It’s the location that scores top marks here. Overlooking the marina and just a five-minute walk from the beach, these apartments offer up impressive sea views. A ten-minute walk along the coast, meanwhile, takes you to the heart of lively Puerto Rico. It’s packed with shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
Setting aside, the swimming pool is noteworthy. It’s the shape of a triangle and is set facing the marina, which means you can watch the boats bob in and out of the harbour while you relax on the sun terrace or by the snack bar. What’s more, the whole set-up is fringed by palm trees and well-kept lawns, there’s a real air of privacy.
As for the apartments, they’ve recently been renovated so everything’s up to date. Décor is fresh and classic – think whitewashed walls, tiled floors and a mix of wooden and wicker furniture. They all come with satellite TVs and well-equipped kitchens, too, as well as sea or harbour-facing balconies or terraces.
Lastly, when you don’t fancy cooking, the hotel’s pool bar serves up snacks like toasties, omelettes and burgers throughout the day. For proper meals, head down to the marina for tapas and fresh seafood on the harbourside terraces. Or, for more in the way of eateries and after-dinner entertainment, make for Puerto Rico and make a night of it.

Great location..average accommodation
This hotel is in a fab location down near the marina with all rooms having a balcony looking out on either the marina or the beach. The majority of the rooms are over shops/restaurants but fortunately most patrons are gone home by 11/11.30pm so noise is not an issue. We had a room on the 3rd floor which is an ideal location with sun on the balcony most of the day. The cleaning service was good with fresh towels every second day. I felt we paid a lot for what we got but this was due to it being peak season. The apartment is fairly big however the bed used for a third person is terrible and a bit like sleeping on a park bench , not v pleasant. Jose in reception was extremely helpful which was great. The pool and sun beds were busy but lovely cushions available so could stay there all day. V relaxed with few children around. The taj palace Indian in the same complex is lovely and v handy for an easy nite in..More

first of all what is SUSAN B from Pontefract moaning at when my family and I stayed at these apts in september28th-5 October 2013 we had a room on the 2nd floor I think and we were directly above yogi and bennys and it did not smell at all like a greasy spoon café and we couldn't smell the other restaurants either and as for the road noise close your windows or put in ear plugs the apartments were clean and tidy comfortable beds and excellent shower plenty of sun beds and good pool it was a nice change to be on the flat as it was twenty years since we came to gran canaria and we stayed up at the eden apts we went up to visit and boy has it changed up there the Europa center is not to my liking at all so any one who comes to gran canaria I highly recommend the portonovo apts some people must like to moan your holiday is what you make it.More

nice hotel but rude staff.
we went to this hotel in may 2013 so this is a late review but i always review a hotel so felt i had too.there were 3 of us travelling,me my mrs and our 2year old boy, we arrived on our first night, late at night we were met by a man at reception who gave us an envolope with our key in,we went to our room and it was awful, even though i had called 2weeks before to ask for a pool view and the hotel said no problem atall and that our room was beautiful and overlooked the pool,so when we saw the room we had been given we couldnt beleive our eyes,we were at the very end of the block, the very last room which overlooked a roundabout and had a massive tree infront of balcony..when we looked at our envelope they had given us one with the name WARD on it and we were WOOD.the man on reception couldnt do anything so in the morning we complained to thompsons and we were eventually moved on the 2nd day of our 7 day stay, although i must say our new room had a fab pool and marina view.on a whole the hotel is very nice, food at pool bar good,so were the drinks, very fair prices too.and hotel in a great location to beach and bars and restraunts.the main issue i have is that some of the staff on reception were so so rude, especially the older guy.he was very rude and needs to learn a few manors.but on a whole a good family holiday had by us :-) would i return? ? Yes...More

Good for the Weather
We stayed at these apartments in November 2013 and overall it was a very pleasant stay.it rained one day but after that the weather was perfect hitting 22 deg. the apartment we were in belonged to Bahia Blanca a one bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen - lounge and a lovely balcony and it would sleep 4 with a fold up bed/sofa in the lounge...there is a big pool and an Indian Restaurant on site and some lovely restaurant nearby. The apartments are on the flat with no hills to climb..near a lovely harbour with ferries going to nearby villages on a regular basis...The down side if any is the aroma that floats in the air from the nearby Indian Restaurant..Wi-fi is available at nearby outlets.More
