Travelling: Myself, husband, 12 year old son & father.
Holidayed at The CalaD'or Playa in Majorca in 2013 & 14 but booked too late to get in this year so looked for something similar. We read reviews about Sunlcub & it sounded good. What a disappointment. It is on Cap Salou where there is nothing to do, just a handful of eateries which food isn't very good, no shops. Spent most of holiday getting taxis or buses to get anywhere. Salou itself along with Cambrills is like Blackpool, only Tarragona was worth a visit. The apartments - well where do I start, the only nice thing is that the rooms are big & kept clean (the cleaning staff were the only pleasant staff). The pool area is too small & I've never stayed anywhere, where the pool doesn't open til 10am & closes by 7pm. The dining area was like a school canteen where you had to queue for your drinks & food (which wasn't good at all). The bar staff were abrupt especially Rosalind. We ate in the on site restaurant twice & both times they got our orders wrong. The bar closed at midnight on the dot. We requested 2 rooms next to each other on a high floor but got 1 on the 2nd floor & 1 on the ground floor which was by the bar/games area & other peoples kids were feral running riot up & down the corridors, the slightly older kids (10-14 years aprox) sat outside the front of building into early hours being loud & smoking so my son did not make any friends. We did however get moved to floor 5 on the third day but we had to downgrade from pool view to no view. The highlight of the holiday was my husband, son & father went to a Barcalona footy game & they saw Messi score!! There was a small supermarket right outside the apts & antoher small one around the corner but the nearest hypermarket was in Tarrogona. We did manage to walk into Salou a couple of times but wasn't always possible as my father is getting on a bit. We found a Spanish owned restaurant in Salou called El Abuelo which wasn't cheap but the food was by far the best we had during our stay. Where was the entertainment?? I'm used to there being organised activities during the day to get the holidaymakers together but there was none of this & the kids entertainment was for toddlers only & the evening entertainment was very poor (karaoke is not my idea of entertainment). We ended up using the hotel next door which was slightly better. Understandably we will NOT come to Salou again & I would not recommend these apts to anyone I know.More

We stayed in the Sunclub from 7th August 2015 to 21st August 2015. We stayed here 3 years ago also and not much has changed since then! Housekeeping staff are a credit to the hotel, so friendly and can't do enough for you and the accommodation is spotless also the pool area is great but it goes downhill from here to be honest. Bar/food area totally understaffed at all times. Constant queues for food and drink with not the most pleasant and undertrained barstaff! I can count on one hand over the 2 weeks we were there I saw staff clearing tables, this was left for you to do yourself. One queue and one person serving for food and drink is not acceptable, just to get a bottle of water you would have to queue behind families ordering dinners etc. The entertainment is the same tired entertainment that was on 3 years ago even the kids got bored of it! Bar/food area and entertainment needs a complete overhaul if I was to consider ever staying here again!More
The hotel reception I found helpful. One particular chap who I think was maintenance chief was spot on and any problems was quick to help and resolve.
Rooms very basic and not really for self catering We felt but you do have a cooker, microwave, fridge and a kettle that heats on the electric hob, very old fashioned. Cleaners were brilliant and very polite, even though some did not understand English very well, always had a smile and felt they understood in the end our needs.
Every morning without fail we would hear the opposite hotel, which was very loud, and because pool area does not get the sun till midday if you fancied relaxing in your apartment, no chance ðð¢ð¢ð¢
Pool was very small but clean and the life guard on duty appeared to bring its dullness to life. Pool area was ok.
Bar area was cheap looking with plastic chairs and tables and felt more 3* than 4*. Had around 2 nights at the hotel and did enjoy the bingo and pop quiz although the people who won were clearly cheating and googled the answers! Takes the fun out of it tbh
Wifi prices were ridiculous....in this day and age it's a must for kids and parents! Haha. Luckily if you sat close to the edge, near the hotel behind, you could pick theres up for free ðð¹ðð
Lots of places to eat and some very nice restaurants! Not much else to do where we were but really nice beaches in Cap Salou that were in walking distance but maybe short bus ride back at the end of a long, hot, relaxing day ðð»ðºð·a really great water park and theme park which is a must
Salou not that far away but felt was very very busy so was nice to be a bit out of it and having the choice to pop in when wanting a noisier night.
All in all you get what you pay for and we did have a good two weeks holiday. More
Just back from two weeks staying in the Sun Club, and wouldn't rave about it but it's not the worst. It did start off bad though, woke up after our first night to find the apartment flooded, turns out the fridge defrosted over night...but had to figure that out myself as maintenance disappeared. There was a few other issues with the apartment but they did sort it out quickly after we advised reception. The pool is lovely but can get a bit crowded, there is definitely enough Sun beds but only a few umbrellas. The bar area needs an overhaul to update it and so does the entertainment but Eddie the entertainer is very nice. Food in bar is very basic and the queues to order is very annoying on occasion as tgere can only be a single person working the bar area at most times. The apartments themselves are clean and the cleaning staff are very friendly. The buses are really easy to use and I would recommend getting a bus card as it is much cheaper in the long run. The area itself is very quiet and there are steep hills to the beach area so just be careful but the beach is a really nice cove. I would recommend Route 66 and Smugglers for food in Cap Salou but smugglers is slow so don't be in a rush if you go there.
***Side note: if you need to go to the medical centre and you get a taxi there then make sure you get a receipt as they will deduct this from the cost of seeing the doctor. The rep didn't advise us of this when we went to the medical centre. There is two medical centres also and only one has a x-ray machine so make sure you go to the right one. More

Never again !!!!
Never really had a good holiday within the apartment the positives were good food, Eddie the entertainer was excellent At night, the entertainment was ok, the pool was small but ok and clean, there was a shop directly on the apartment block with soso customer satisfaction, the negatives are the apartments are tired looking with a plug socket loose, the shower tap was very loose, we never had our sheets changed for the whole 2 weeks we were there, at one point we had to complain that the towels were not changed along with the cleaning not completed 100 percent, the staff could of smiled more or never at all, 25 euros a week for wifi on one mobile when the hotel next door were free what a RIP off, the kids were left to run amock at night time while there parents were drinking standing on pool tables and left alone to do what they wanted, the hotel was predomonantley full of Irish sorry if I wanted to go to Ireland I would of done, Don't expect to go to sleep until at least 12.30 to 1pm as neighbouring hotels don't finish till this time, the apartments were disappointing as they need modernising or at least updating, I popped into the H10 next door to see there facilities and was impressed with what I saw and have booked this via Thomas Cook for next year as we liked salou as a whole and can say this is a deffinant 4 star hotel and felt sun club to be a 2 star not even the air con worked properly as it is a system where the whole hotel runs off and looks very dated overall if your looking for a cheap base for salou then the above maybe overlooked but then you can be your own judge hope this helpsMore
