The SunClub Apartments are in a sleepy part of Cap Salou. The beach is a couple of minutes’ walk away, and you'll find a handful of restaurants in the streets around the apartments. There’s a supermarket onsite for stocking up on essentials, and regular buses run into the heart of Salou from the stop outside. The trip takes around 10 minutes.
Location aside, the pool is the SunClub’s focal point. It’s a kidney-shaped number that’s set into a sun terrace. There’s a kids’ pool too, and you can look over the whole lot from the restaurant and bar’s al fresco dining area.
As for the rooms, they come in 1 or 2-bedroom options, and are all set up for self-catering. You get a small fridge that’s got a freezer section for ice. Plus, if you book a sea-view room, you can see the Mediterranean from your balcony.

Grandkids had a great time
We stayed here from 26 Oct to 2nd Nov. and had a great time. We had a family suite which consisted of two bedrooms - one good sized room with a double and one slightly smaller with bunk beds (which the grandkids loved) and a single bed - both had plenty of wardrobe space, a decent sized bathroom and a reasonably sized kitchen/dining area, The suite was cleaned daily and towels replaced every other day. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was varied, well prepared and good value for money. The kids had great fun in the splash pool and playing football on the mini pitch. Being the last week of the season there was no Kids Club but the girl who ran the evening entertainment worked extremely hard to keep things fresh and interesting! As other people have said, Cap Salou was pretty well closed. But with bus stops either right outside or a few yards away around the corner and a frequent bus service it was easy to get out and about visiting Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda ( get a bus card and each journey costs just over €1 per person). We had a brilliant time here.More

Stayed October 15th -29th
After reading previous reviews we did not know really what to expect Cap salou is very hilly so not for people who have mobility issues we also found that most of cap salou had closed down as it was classed as low season. Main salou was a 20 min walk but to be honest we used the buses and the land train as they all stopped right out side the hotel invest in a t10 card as you get 10 trips for 11.90 euros. We was given room 307 which looked out to sea and main salou and the kids pool the room was clean and tidy and the bins emptied every day and fresh towels where left everyday and general cleaning bedding changed frequent too.cooking facilities where pretty basic with a two ring hob and microwave and fridge. The pool was freezing as it didn't get sun on it till 2pm but that didn't stop the boys from being in the pool as some days we was hitting 30 degrees yes even in October. The staff at the Sunclub where brilliant nothing was never too much trouble always polite and friendly. and that's thanks to Rosyland,Paul,Alfonso,Paula,Sophie, and the rest of the Sunclub team The food at the hotel was excellent and reasonably priced if something wasn't on the menu they would do there best to make it for the kids or us adults. The entertainer Alarna was brilliant with the kids and adults too. So after having been and reading all the comments other people have put here is my view you are never going to please anyone and what one person likes another may not would i go back Yes i would the only thing i would do different is i would like to see the resort in season as it was a little quiet still people about though. we had a brilliant time and are looking to go back next year.More

