  • 3 swimming pools
  • Modern, spacious apartments

A great swimming scene and a spa are just part of the package on offer at the Myramar Fuengirola Hotel and Apartments.
There’s a lot going on at the Myramar Fuengirola, formerly called the Myramar Castle Beach Apartments. During the summer, a huge outdoor swimming pool is the setting for games and competitions and there’s live music and cabaret to enjoy in the evenings. In the winter, when the outdoor pool is closed, there’s a heated indoor pool to relax by.

The hotel itself is made up of a series of spacious one-bedroom apartments with lounge areas and kitchenettes. Décor-wise, things are smart but homely, with pale yellow walls and dark wooden furniture the norm. All the apartments come with air-conditioning, satellite TVs and balconies, too.

When it comes to mealtimes, the hotel’s main restaurant puts on buffets for breakfast and dinner. As well as global favourites, you’ll find a good selection of traditional Andalucian dishes. Elsewhere, the poolside snack bar is a great option for lunch.

Your guide to Fuengirola, Costa Del Sol

“Half way between Torremolinos and Marbella, both in location and atmosphere, Fuengirola is filled with fun.”

Fuengirola’s main attraction is its five miles of Blue Flag beaches, stretching either side of the busy marina. Edged by spacious promenade and lined with palm trees and flower beds, it’s the perfect spot for some serious sun time. And then there’s the restaurants. Serving everything from traditional Spanish to English, you’re bound to find something that tickles your tastebuds.

Generally Fuengirola caters for those who want to soak up the sun and play watersports, rather than immersing themselves in heaps of local history and culture. But there are a few sights to see with the Moorish Castillo de Sohail featuring high on the hit list. And for a family outing there’s the Fuengirola zoo where, amongst other things, you can watch crocodiles basking on the simulated shores of the Nile and Sumatra tigers bathing beside a recreated Angkor temple.

Shopping-wise, Fuengirola will keep most bargain hunters busy. And on Tuesdays you can browse the bustling street market on the Avenida Jesus Santos Rien - the biggest you’ll find anywhere in this part of Spain. If you do crave a little more Andalucian atmosphere, Los Boliches, Fuengirola’s neighbour, still retains some of its fishing village characteristics.

Alternatively, head inland to the classic ‘pueblo blanco’ of Mijas, hire a donkey taxi and take a tour of the narrow, cobbled streets. Fuengirola’s nightlife is low key compared to Torremolinos, although there are plenty of lively bars. And if you fancy a flutter, there’s always the late night horse racing at the Hipodromo del Costa Del Sol near Mijas, which takes place every Saturday throughout the summer. If you’re the betting sort, Fuengirola’s a winner every time.
