This hotel has fun written all over it. And not just for kids, for grown-ups, too. Take its location. Set at the top end of Salou, there are shops, restaurants and bars just a five-minute stroll away. The beach is handy, too – just ten minutes from the door. And the Costa Dorada’s star attraction, Portaventura theme park, is only a short bus ride away.
As the Avenida Suites is part of our Familyclub range, we’re talking Kidzone clubs, a drop-in den and playgrounds with chunky slides. Childrens’ buffets dish up all their favourite eats at mealtimes, too. And to make things easy for mums and dads, there’s a mini-market selling baby food, so you don’t have to bring them with you.
The Avenida lays on loads for adults, too. Think family-focused games and activities during the day, like aqua-aerobics, sports contests and skittles. And the action continues into the evenings. Most nights kick off with happy hours at the bar, before mini-discos for the little ones followed by cabaret shows and live music.
Of course, most summer family holidays tend to focus on the pool. Set into terraces flanked by pine trees and rockeries, the main one here has a shallow area that wends its way under a wooden bridge before morphing into a deeper section. Nearby is a separate children’s splash pool. And if you want some me-time, slip into the indoor pool or one of the hot tubs.
As for the apartments, they’re equipped with all the ingredients for a comfy family break – satellite TVs, balconies and kitchenettes. There are duplex apartments available, too, each with a twin bedroom and extra bathroom. All are bright and fresh, painted in pastel colours and decked out with modern furnishings.

Just returned from a week at the golden Avenida, great hotel 4 kids, though ours wur a it young(1&2) to join in with much. Lots of young families, we upgraded to half board for #180 for 6 dys, food was excellent, and snacks at bar wur not 2 bad!... more on this review