Nice for the price
We stayed here for two nights in October for around £60 for a family of 4. Great value for money, the room was clean with a good view overlooking the sea and mountains. The girls on reception were helpful and the checkin was quick. Breakfast was basic and ok but i would recommend going in to Salou for a better breakfast for around 5 euros. Only complaint is the beds were a bit hard!! All in all a good budget hotel with no frills.More
Through my eyes
Hi my name is Dom and I was the Thomson rep this year S13 @t the SunClub. I no longer work for Thomson and have returned back to the UK, time to hang up the clipboard so I thought id give my review of working in this hotel and I will be honest (by the way thanks for the comments its very humbling and glad I helped you enjoy your stay) it was my first time in costa durada this year. Hotel Its not a Hilton or a marriot its not a branded hotel either its owned by one person. The hotel is clean, in good condition, comfortable, Spacious rooms, every thing you come to expect from a 3 star property (its a 3 star to Thomson and brochures state this as this official rating 4 star) The kitchens are a bit small and basic but again its clean and practical (if you want a kitchen like at home get a villa). You dont get electric kettles (not in the brochure either) but you get one for the hob in your room my opp as a yorkshire lad is use it but if you want an electric kettle you can hire one Beds are comfortable all mattresses were changed in August because of feedback. TV is old and dated in rooms ( possibility of new plasma screens been introduced for s14 ) and only one English channel sky news !! now I dont understand why Brits and Irish want to watch corrie ect when on holiday but you do so it would be good for extra channels to be added. Book a sea view the views are FABULOUS ! Pool views are good too but hight of summer you get noise from the entertainment till midnight on the dot ! Noise you can get noise from fellow guests that seem to think its perfectly fine to scrape a chair across there floor at 3am ! But the hotel put up signs around hotel and personally I saw a reduction in these complaints All said and done would I book here YES would I send my mates here YES. Pool area yes it is shaded until about noon but then it is brilliant there is 2 pools a big one and a fantastic kids splash area which is perfect for toddlers and younger kids. Sunbeds (The pain of my summer) like anywhere there is a crazy dash for them in a morning and people reserve sunbeds and dissapear till whenever this isnt fair the hotel asks guests not to do this but it falls on deaf ears!! the only way to sort this is by employing a pool attendant to remove towels after 15 min. Now this will never happen as it costs too much to employ some one to do this aprox 15000 euros !! and the costs for this will only be added else where or the other option could be to pay for a sunbed it will pay for the staff member to be employed and maybe even get half of it back at end of holiday its only an idea calm down and would have to be in the brochure when you book so you would know before hand. Sunbathing terrace on 5th floor for adults only is fantastic !! Cleanliness the hotel rooms are spotless and the cleaners have all worked there for a long time and very proud of the hotel and there work so I will let you make your own assumption on that one The entertainment is done by the hotels own entertainer who dose an array of events daytime and night its not amazing but keeps you occupied. This year and for the past few years the entertainer is called Brian and he is very good at his job he has a set timetable but always works it around you the guests what's the point in him doing a kids session and no one turns up so he actively changes this which I feel is very good and his magic show is brilliant. On a personal note we didnt see eye to eye but I cant knock him at his job! On a night the acts start about 10 pm they are outside acts that are not amazing but can be good amazing even after a few drinks. food and drink in the hotel is at a reasonable price and is of good quality too the hotel cheff is from the uk and uses uk products too. I often eat in the hotel on my day off my fave was steak and Guinness pie!! (yummy)The bar prices again reasonable for a hotel some of the staff can come across as a bit robotic and this year there was no BIG personality but the ladies and guys who do work there are fantastic at there jobs and very professional and work hard to ensure you get your drinks but the problem at times can be everyone turns up at once and its mad for 30 min and then dead for 30 min and you can never tell when they will be busy making it impossible to have extra staff at busy times as rest of time they would have no work to do but however an extra pair of hands would be great. There is no kids club noor is it advertised it is advertised perfect in my opinion and at the end of the day if you want all sinning and dancing and thomson the dog ect book a hotel that clearly offers that in a brochure please dont just expect it same can be said for all hotels world wide. EURO machines and pool tables great for the kids but put them on a daily limit as they will bleed you dry !! Reception and staff in the hotel in general have worked there for a long time and are very passionate about the hotel and are a credit to the owner. Yes there is a few bad eggs that can be a bit rude and blunt but if someone was swearing at you and carrying on about stupid things acting like they have booked the ritz and paid for a premier inn would you go out of your way to help them? Talk and treat people how you want to be spoken to at the end of the day manners cost nothing. Location The location of the hotel is fantastic if you want a quiet family orientated resort with a low key night life but want to travel 10 min max by bus into salou or 5 min max to La pineda. Cap salou has a few bars and restaurants I have my favourites and believe it or not I actually favour the ones I got the least discount in !!! They are big hills in Cap Salou if you have Mobility problems I would consider this my nan has COPD and even thou she didn't come to resort she would NOT have been able to walk about so please remember this. The bus stop is located outside the hotel and there is one every 10-15 min to both destinations. Also take advantage of the bus card its aprox 2.50 euro per person cash on the bus or if you get a pass 1.14 euro !! massive saving you can get these from reception. Also you have the mini train 3.50 per person inc children or 10-13 euro in a taxi to Salou or 6-9 euro to La pinada. Beaches its about a 5 min walk to the closest beach calla font but i personally don't like it I like Playa largo about 10 min walk ask reception or the rep. Things to do ! porterventura is brilliant but can be busy at times my favourite waterpark is Aquapolis with the dolphin show too included. Tarogona is the main City about 20 min away by bus and has some amazing architecture and Roman ruins worth a gander but Cambrils is 20 min away and its the port and is stunning also the shops are good there too independent shops well worth an afternoon out. Bonavista market on a Sunday is interesting but not amazing catch the local bus there ask reception or rep for the bus time table. Thomson rep service well it depends on the person. My advice is at least pop to the welcome meeting as if there any good they will really be good with local info and go through it in depth as cap salou is a tricky one if you dont know how to get about you really loose out. Also now a days reps arnt just targeted on trips but the service the give to customers via the questionnaire scores you fill in on the plane. If they sell you bonavista market excursion they seriously do not have your best interest at heart hence i never sold one all summer and sent you all on the public bus you will understand why when you see the price difference. If they do try sell it dont give them the time of day. All in all to sum it up its a fantastic hotel that offers and is exactly as it is in brochure, Good value and at the end of the day you get what you pay for. On a personal note I love costa dorada and cap salou and will be going to the hotel myself on holiday in 2014 even thou its not perfect and has its faults its a great hotel. A big thank you to all the staff in the hotel who welcomed me to there little family and I really miss working with you all. And when I come back on holiday we will do one more pool party BBQ lolMore
