The Florida hotel is very well situated overlooking the promenade in the centre of Fuengirola our superior room on the 9th floor has spectacular views, unfortunately the room it's self was very dated and tiered looking, one of the beds had a stain which looked like blood on the front of the base ( very off-putting) as we were only there for a short time we decided not to ask for a change of room, The staff are all very friendly some being known to us previously from the sister hotels The Angela ant The Yaramar. We were on Breakfast only board and found the choice very good. The evening we stayed in the hotel the cabaret in the bar area was very good although I would say suited to and older clientele, my friend and I are mid fifties and we were by far the youngest there!! The hotel does have a feel of being in Gods waiting room!!!! We never went to the pool as the oldies would have their sunbeds reserved at the crack of dawn, whether they were using them or not, so we could never one, we went to the beach which is fantastic it has just won the best beach in the Costa del sol. To sum up a very well situated hotel ok for a short break if you just use it as a base to socialise and dine out in the many good restaurants in Fuengirola.More

Another Enoyable Holidayat Spa.
We have been coming to this hotel since 2007 and May 2015 marked our 8th holiday at this excellent hotel. We travelled by Aer Lingus from Belfast to Malaga. We took the train from the airport (2.70 euro single). There is a train every 20 minutes. If you don't feel like walking from the station to the hotel the taxi fare is 7 euros. Over the years this hotel has maintained its high standards and all credit must go to the excellent staff. The standard of food was very acceptable with plenty of choice for both breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in an ideal location on the sea front and is within easy walking distance from both the bus and railway stations. We plan to return in September 2015.More

Full marks again
This was our second visit to this hotel and it did not disappoint. Our request for the same room was granted. It gave us a wonderful view over the harbour. We found there was plenty of choice for food at both breakfast and . The staff as usual were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was entertainment every night, not always to our taste but it always coincide with 2 drinks for the price of 1. In Fuengirola itself we did find a number of places that we have frequented over the years have gone. Our favourite restaurant "Oscars" has survived but did not seem to be as busy as it used to be. The recession seems to have hit many restaurants here. We also noticed more people begging although they did not hassle you for money. A sad reflection on Spain's financial troubles. Our weather was not brilliant for April but this did not detract from another enjoyable stay at the Florida Spa.More

Home from Home in the sunshine
We have just returned from Florida Spa and had the unfortunate circumstance of my husband being taken to hospital. However the hotel did everything it could to make our experience as excellent as possible. The hotel just continues to improve and the staff, who excel themselves with caring and concern for their guests is something 'special' that is found at this hotel. From Antonio and his amazing bar and entertainment, to Maria the Restaurant Manager, the very helpful Reception you just cannot fault this hotel. We hope to return to experience once again a Hotel that cares about it's guests, Is situated in an excellent position across the road from the beach, near to the bus station and all amenities. We wish them a good summer season.More

food disappointing 3* for me
I'd read the reviews so expected it to be full of senior citizens, it was but we wanted to explore the bars of Fungi which are open til 1 or 2am ish. We didn't stay in for the entertainment programme which included bingo and a cheesy looking duo. It's a nice looking hotel with huge reception & comfy seating areas. We had a nice sized room & bathroom with fully tiled walk-in shower & toiletries (the toilet flush was really loud so we avoided using during the night)with plenty of wardrobe/drawer space.Kettle & fridge in the room no ice box or glassware though. No clip-top hangers in the w/d on arrival but the maid left some for us. I liked the policy of requesting your sheets changed(leave a card on the bed) and put towels in shower if you want them changed. The pool/sunbeds were full most days and the snack bar was good. Reception were helpful when we asked for bus timetables. Didn't see anyone in the bar or 'pub' at all.One gripe was the loud conversations held whilst waiting for the lift outside our room at 8am, I'm on holiday and like a lay in !! The pool area is the only outside space so a shame it shut at 6pm. Breakfast was just ok, awful bacon and egg was hit and miss. Evening meal - the bad bits were bland tough meat, awful gravy, rubbery carrots, awful boiled spuds and tasteless mashed potatoes that wouldn't drop off the serving spoon. Soup ok but bread rolls were rock hard every day. The nice bits were the salad bar, fresh fruit & nicely cooked fish, chips were good. Deserts were same each day with a large dish of 'dream topping', There were 3 types of ice-cream daily & can help yourself to it. A couple of cheeses each day & one type of biscuit. We ate out quite a few times as hubby couldn't face it every day. Wifi good, if you are staying for more then a week you will need a new p/w on your 2nd week. on our 2nd week we experienced slow connections and to sign in every time we wanted to use it. we were on 11th floor and it was same connection issue on pool area.Hotel is on promenade & near bus station. Now a little about the resort - Benalmadena is lovely, esp the marina, you can go on the bus for 1.65 Euro takes 30mins. Mijas Pueblo is a beautiful immaculate place with panoramic views & cobbled streets bus 1.55 Euros takes 25mins. Parts of the Fungi prom are scruffy but I would go back there. We went to Dylans bar/Britannia pub on fish alley, Cappucinos near the Stella Maris Apts, their brekkie was fab. The marina is nice & the bars/eateries are same price as town so don't be put off going, Harbour Lights on the marina do a nice brekkie. Avge price of pint is E3 & wine similar. There are a few beggars/homeless folk in fungi so be prepared if you are out and about in resort.More
