Riu Monica , ideal for the older generation
We spent 12 pleasant days here, it is hard to find fault , the rooms are comfortable & clean, the public area spacious & well appointed . The food was much to my liking , plenty of fish & unusual items , but also enough for more conservative tastes. On that point , we noted that most of the guests were mature if not elderly . It is not a hotel for the wild reveller or even the young at heart. But it is quiet & relaxing. Don't bother with the "Spanish Restaurant" the food is nothing special , better in the main restaurant.More

Relaxing week at the Hotel Riu Monica.
Having returned from this hotel one week ago we felt we had to say how impressed we were which made our stay enjoyable. The staff were always helpful and the rooms excellent and kept spotless. The restaurant food was good with plenty of hot or cold choice at breakfast and evening time.Outside around the pool area there were plenty of sun beds spare at any time of the day. Across the road there was a supermarket and bars which we used at times. Our only grumble was that all guest must pay to use the safe in the rooms which we feel should be free in a 4* hotel. We will certainly use this hotel again.. esgraMore
Amazing is all we can say! What a beautiful hotel.
The Riu Monica is a beautiful hotel and to a high standard. Staff were truly amazing, caring and looked after us so well. Maria Jose and Javier were wonderful on Reception! Our room was upgraded (and rather lovely and spacious) and we had stunning views of the sea. The Manager at the Riu made sure we were happy and was always around either in Reception or in the Restaurant ensuring all was running smoothly. A real gentleman. Rooms were spotlessly clean, and the food was in plentiful and of high quality, with so much choice! Thank you all to Riu for making our holiday. We will be back! L and M. Evans - stayed from 1st to 11th June.More
Far above expectations
The Riu Monica is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and surpassed all expectations I had of a Spanish hotel. The food was by far the best aspect, it was absolutely delicious every single night! The room was a good size with a very spacious shower and balcony with sea views. All staff were very helpful and we never had any problems with the waiting staff as mentioned in previous reviews. The location is perfect, with restaurants, bars and a convenience shop the other side of the road. Will definitely be returning.More
This hotel has been recently refurbished, and it shows. The reception area is spacious and welcoming, as was our room. I've stayed in 'luxury' rooms in England that were smaller. The room had a large bed, a TV with a wide selection of channels, a fridge and a walk in shower. The Wi - Fi covered the whole complex and also the bars over the road. Situated on the beach, and with a small but adequate pool, about 5 minutes walk from the town centre, we were told that many people come back here repeatedly, which I didn't believe, until I spoke to several guests who had been here before. The food was a little un - imaginative, but more than adequate. We didn't sample the hotel entertainment which seemed a little basic, but there again, we are not the sort of people to hang about in the hotel. Recommended. Nerja itself is a small, pretty town, and was worth visiting for the week we were here.More
