Hotel Belvedere

A great pool and buffet restaurant makes this place stand out from the crowd. Plus, the beach is just a stroll away.

The Belvedere comes with a big main pool. It scores highly on the food front, too, with a poolside snack bar and an international buffet restaurant. At night, the bar hosts bingo and live shows.

The centre of Salou is just a 10-minute walk down the road – you’ll find a sandy beach, and a host of shops, bars and restaurants. It’s the same time to PortAventura, Spain’s number one theme park.

hotel food dreadful and rude staff no holiday feel to it

worst hotel we have ever stayed in rude staff on reception and ignorant waiter/ we never felt welcomed or warmed to the hotel . the food was cold and un appetising. the maid constantly took our key out of our room causing an inconvenience by replacing it daily with the un helpful staff on reception ! you seriously need to address the attitude of your staff in all areas of your hotel as they are letting you down big time !!More

nice hotel but food not good

just arrived home this afternoon after 14 nights and had booked this hotel on strength of reviews, but have to say was disappointed with the food in general. myself and my party are quite plain eaters and i found although there was always a varied selection most nights there was nothing to suit our tastes. i found the food under cooked, breakfast the eggs and pancakes were not cooked properly and evening meals chips were raw most nights, i think that the catering was more suited to the international guests, one night in particular i walked round the buffet with my plate and arrived back at my table with an empty plate there was a lot of fish dishes and veal which i wont eat on principle, even on british nights there was not much to eat, not much selection for kids either, lifted fish fingers one night and were raw in middle. The hotel itself was very good clean and staff were pleasant, rooms although quite small were clean and suited our purposes pool area was nice and loved the spa area, cannot say much about the evening entertainment as went out most nights. No fridges in rooms but i brought an electric cool bag with me and used this just asked reception for an extra key card and left the electric running all day.More

Good and Bad but Great value for money and very clean

We stayed at the Hotel Belvedere for the first time in June for 14 nights – it was a special holiday for us as last year whilst I was on holiday in Salou I had my baby prematurely so we were taking her back for her 1st birthday. The hotel Belvedere came up at a very good price through holidayhypermarket website so instead of going Ryanair and booking our hotel separately it worked out better value to do a package holiday here. We had previously stayed in the Hotel Vil.la Romana its sister hotel. We had a great holiday but did prefer the sister hotel over the Belvedere we just found the room a bit on the small side, the hotel being in a noisier location (we heard discos into the early hours) and we missed having a fridge in the room to keep drinks and medication cool. However, for the price we paid we can’t really complain. I emailed the hotel in advance and asked for a pool view room our request was granted on checkin. Only 3 other people checked into the hotel when we did at approx. 11am so we only had to wait 10mins to be seen and whilst we waited we got a free drink which was a nice welcome touch. We where lucky our room was available early so we could go straight to it. Having the pool view room was great it meant when it got too hot for the little one round the pool we could take shade in the balcony without losing the being around the pool feeling. It also meant at night she could sleep and we could sit on the balcony and enjoy some of the shows that took place outside. We got free wifi in the room and on the balcony so that was great for facetiming people back at home. The food was very good – lots of choice and we especially enjoyed the themed nights – Italian, Spanish and Gala Night whilst we were there and the little gifts we got going into the restaurant. Antonio was great at welcomed get us and the little one (his fellow Catalan). We found on the first few days of the holiday there were no special dinners or cava at breakfast but after 5 days these then became the norm so perhaps we just came before the summer season started. The hotel was always very clean so credit due to its cleaners our room was always spotless. Also, big credit Mohammed (think that his name the chef that runs the omelette bar) he I thought did great given he was on his own most days doing – eggs, pancakes and omelettes. Another big plus for the hotel is its animation team – it was great to see them with the kids and involving the adults too in games etc. Although my baby was a little young to take part in things they always took the time to talk to her and get me or dad involved in the games. Lots of activities for the kids and a few for the adults enjoyed the fruit carving demo where everyone around the pool got a free fruit salad after it. We had a nice travel cot set up for our daughter which we fitted between our beds. She need to take medication which had to be kept cool whilst we stayed and reception where very helpful - they have a small fridge under the counter for such things which they allowed us to use. Towels, soap and shower gel where provided in the bathroom along with a hairdryer. A little annoying the hand soap in the dispenser was never replaced after it ran out – despite me taking the container out to show the cleaner it was empty it was then removed for 5 days no hand soap. Thankfully we brought our own bar of soap too. The location is very good shops, bars and the beach are all within a 5-10 minute walk. The TV in the room was also great as it had BBC1 and ITV amongst other channels. Would I stay here again yes if it was cheap as staff, cleanliness, pool, food where all good. However, I think if the Hotel Vil.la Romana was only £50 extra I’d go there as it was nice to eat outside sometimes, the rooms are bigger and there is a fridge in the rooms. Here’s a good tip if you want to save some luggage allowance – don’t bring a beach towel with you if you ask when you check-in at reception to have a beach/pool towel they for €10 deposit will provide you with a towel. The €10 is fully refundable as long as you give the towel back at the end of your stay. They will also give you a remote for the TV in your room for €20 again fully refundable when you give the remote back at the end of your staff. So many things I’m trying to remember if you have a baby the hotel also provide jars of baby food you can select one either fish or chicken in the evening and there is a fruit puree in the morning if your baby isn’t too keen on the buffet selection. Suggestion for the hotel please let rooms control their own air-conditioning it was simply too hot for us in our room. Also, copy the Hotel Vil.la Romana and have a book library where people can leave their holiday books and borrow ones whilst on holiday! Would recommend Tarragona and Barcelona for day trips from Salou and take the Plana Bus! Please hit vote button if you have found this review helpful.More

