled couch which looked the worst for wear as did the bed linen. I had to ask for additional linen to make up the couch into a bed. we stayed the first night and in the morning I complained to the Thomson rep. She did arrange for us to view a third room. This room was at the farthest end of the complex and although the furnishings appeared newer and cleaner, it was overlooking a busy road interchange and was directly opposite a busy bar restaurant and directly over a supermarket. This was not acceptable either, the accommodation was not up to standard, very basic and unhygienic. as a result we moved out the second day and found alternative accommodation. as we were non longer staying at the apartments, our taxi transfers back to the airport were not honoured and I had to pay a private taxi to take us back to the airport.
Very disappointing and I have to say misleading from what was portrayed on the website.More

Great place in perfect location!
Just back from a lovely week in these apartments, loved them! They had everything you needed and ours was a spacious 2 bedroom apartment for just the 2 of us! Bathroom was lovely with walk in shower and living area had sofas and a dining table, you can get the TV remote from reception for â¬20 which they give you back at the end of your stay but not too many English channels on anyway, not that we needed the TV as we were in room 350 which was right at the beach/marina end of the complex and the view was amazing from morning through until night!
The pool area was great and we never had a problem getting a sun lounger no matter what time we went down at but not sure what this is like during the busy summer period?
Nice food beside the pool like bar snacks etc during the day and it turns in to an Indian restaurant at night!
Nigel in Tanishq bar by the pool makes the best cocktails to cool you down after a long day in the sun! Happy hour until 7pm and the cocktails are â¬5!
The wigwam bar at the apartments is also really nice and there are a few more restaurants beside it and a handy pharmacy and supermarket.
There is also a beauticians beside the pool who do all sorts of treatments from helping your sun burn to massages.
If you go out of the apartments to the left and go through the tunnel and up the hill you will find more lovely restaurants and bars, I can thoroughly recommended durty nellys Irish bar, they have the best singer called Dean Facey who performs on Sunday's and Tuesday's, he is amazing doing music from 60s upwards, there is also Karaoke too if you fancy it!
Out to the right of the apartments is the main beach and again lots of nice restaurants here and there is a massive spar supermarket too. About a 5 minute walk from the apartments there is the commercial centre and it is jam packed with shops, restaurants and bars, you also have the Europa Centre way up the top of Puerto Rico for more restaurants and entertainment but you will need a taxi to get here but it was only a couple of euro!
We did the Friday boat trip to Mogan for market day, it's just a short trip around the coast and it's so pretty and the market is great if you need to pick up any souvenirs or nice leather belts or wallets etc.
The other boat trip to do is the "Spirit of the Seas" where they take you way out to see the Dolphins! We had an amazing day seeing the Atlantic spotted Dolphins, a Bryde's whale, sea turtle and flying fish, so beautiful to see them in their natural habitat!
All the boat trips leave from the marina just across the road from the apartments, just practically on the door step!
I would recommend these apartments, for location and staff!
The only thing I would say is that our weather was in low 30s and if you are going when it's warmer than that during the busier months you may want to see about a fan for the room and there was no air conditioning and getting ready to go out for the night was done very slowly with lots of breaks for a sit down and a drink (any excuse) :)More
Most of the reviews for these appartments were positive but there were several that worried us. We needn't have been worried, the appartment was spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and comfortable, we had an amazing view of the marina/harbour with many a pleasant morning eating breakfast listening to the gently sounds of the boats. The beach, shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance of the appartments and we couldn't have wanted for more. The Taj Palace on the appartment complex serves amazing breakfasts, and the most delicious indian food in the evening, a definite must if you stay there. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful, and we will definitely return.More
