good accommodation and location
Starting with the positives the bungalows are perfect for self catering containing the essentials to get you through your stay here. Equipped with a small hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge freezer. the bungalow is of a decent size with a small terrace at the front with 2 sunbeds and a table and chairs. The downside of the rooms are that they have no air-conditioning this is available at a cost of £70 for a week which seemed a bit steep. There are ceiling fans but their effectiveness is limited. There were also english tv channels in the room and wi-fi that was very fast. A safe was available for an additional fee. The complex is located a 5 min drive from the gumbo centre which is the centre of maspalomas, taxis drive by the entrance to the hotel every minute or 2 so there isn't a long wait at the cost is £3-£4. The sister hotel across the road has a small supermarket that contains all the essentials you need and at a sensible price too. The staff onsite were very helpful and friendly booking us a taxi to the airport that cost £40 this was more appealing that our 2.5hr transfer on the way to the resort. The main reason for the 3 star review stems from the sunbed culture. Sadly when we arrived at the pool on our first day at 8.30 to find every sunbed reserved this was somewhat setting the tone for the week. Although there are 2 sunbeds on your terrace the thought of dragging them the 5 minute walk to the pool and back was not quite what i had in mind for my relaxing weeks holiday. The pool its self its incredibly noisy with people deciding to stage impromptu volleyball matches in the pool and congregating around the entrance/ exit to the pool making it almost impossible to get out. Not to mention the fact the pool is nearly wall to wall with inflatables. In terms of accommodation i can't fault this resort but its not a relaxing peaceful environment to holiday in.More
Great accomodation, shame about the sun lounger situation
Overall, i really enjoyed my stay here, bungalows were clean and well equiped for self catering, staff were pleasant, cleaners came every day except thurs and sundays, the sister complex, had good buffet breakfasts at restaurant and also a well stocked shop, feel it was good value however, ive read on some reviews that that sun loungers are easy to access??? Not in the ten days we were here?! Absolutely ridiculous, such selfish idiots out at stupid o clock reserving sun loungers despite a sign saying no reserving beds? We went down one day, there were over 100 loungers and only 5 people in the pool? Im afraid this is unacceptable and unless the management addresses this problem and enforces the rules we will not be returning, which is a real shame because apart from this we really liked it!!More
So let's start with the positives, the bungalows are fantastic. The terrace of the bungalows is large and there quite a few utensils to cook with. The bathroom comes with a hairdryer and they have baths with shower attachment (in some bungalows) however don't get too excited about this if you are tall, as a short person it was adequate for me but not so much for my boyfriend. We didn't use the faro 2 shopping centre, but we did use the shop across the way at the sister hotel and we found it very reasonable and was well stocked. We only had breakfast and lunch in the bungalow in the evenings we ate out, so we were quite happy with meats, cheese and bread and a couple of snacky bits. Personally I would not come back here, we were told we were in a quiet area but thats actually dependent on your neighbours. Ours was quite accustomed to blaring music (I'm not exaggerating I'm 27 and even I thought it was loud), which early in the evening is fine as we would be getting ready to go out but we'd come back at lunch and it's blaring, come back in the early evening and it's blaring so a siesta is out of the question. I tried and it's not doable. Also considering the bungalows aren't massive, the Spaniards always had a hoard of guests staying with them (which may have been part of my next issue) Now for my real issue, considering most of these reviews say you won't struggle to find a sun bed, I think what a lot of people are failing to mention is that you won't fail to get a sun bed unless you drag yourself out of bed at 7am to lay a towels down. Yes. We had to become those people we hate. We learned the hard way on our first proper day, went to the pool at 09:30 and every sun bed bar 3 (one of which had bird poo on) buried in the bushes which we had to drag out and clean off. It had not changed throughout the holiday, even though in the welcome pack it says reserving sun beds is forbidden, this rule is not enforced. Most of the guests were Spanish or German, our experience was tedious. Kids ruled parents and not the other way around, they were free to run riot and the adults weren't much better. A lot of babies in the pool without swimming nappies, so was always expecting for the pool to get shut down (babies aren't known for their ability to hold their bowels). Also regarding the pool, give me strength - trying to get in and out was a nightmare. There is a perfectly good baby pool that parents dont use, but instead these people use the shallow wider entrance/exit steps and sit on them and older ladies tend to sit on the steps of the standard ladders around the pool or it becomes the glorified baby area. The ground surrounding the pool is incredibly hot so if you can't get out where you got in you will burn your feet but these people will not even acknowledge you if you act typically British, ie. hope that by standing there they will take the hint. Let go of all personal space issues as 2 strangers will conduct a conversation over you on your sun bed whilst lying there and they also shout at eachother even though they're less than a foot apart. The check out time is 12:00 noon but our flight wasn't until 20:10 so reception were kind enough to offer us a room to shower and change in. All in all it's not the relaxing holiday we were planning for, the bungalows, the helpful manner of the staff, location to the Yumbo Centre were really it's saving grace. Our taxi to the Yumbo centre never cost more than 4 euros and to get a taxi just stand outside hotel by the road and taxis just pull up. I would come back to Maspalomas and Gran Canaria in general but I would not stay here.More
Great place for a quiet time
Lovely people minding you, perfect ambience, privacy of your own patio without feeling limited. I recommend including breakfasts. It was my second stay and I may come back again. Big thanks to Carlos for doing more than expected.More
Second time I have stayed here. All I can say is I love it.... if your looking for a loud hectic holiday don't stay it's not 5 star but the cleaners come most days it's clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fairly quiet relaxing holiday. If you want more lively playa de ingles is just 5 minutes by taxi. I will return to sandy golf 😁More
