Marina Suites

Just a stone's throw from the beach and moments from the marina, this good-looking hotel is in a first-class spot. Sea views come courtesy of the huge pool area and modern apartments. Meanwhile, the buffet restaurant lays on international theme nights.

This place is the epitome of contemporary chic. Think clean lines, big windows and fresh white walls, all bordered by rows of exotic palms. And its location is just as impressive. Pulled up against Puerto Rico’s stylish marina and just footsteps from the beach, it’s surrounded by great scenery and restaurants. Plus, when you want to explore Puerto Rico itself, the town centre is just a ten-minute walk away.

If you’re staying put, meanwhile, there’s a fantastic pool scene at the hotel. It’s a huge sea-facing rectangular number framed by a wide sun terrace. Pull up a lounger and relax here or grab a table at the poolside bar and order a spot of lunch – every dish comes with a side-order of sea views.

Head inside, meanwhile, and the laidback theme continues. All the suites come with a view of the sea or marina, plus a roomy balcony or terrace from which to enjoy it. You’ll get a mini kitchen, too, complete with all the essentials – including the all-important microwave and coffeemaker. Factor in a separate bedroom and a living area with a sofa-bed and there’s plenty of space to spread out. In-room extras like air-conditioning and satellite TV complete the picture.

On the food front, there's the buffet eatery offering a mix of international favourites, regional specialities. For an extra special dining experience, check out the regular theme nights. We’re talking flavoursome evenings courtesy of Mexico, China and Spain..

Great hotel

Just back after spending 10 days in this hotel. The hotel is spotless, great location with great staff. My only suggestion( which I made to the lovely manageress !!) was that they could put in some decking in for sun loungers below the infinity pool. Will be booking for next year. Best wishes from Glasgow. ps... the 'girl' who does the activities is a good laugh with the guests !!More

Excellent but 2 complaints

Beautiful accommodation, beautiful staff, beautiful food BUT 2 complaints. Lighting in bedroom was so dim that I had to remove all of my clothing from a shelf to see what to wear AND buffet food labels got knocked about so it was difficult to tell what was there! I would give 4.5 stars but do not know how to do so. Will be back Ian Carruthers (Minnie something)More

ellie l,

Fantastic as always, brilliant location, superb rooms, great service

This was our 7th trip to the Marina Suites over a 10 year period. The fact that we return year after year says it all really. For a holiday in the sun you really can't beat it. The infinity pool is big enough, the pool bar provides adequate drinks and snacks plus a lunch menu. Breakfast is good - an eat all you can buffet with quite a lot of choice. It's not like the "all inclusive" buffets you see but it's perfectly adequate for the average person. Pool towels are provided and are charged for (unless you are VIP), as is the safe (reduced charge if you are VIP). Towels can be changed with the lifeguard but to save on washing there's a €1.50 charge per towel. I think this is fair if you change twice a week. This was our first trip as a couple as we have always travelled as a family before. We were pleased to receive a VIP card on arrival, although I feel this should have been awarded to us a few years ago!! As we have been here over the years there have been the usual refurbishments to decor, sun beds etc but overall the quality is always maintained. Improvements this year include free wifi in the room, reception and by the pool. Plus a pillow menu chargeable at €7 per week. The parasols have been fixed in position so you cannot move them to suit you but I guess this is to avoid arguments. There are activities throughout the day should you wish to participate, basic stuff like yoga, table tennis, aqua aerobics, pool volleyball. Plus a kids club from 11.30 to 3pm. Night time themed entertainment is also provided but we can't comment on this as we are usually out at dinner when it's on. There is a also a daily masseuse available which can be booked on the day. I had a lymphatic drainage which was a wonderful one and a half hour experience. Well worth the €80 for a treat. We have eaten at the hotel in previous years and the buffet is good but I would always recommend taking a stroll to the many restaurants nearby. Highlights for us include Cosi Come Sei (under the tunnel to the right of the hotel); Minanas (on Avenue de gran canaria); beach club (right across the other side of the bay near the other marina); balcon canario (in the commercial centre) for tapas. Personally it would be nice to not only receive a free drinks voucher as a VIP customer but to be given a voucher for a free lunch or dinner during your stay. A room with a marina view is our preference as more scenic than overlooking the pool and sea but that's just our opinion. The rooms are spacious and well laid out with a kitchenette if you want to make a meal yourself. They remain cool even if the air conditioning is off (as long as you keep the curtains closed). The shower in the bathroom can be a bit temperamental but it's ok if you persevere with it. Maid service is daily except Sunday and Thursday so remember that when you dump your towels on the floor! The maids tend to start around 9.30 in the morning so if you want.a lie in, use the do not disturb signs provided in the room. Here are some improvements that could be made: change the showers in the bathrooms to power showers; bathrobes for VIP guests; voucher for a free lunch or dinner; fewer sun beds around the pool so you don't feel as crammed in. And please can we have a room on the 9th floor on our next trip?More

madalaina,

Fantastic Hotel

Stayed at the marina suites 27th Sept 2014 for 10 days, last year we stayed at the bay view that is a nice apartment/hotel apart from the steps down to the bars/shops, if you want fantastic facilities then it has to be the marina suites, rooms, pool bar, pool, Jacuzzis fantastic all the staff cannot do enough for you, from the moment we arrived at the airport and getting picked up in a BMW and back in a Mercedes by below http://canaryforum.com/2/transfers/transfer-change.html it has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed at and we have been on a lot of holidays. The view over the marina at night is very relaxing when you have just got out of the shower and you are sat there with a drink in your hand, because of this we stayed in some nights and had a Chinese/Indian carry out looking out over the marina watching the world go by, we will be going back again next year, just a word about the sun beds we had no problem at all getting beds I had read some reviews saying you had to be down early to get them, we were coming down at 9:30 onwards and there were lots to choose from if you wanted the 20 or so beds around the top pool then you have to be in the queue at 8am not for me that, thank you to all the staff and the very professional good looking lady that comes around the pool every day asking if everything is ok with your stay. Thank you Marina Suites.More

Fantastic as always is.

Just returned from our 7th visit to marina suites. Fantastic room on the 9th floor. Greeting from receptionists so welcoming. The waiters at breakfast greeted us like long lost friends. A lovely touch was one them who has been here since Marina Suites opened came up to us on our 2nd to last morning to say safe journey home, he was having two days off. The entertainment at night was good something for everyone. Fran the lifeguard was as good as ever so patient and helpfull to guests of all ages. It was nice to see Naomi chatting to the guest around the pool , sorting out any problems that might have arisen. The only negative thing a can say is the change in the amination team. I feel Audrey and her male counterpart would be better suited to a hotel accommodating a 18-30 clientele. Not Marina suites usual standards. Getting Marina Sites to organise the transport was brilliant no worries. Breakfast was brilliant enough to suit all the nationalities staying here. It was good to try different breads. Only ate in twice in the evenings the oriental night and steak night. Both excellent. Hope the trainee waiter continues to do well. He was so nervous. Lastly the pillows 100% improvement!!!More
