Very good hotel
Overall I was very happy with this hotel, Obviously there are good points and bad points to every hotel. Good points : Firstly, I see lots of people have complained about the colour of the hotel. It is grey which is very modern and clean. Personally I think grey is much much better than the dirty looking yellow which is popular for hotels!! The hotel room was clean, tidy and had very big bed. The aircon was brilliant. Location wise - perfect! Right on the front Food was good, there was always plenty to choose from! The food wasn't alway hot but what do you expect from a buffet!! The tapas corner was my fav!! The made to order pancakes at breakfast were perfect!!! Hotel was clean throughout and some staff were very friendly and helpful. I did personally see staff taking towels off sunbeds that had been 'reserved' by selfish people!!! This I loved to watched especially when people came back after hours and had no where to sit!! (I hate selfish people!!!) On a cloudy day we went to the spa which was very nice. The only problem was the water was COLD in there!! I have seen comments about noise levels ... there is no way the road is noisy!! We slept so well every day and our room was facing the main road!!! Bad points : The aircon was very cold in the restaurant so it wasn't always pleasant to sit in there in a dress. My partner stuck to the dress code for the evening - long trousers and a shirt. It was a real shame to see that lots of people were wearing very scruffy t shirts and I even saw some people wearing trackies!!! The food was nice in the a la carte restaurant but wouldn't say it was any better than the normal food as the portions were small and there wasn't a carb is sight!! I didn't think it was nice in the restaurant that some staff members would practically shout in Spanish to the other staff then laugh really loudly. It felt like they were talking about the customers not work! The majority of the people staying there were elderly. I am 23 and my Fiance is 30 and we didn't have a problem with this. Overall I think the hotel was very good value for money. Clean , tidy and a nice place to relax!! P.s DO NOT waste your money on the aquarium. Literally could have been and done it in 5 mins!! Total waste of Â£20!!More

Good and Bad points
Good points 1. The location. Perfect for a short walk along the promenade to the marina. 2. The decoration. Fresh and modern. 3. The air conditioning. Very effective in the room and public areas. Bad points 1. Noise. There is no soundproofing and the cleaners were loud and banging doors from about 8am, so don't expect a lie in. 2. Breakfast. Due to go on until 10.30, but when we arrived at 9.45 the food had not been replenished and looked old. The fresh omelette and pancake station was good however. 3. The bed and pillows. The beds are a great size but have really hard mattresses. The pillows are far too soft, so if you suffer from neck problems (like me) bring your own pillow! 4. The rooms are obviously designed by a man, as there is no 'dressing table' mirror and the hairdryer is attached to the wall in the bathroom (which had no extractor fan). Unless you want to do your hair and makeup in the steam, bring your own hairdryer and mirror. 5. The sunbeds are really uncomfortable too. That's if you can get one. People reserve them with towels from an early hour. Benalmadena itself is a lovely place and there are some amazing restaurants at the marina (Toro is a must), but if I get offered one more rose, fake watch, fake handbag, sunglasses or neon flashing toys I think I might just scream!!! It also lacks live entertainment in the bars which is a shame. More

Not a true 4 star rating hotel
Nice room overlooking the pool on the 2nd floor however large spruce tree spoilt the view. Had to ask for towels as maid had not left us any floor was not brushed thoroughly each day. Food repetitive into the second week waitress service good especially Heidy and Valery. Would not recommend the a la carte meal not enough to eat the food was over cooked and tasteless the restaurant food far superior. It may be worth the management team looking to put an additional sun terrace where the crazy golf is as this is a wasted space that could be put to better use. It may prevent the regular sun bed runners being out with towels at the crack of dawn! Hilarious to watch. Entertainment programme was very poor we chose not to use as a result other than one night we had a drink before going in search of other bars and entertainment, fab bars locally met some very nice people in the square at Buddy's bar and bar Ole' . Would thoroughly recommend the Mariners bar for lunches and evening drinks too hosts Anna & Paul were very attentive food excellent and well priced. The beach is very clean and sun beds priced at 9 euros for 2 beds and a parasol was a bargain. This was our 4 the stay at the hotel we had hoped that they would have addressed the entertainment programme since we last visited as it would have been a bonus to us plus it would have put money back into the hotel across the bar. It would appear they are catering for the older end of the market however most of them went to bed early. The Gold hotel entertainment is far better maybe this is something Thomson need to address for this hotel? Speaking to other like minded guests this appeared to be a common theme for others. We will not be returning next year already looking at returning to the Gold hotels on offer for 2016. It's a shame as this could offer so much more.More

