Great staff, great grub, great location

The check in was slow, a 40 minute queue, although the air con in the REALLY spacious lobby helped. We had emailed a fortnight prior to our stay asking for two rooms beside each other and were pleased to have that request met. Our rooms were on the third floor, road facing, there is an extra charge for pool view rooms, but we were content with the roadside as the sunshine did not heat up the room during the day. The safes were provided on a E10 deposit, which was refunded at checkout. The fridge normally had a charge, but the hotel waived that for all quests for the week we stayed due to the very hot weather – low 30s C. The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower. Hot water is a plenty and the shower has a powerful flow. If you need to avail of a bidet, well you have that option too. All rooms have balconies, although the first floor rooms have a larger one, so if you want more space or have a wheelchair user, the first floor is the room to ask for. WiFi was strong in the lobby and restaurant, although the further up the floors you went the signal got weaker and connection was lost at times. Two lifts served the hotel floors and had enough room for 6 people, or 4 with cases. There was a great selection of food at both breakfast and dinner (we were half-board) and I could not fault the quality, it seems that most tastes were catered for; vegetarian options were readily available throughout the week, though I paid more attention to the meat dishes at dinner. These included pork, chicken, turkey, ham, veal, rabbit – yip, rabbit and various seafood options, including prawns, mussels, hake, cod, with trout and salmon also presented. The desserts were too numerous to mention, but it was hard on a couple of evenings to choose something to my taste, although the quality was really good. ALL drinks at dinner have to be paid for on leaving the restaurant after your meal; you get a docket on entering and your server details your drinks, we are non-drinkers, and chose 2 x 1litre bottles of water, more than enough for the four of us at a cost each meal time of E4.80. Soft drinks, wine and beers cost more again. The pool area opens at 0900hrs, which means that no one can gain access beforehand to reserve loungers and it closes down again at around 1900hrs. Each morning there was a crew of 4 employees brushing and hosing down the complete pool area before the start of the new day. I am not bothered with poolside, but plenty of folk seemed to be well satisfied with it. There were plenty of activities happening there, judging by all the certificates that were handed out at the prior to the evening entertainment. The hotel is situated close to bus stops and a 10 minute walk from the beach. We had a three day pass to Portaventura and walked there each day, it took about 20 minutes to get to the park from the hotel, although there is a local bus stop at the Royal hotel – left of the main entrance, the tourist train has a stop there and if you are flush, taxis are aplenty; bikes are available for hire from this hotel too. The Tourist Information office is just around the corner too. Overall we had a really good stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We always had positive interactions at reception, maid service and at meal times; this really added to the stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a stay.More

Met our requirements

I came with my family from 20th July to 29th July and had booked 2 interconnecting rooms. Firs impression was very good friendly Reception staff and lovely Hotel lounge where we spent a lot time just relaxing. However the Pool is small for the size of the Hotel. Nevertheless there is always sun at the Pool. And Hotel organises Water Volleyball every other day. We always got 5 Sun beds. There are activities taking place all the time and it is nice to join in for a laugh. i.e. Darts, Shooting, Table Tennis, French Ball game etc. The room sizes are a bit on the small size and with 3 beds in a room there is hardly any walking space. Otherwise Hotel is very clean, nicely decorated and Bed sheets are changed every other day. The Wifi is free and excellent and I used it for constant stream of What's App pictures. And the Hot water in the shower and pressure is excellent. We were a family of 5 Vegetarians and for the first time in spain I found a Hotel which had a Vegi menu as standard. The Chef was very good and if you did not like the menu he was happy to cook an alternative. So for the First time in spain we really enjoyed our food not to mention the Chocolate Fountain, Sweet trolley and show cooking of Hot Buns and Croissants. Entertainment was good. Very close to everything. Straight walk to the Beach in 5 mins. Close to Shops, Tourist Information office and Pubs.More

BawaOBawa,

Great position - but average hotel

Stayed between 20-30 July 2016 in a room on 2nd floor overlooking the pool. Agree with others who have said the rooms are very small (a common problem in Salou). There was 4 of us in our room - myself, my husband and our 2 boys age 9&10. If you were sat on the end of the bed nobody could get past. Floor was dirty too. Food in the hotel was ok. I'm vegetarian and could find something to eat each day. My youngest son is fussy and lived off chips and bread rolls! We hired a car at the beginning of our stay and managed to find local on street parking. Entertainment is ok. High points: I enjoyed the aqua aerobics (only once while we were there) and they had a pool party with DJ and dry ice which was great. Reception area is beautiful and the position of the hotel is great. About 10-15 min walk to Port Aventura and 5-10 min walk to the beach and bars. It's also very convenient for the wally trolley and Bus Plana stop outside the lazy wave pub (about 2 min walk) for trips to Barcelona etc.More

Great place to have a break

I have just returned from 5 nights at the H10 Vintage Salou. Travelled alone and was made welcome on arrival. Room was perfect and clearly recently refurbished. Bathroom was great and it was one of the best showers I have ever had on holiday. Loved the fact that you couldn't play the sunbed game. I had breakfast every morning and went out at 9 am when the doors opened. I had the same sunbed every day which was perfect. The food was mixed but always managed to find something. I enjoyed a wee walk in to town each evening and the hussle and bussle of Salou but felt far enough away. A really enjoyable break at a nice hotel. More

Stay away

If for any mysterious reason you have decided to go on holiday in Salou (the Blackpool of spain), do yourself a favour and don't spend your holiday money on this 2-3 star hotel with a nice reception. For the following reasons: Tried to get in touch with them prior to my reservation to make sure it s a quiet room(got scared by other reviews) after the 5th time calling i managed to speak to someone who almost spoke english and who assured me it will be quiet. At the moment, our room is facing the pool and behind the pool there's a very busy street. I have been falling asleep with the sound of high speed motorbikes!! The toilet in the room was dirty, toilet seat and inside. room is very small barely have space to pass by. Kettle costs! This is outrageous for a 4star hotel, having to pay 15euros for a kettle! The pool is way to small for the size of the hotel and we never get space to sit there. Breakfast is quite basic, juice so bad that people are squeezing their own. Coffee bad also. Overall it's a hotel that maybe was 4stars 50 years ago but today would barely get2. We have 4 days left here and counting.More
