Marina Suites

The seafront infinity pool turns heads at this hotel, and the centre of Puerto Rico is a short stroll away.

Just a stone's throw from the beach and moments from Puerto Rico’s stylish marina, this hotel is in a first-class spot. It’s having a smart new look in time for July 2015 – the buffet restaurant, pool area and rooms will be modernised and refreshed.

All the suites come with a view of the sea or marina, plus a roomy balcony or terrace from which to enjoy it. You’ll get a mini kitchen, complete with all the essentials – including a microwave and coffeemaker. Factor in a separate bedroom and a living area with a sofa-bed and there’s plenty of space to spread out.

Absolutely Fantastic!

This was our 5th visit to the Marina Suites and we would not change it for the world. Beautiful apartments, very friendly and helpful staff. We met Alexandra at the reception for the first time this visit and she couldn't have done any more to help us, also Alex who we had met before was extremely helpful at the reception. As was all the staff. We will be back next year! :DMore

Fantastic

Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Beautifully decorated in a nautical theme and immaculately clean. All staff are friendly and helpful. Great amenities. Rooms are spacious and well decorated and beds are comfortable. Superb infinity swimming pool with stunning views of the sea. Lovely food and the all you can eat breakfast buffet for ten euros is great. The location is perfect. Right by the marina and just a short walk to the beach and town. Close enough from town to walk but far enough away to not be disturbed by noise. This really is a beautiful hotel and I would definitely stay here againMore

Clare D,

Really lovely hotel :)

My family and I (nine of us across 3 generations) visited the Marina Suites in August 2015. We had a lovely time. The staff were friendly, accommodating and professional. The location is great. It took about 1 hour from Las Palmas airport. We took a taxi which was great as there wasn't a hundred and one stops along the way (like you get with coach transfers). The hotel is situated beside a lovely Marina and its a five minute walk to a ferry which takes you to nearby towns. The food was lovely. It was in a buffet style and they had a chef doing live cooking in front of you. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. I stayed on one of the 'put up' beds in the lounge area and that was surprisingly comfortable too. I second other reviewers' comments about the sun loungers. There was a queue every morning at 8am despite the hotel having a 'rule' not to reserve sun beds. My parents have also visited the Marina Suites in October time and the sun bed issue was less of a problem (as it was not in school holiday time). The pool was lovely but also agree with other comments that it could be bigger for the size of the hotel. It would also be nice to have an adult only section of the pool. Overall, we had a brilliant time and I would go as far as saying that it's one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in (in terms of value for money, comfort, enjoyment and location). Thank you Marina Suites - you'll be seeing us again some day soon! More

It's okay, not great

Firstly, location: Puerto Rico is not picturesque but the hotel is situated nicely near the harbour, so, with its infinity pool, it looks a jewel at night time. There are two beaches close by and a supermarket within 15 minutes walk for the usual snacks etc for lunchtimes, if you prefer as an alternative to hotel food. The bus station is a short walk for trips to Maspalomas, Playa Del Ingles or Las Palmas. Puerto Rico commercial centre is grim but full of restaurants and bars as well as an entertaining crazy golf course. The water park, which is somewhere we were aiming for in Puerto Rico, is shut. Nearest is Maspalomas. Rooms in the hotel - we had a two bed, two bath room with a nice size lounge/kitchenette and balcony - are very comfortable, clean and well serviced by the maids. There is a decent fridge, microwave and even a hob with halogen rings in the kitchen and a comfortable sofa with TV in the lounge. The balcony was large with a table and chairs for four people along with two easy chairs in plastic. Only the clothes storage really lets down the bedrooms. It's just one rustic wardrobe in addition to a rail running the length of the room with hangers out in the open for hanging up trousers etc. By the pool. Beds are crammed in with a good supply of parasols (the lifeguard will find you beds plus parasols if none available). With breakfast ending around eleven it's probably a good idea to appear by the pool at around half nine to grab some as they do disappear quickly. The pool attendant will collect single lone beds if you're desperate and have missed out on them as well as parasols from the "bed reservers" who towel the beds and vanish for hours. The pool itself (there is only one) is tiny and built to represent an infinity pool. There is a massage station by the pool and a pool bar for snacks and drinks. Food (breakfast and dinner) Not sure if All-Inclusive is available but we were half-board so only attended for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is okay - usual fayre of English sausages and "bacon" (ha ha) as well as eggs (cooked fresh with pancakes if you so wished), beans etc plus the supplies for continental types with meats and cheeses. Plenty of fruit juices, coffee and tea and so on. With the daily issue of food not being regularly replenished, breakfasts could differ daily so don't expect to find what you had the day before. Served by the pool and generally in the open, breakfast was okay - not fantastic but quite nice. Dinner for the first few days was also served by the pool until the restaurant on the ground floor was refurbished. Variety was limited in both restaurants and served, strangely, in individual pots. It was mostly cold and, in the case of a red curry chicken, uncooked (this was highlighted to the chef but apparently it's supposed to be like that). Fish dishes were usually edible and they did have a show cooking window where you could obtain various items of cooked meats / food if you wished. I would say the hotel is let down severely on its food services mostly due to lack of variety, an insistence on trying to be a level above itself, the non-existence of local dishes (e.g. Canarian potatoes) and a general lack of attention to detail (missing knives and forks, not replenishing supplies, not placing cold desserts in a cold area etc.) Drinks outside your allowance are well priced and the staff are quick in returning with them. Entertainment and staff Staff are excellent, entertainment okay - kids disco etc. really good. Overall - okay not really four star, okay facilities, good location in a poor resort, staff excellent, food a bit meh, pool tiny/beds okay and no need for the seven a.m. towel laying (some still do)!!
