Lovely hotel with minor quibbles
I stayed at the Belvedere for two weeks at the beginning of the month and had a great time. The whole holiday was exactly what I was looking for and for the price it was ideal.
The hotel as a whole is kept very clean and tidy. That's one thing that you will notice all over. The cleaners do a brilliant job. The cleaners do start early but if you just leave your do not disturb sign on your door then they won't bother you. No matter what time we left our room, by the time we returned we returned to a clean room.
The pool area is a lovely but a little compact. The sun loungers are all very close together so it can be cosy. Coming towards the end of the season, it wasn't too much of an issue but I imagine that during peak season you would be getting very close to strangers. The pool also has a bar with extremely pleasant and friendly staff. Jesus and Hector were always smiling and happy to serve people.
The entertainment provided by the hotel was a mixture of comedy, music, general entertainment. It was all very typical hotel entertainment but the entertainment team, headed by Toni, always put in 110%. Toni was a brilliant entertainer and always tried to get to know as many people as he could; an absolute asset to the hotel.
There was a large selection of food served for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was more or the less same each morning but there was always plenty of choice. Dinner had similar themes but with variations each night to keep it different. Fridays is mostly fish with limited meat choices. The food was all great quality though on one Friday night the chicken hadn't been cooked properly and was still raw in the middle and given that it was mostly seafood it didn't leave much choice with regards to meat.
One downside we had was on the very last day of the holiday. We had paid extra for a late checkout since our flight wasn't until the evening and the Thomson website stated that this was until 6pm. On our last day. at about 12 noon I received a phone call from reception telling us that we should have checked out by now. The receptionist was quite stern and I had to speak over him to tell him that we had paid for late checkout. When he then checked he saw that this was the case and told us that we had the room until 5pm. I questioned this and he insisted that checkout was until 5pm. I advised him that the Thomson website stated 6pm (I checked this again to confirm) but he just kept telling me it was 5pm and said "5pm" three or four times over me until he hung up. This was the first bad customer service I'd received from the hotel in my whole stay. After an afternoon by the pool we returned to our room to see that our keys no longer worked. We went and spoke to a receptionist and told her and she get it all sorted (very friendly - the exact opposite to the receptionist from earlier) and said that it was because the keys automatically cut off at a certain time on your last day. Given that I'd already had a conversation with someone about this that day it would have been nice if they had sorted this instead of spending time arguing with me.
Overall, the hotel was great and I'm pleased that I chose it. The only two downsides were the undercooked chicken one night and the rude receptionist, other than that the hotel was ideal and all of the staff were as friendly and as accommodating as you could hope for.More

OK but has maintenance issues
For the second time in two years we were relocated to this hotel by the Vi-La Romana for one night. On the basis of two visits whilst my initial comments that the hotel is OK for a 3 star hotel, I would again comment on maintenance in so much as on this occasion we found we had no AC working in one of our rooms which resulted in a disturbed nights sleep due to the hot humid conditions. I also found that the single beds in our room were both narrow and uncomfortable. As said in my first report, food is fine, as is the decor and room appointment. General service provided by the hotel is reasonable.More
Myself and my wife stayed at this Hotel last week and enjoyed our stay apart from small issues .The hotel is very nice and kept clean. The staff on reception were very professional and friendly ,on arrival we asked could we have a Pool View room this was arranged with no problems. The food in the Hotel is very good and there are plenty of choice.I have been to many 4 Star Hotels that would not have such a a choice.
Some little things that the Hotel could improve on would be
