An introduction to Hotel El Paso
With its terracotta roof tiles and sugar-cube buildings, the Hotel El Paso brings a taste of Mexico to the gates of Portaventura. Think two-storey haciendas that come with timber-framed balconies, all clustered around a pool scene straight out of a Mexican beach resort.
Talking of pool areas, this one takes some beating. There are two pools to choose from. But it's the main pool that's particularly impressive. Lake-sized and set in a roomy terrace, its centrepiece is a sunken pirate galleon complete with crows nest and water pumps. Sunbeds, parasols and a whirlpool bath complete the picture.
Inside, the Mexican theme continues. Take the hallway that leads to the bar. A stairway of terracotta and green tiles winds past large, rustic pots and tiny curved balconies. And the lounge is cosy with a wood-beamed ceiling.
As for the bedrooms, they're kitted out in true Latino style. Cue tiled floors, French doors and chunky wood furniture. And traditional touches like woven Mexican textiles and Aztec-style art on the walls complete the picture.
Food-wise, you're in for a treat here. The hotel's Merida restaurant, with its open kitchen, cooks your dinner while you watch. Plus there's the Tex-Mex flavours of El Coyote. And the Club Maya poolside restaurant is perfect for lunchtime snacks. It's fair to say, you'll have a real taste of Mexico here.

We have just returned, hotel staff and room was fantastic, loved the park, thankyou for the review, we read before we went to take a travel kettel for the room.