Not bad, not great.

As we arrived there was only 2 receptionists. Admittedly there was only 3 groups of people arriving but who knew it was going to take over half hour to check in? We got a free drink whilst we were waiting which was good. Once check in was finally over we managed to get straight into our room (around 11am ish). Sun beds were easy to get. I was managing to get decent Sun beds at 8am as well as midday some became available but there were stacks of beds where you could place them away from the pool. Rooms were standard. No fridge! Which frustrated me heavily so don't go expecting a fridge if you're half board. Sound proof in the rooms was non-existent. We were on the 3rd floor and could still hear a car pull up outside. Also can hear neighbours moving furniture at 6am!! Take ear plugs to save yourself the hassle. PortAventura & the main part of Salou/beach was a stone's throw away. Nice walk down to the beach but without a doubt you'll get harrassed by everyone and anyone. The food was ok. I'm a fussy eater so I managed to get a few meals but a couple of nights all I had was chips cos they made the whole buffet fish! Would've been nice to have some plain foods. The eggs and chicken was never cooked properly if it was done on demand. Finally not forgetting one of the waiters/managers named Miguel. I went to pay for our drinks holding my cash passport card in my hand clearly to pay with. Then he had a go at me because he pressed the cash button on the till! His attitude was disgusting and I wouldn't return to the hotel again due to the way he treated me. Awful customer service. Overall a good hotel but has several things to improve on. Including the attitude of staff. More

KatieAlner,

Good, very clean, family-friendly hotel

Travelled in July 2015 as a family of four with two children aged 16 and 12. Good, very clean, family-friendly hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Children-oriented water-based entertainment throughout the day (slide, water polo, foam party, etc.). All-age entertainment in the evenings (live music, etc). No problem getting sunbeds (in or out of shade) at any time of day - there was always a pile of spare ones at every point of every day we were down by the pool. Good varied and ample buffet breakfast. Only a 10 minute lazy walk to the beach, restaurants and shops, and a 15 minute walk in the opposite direction to PortAventura theme park. Hotel is suitable for families, couples, and for all ages. Rooms on the small size, "cosy", but sufficient for a family of four. Each room has its own balcony. But unless you plan to spend your entire stay in your room, they are good enough for what you would need. No fridge in room. You can get a safe key from reception (cost us €32 for 9 nights). TV with 50+ channels covering many languages (for UK visitors, it's BBC1, 2 and 3, and ITV1). Free secured luggage service if you have to wait after check out. In conclusion. We'd certainly go back to this hotel.More