Ok for some
This hotel is an adults hotel for couples fortunately we found that 80%of the guests were impolite unfriendly and treated the staff like dirt and these were English people. We found the stAff were friendly sociable and nothing was too much for them they went out of their way to help us have a good holiday. I wrote to the manager asking for a sea view room on the top floor.he replied saying he would try to do this but it could not be guaranteed. However, when we arrived I got what I asked for the room was comfortable with a 6ft wide bed a shower but no bath but that was ok. There was tea and coffee making in the room. The hotel is painted battleship grey one wall in our room was in a mustard colour. To be honest the room needed a redecorating and doors and curtains needed a complete cleaning but we were there for two weeks and to be honest there are worse hotels. The first week the food was above average but by the second the standard dropped somewhat. Don't have the turkey thighs they were horrible as was the lamb cutlets.bar drinks were same price as most local bars with a good selection of drinks. The entertainment was in a word disappointing however,Sandra who was the entertainments manager tried very hard she is a lovely bubble young lady but if people don't participate and go to bed with cocoa and slippers then the bar will close at 11_30pm Lastly the clients were reserving Sun beds at 6 30 am on mornings and there for it was impossible to get a Sun bed I felt management should have inforced their rules it took numerous complaints before anything was done so by our 4th day the situation improved. If you like a bit of decent entertainment and reasonable quality food then this hotel is not for you. We enjoyed our stay making the best of things but after 10 pm the cabernet room was like a morgue every night we used it I felt like putting white sheets over the people sat there it was awful. We will not be returning again even though the staff were fantastic. The first week was better than the second we are in our 60s but we still need to have fun. The resort is very quiet for nightly entertainment with just bars one or two put bands on.More
Not as good as last year
The situation of the hotel is fantastic, on the main road, and the rear is next to the brilliant promenade and beach. A short walk to the marina, and the promenade is ideal for a stroll night and day, with plenty of bars and restaurants. The hotel has a good clean pool, plenty of sunbeds, but still some people put towels on beds, when there is no need. The rooms are very good, clean, and a good size. Some look towards the road, but when the balcony windows are shut, you cannot hear any noise. Guests are polite, and hardly any noise from other guests coming in late, or shutting doors. The reception staff are very good, very helpful, and can help you with anything you might need. Try the al a carte restaurant for no extra cost, and the staff there, Erika and Valery, are very professional in waiting on all your needs in the restaurant. We did not need the help of Gary the Thomson representative, as we had stayed at the hotel before, but if you need him, he can sort out any problems you might encounter. I would recommend this hotel to anyone apart from the fact the evening meals we had was not up to the standard of previous years. The breakfast was excellent, with lots of variety, you can have anything from cooked breakfasts, continental, fruit, cereals, etc. and try the pancakes, they are very good. A lot of guests we spoke to, started to eat out at the many, varied, kinds of restaurants nearby, as the food seemed to be bland after a couple of days. The entertainment to me was dire, and I like many went to the many bars, etc. for some entertainment. I must have missed the best one, a comedy night with I am told, a good comedian. There is a photo of the entertainments team, but apart from two, never saw the rest. I recommend this hotel for its location, but as I have mentioned, the other items I have mentioned need looking at, or I might need to look at staying somewhere else, but the staff in the restaurant, cannot be faulted. It is a shame, because apart from a couple of items, a good hotel to stay at.More
