This place gives you a trio of pools to choose from. And you’re only a short walk from the beach.
This place has a trio of pools, including a big lagoon number. There’s also a large buffet restaurant and a lounge bar that hosts nightly live entertainment like cabaret. The luxury spa rounds things off.
It’s less than 15 minutes’ walk to Playa Capellans Beach, while Levante Beach is even closer. And while it’s a 10-minute walk to the main strip, there are bars and restaurants just outside the door.
The hotel runs the club for ages 3 to 12 years. Whatever your little ones are into they'll be well entertained here. There's art, sports, games and films during the day. And the fun continues into the evening with shows, face painting and a mini-disco.
We had 10 days in this hotel and had a great time. The staff were so good, from the receptionist who were happy for me to check in and print boarding cards, Israel and his animation team, and the numerous cleaners who seemed to be everywhere all times of the day.
We had two rooms on the front of the hotel, I would recommend the back if possible as this overlooks the pool and is less noisy, we booked late so didn't get a choice. They were clean and roomy with excellent showers.
Food was plentiful and a huge choice, although the all-inclusive buffet style dining does attract a larger than normal of your 'well nourished' clientele.
The pool area was large but probably the hotel needs to try and address the large number of reserved chairs which don't get used. We witnessed chairs with towels on them not being used all day only for the owners to arrive around 4pm and take their towels! Possible some sort of ticketing system where the towels are removed if the chair is not used for say overs two hours?
Plenty of bar staff happy to dispense ridiculous measures of alcohol and reasonable evening entertainment program.More

A Huge Warm Hug of a Hotel
August 2015, our family holiday. 2 weeks all inclusive and what a great time we had! From the moment we checked in we were greated by extremely friendly staff who made it their mission to remember our names and treat us like old friends. Particularly Javier in the restaurant. He, along with Antonio, Lisette, and Angel are an absolute credit to Golden Hotels. All the staff work tirelessly and put 100% effort into their jobs. We paid for a family room (401) for 4. Great size, extremely clean and had a king sized bed and 2 separate single beds. The very large room overlooked the pool and benefited from the evening sunshine, perfect for a 5 o'clock G&T on the balcony. As you can expect the hotel was full, it is summer after all! So with that in mind you can expect to have to get up early to secure a sunbed. Doors open at 7:30 for you to do this, and there are signs up in the lobby advising residents of when towels are allowed to be placed. As this hotel offers board on an All Inclusive basis residents will choose to spend their days on the premises, so you can expect sunbeds to only become free later in the afternoon. Makes perfect sense to me. As for the food, where do I start? I'll start by telling you that when I got home I jumped straight on the scales and saw that I had gained 10 lbs! There was so much choice and all of it was delicious, something there for everyone. The spa is worth a visit too. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and PortAventura is a 25 minute walk. We will definitely be going back to this hotel as we have absolutely no reason why not to. A word to the wise...if you want a choice of sunbeds at 10:30am in the middle of summer, I suggest you rent a villa!More
We recently returned home from golden port & I really can't fault it, the restaurant had plenty of food choice, the pool was plenty big enough (we only went to the one pool as had non swimmers with us & the other pool is deep) there is also an indoor pool. sunbeds plenty although there is a lot of shade due to the amount of trees around the pool. Try to avoid tree area if you are prone to mosquito bites!!!! Ouch!! Staff were amazing, helped us with anything we asked. My little boy cut his head open whilst there & they gave him first aid straight away & rang us a taxi to get to hospital, all week they were asking how he was.
There is a TV in the bar area which does have sky sports so I had a happy husband too. You can book tickets to go to aquapolis at the hotel too & the staff are really helpful when booking trips etc. There is also a mini golf course & a football which my kids loved, they didn't take advantage of the kids club it looked busy & all kids seemed happy & entertained. Golden Port Salou ok but Sunbeds!
We have just returned from this hotel on 21/08/15 after 7 nights as a family myself wife and 17 year old son.
Some issues with the hotel which were perhaps down to us larger and more family orientated than expected but this is more clear in recent reviews but that is not a real negative.
The food was good on a half board basis as we all found plenty to eat at all sittings.
Elements of the hotel are dated and could do with a bit of TLC with things such as the roof to the side of the bar leaking during heavy rain, first time I've abandoned a game of pool due to waterlogged table!
The bed in the room was very hard and I could not get comfortable as I have arthritis though wife and son did sleep better.
My biggest issue as is often the case with big busy hotels was the swimming pool and lack of sunbeds with most being reserved from early morning, we are not a family that spends all day by the pool but does like to go for a swim later in the day but we only tried once and were then put off as it was so difficult to find anywhere to sit despite it being gone 4:00pm and it looked as though some had not been used all day.
It does say in the hotel directory that sunbeds cannot be reserved but nothing is done about it. the are life guards patrolling the pool area and it would not be difficult for them to move towels off a bed that has not been used for an hour and store the towels.
The hotel are also missing out on income because of this as if we had been able to find a bed we may have had lunch in the hotel rather than going out everyday and I am sure we are not the only people this applied to.
The resort is large but good fun Cambrils and Tarragona worth a visit, Barcelona is great and even got tickets to Barca v Atletico Bilbao which was the highlight for us all.
So all in all not a bad hotel and seeing the reviews a lot more people enjoyed it more than we did but not our cup of tea so won't be returning but feel the hotle must address the sunbed issue especially at busiest times.More

Ideal for families
Me and my boyfriend stayed at Golden Port for 10 days, it's great for families with constant activities going on specially for children. The staff are absolutely amazing and got us involved with the bingo which we would never have considered, they made it really fun and we really enjoyed the entertainment they had on every night.
The team are a great asset to this hotel they really make the trip worthwhile.
I wouldn't say the hotel is 4* quality but it's fine for the price you pay, food was lovely and pool area was nice, never had to fight over a sun bed there were plenty to go around and wasn't over crowded.
Spent most of our time in Barcelona as there isn't really much to do in Salou for couples...
