Sylvia R,

Fantastic Hotel

We have just returned from a lovely two week holiday at this couples hotel. It is beautifully refurbished, mainly in tones of grey, our room was pleasant and overlooked the pool with a view of the sea, the beds were a bit firm as you frequently find in hotels. The bathroom was impressive, we had two sinks and the walk in shower was reliably hot with one overhead and one hand held shower. There is tea and coffee and a concierge/room service. The air conditioning stays on even when you are not in the room. It's E3 a day for the fridge and E3 a day for the safe. You can get a wifi username in reception and the wifi works all over the hotel including the rooms. The hotel staff are friendly and very efficient; I cannot fault any of it. There is a buffet breakfast and dinner with a wonderful choice of food and the tapas is delicious. There is a show cooking counter where you can have fresh food cooked for you. Men need to wear trousers in the evenings. You can charge your drinks to your room or pay as you go. There is also an al a carte restaurant which is quiet and elegant with some special dishes. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool and on the lower terraces and a lift takes you down to the promenade by the beach. The entertainment was a bit hit and miss with some average singers. There was also an entertainment team who put on singing and dancing shows coordinated by the lovely entertainments manager Sandra, who also does aquarobics and other daily entertainments. The Thomson's rep Gary was so helpful and caring, he took his time to listen to everyone and was simply the best rep we have ever known. The resort is lively in the evenings, you can venture up the hill or walk along to the Marina or towards Fuengirola. There were many Spanish people holidaying there which was nice. A bar called Mullarkeys over the road put on live music most nights. You can walk up to the Paloma Park which is nice with animals roaming around. Also you can walk up to the cable cars or get the bus. The views from the mountain are sensational and there is horse training and falconry up there. We went on the ferry from the Marina to Furengirola and saw some dolphins on the way. We also went on the trip to Ronda which was lovely with a stop on the way in Sentenil de las Bodegas which is a beautiful town with houses cut into the rocks. Ronda is beautiful and it is well worth paying a bit extra for the guide who took us to the bridge, the Peinado Museum (cubist friend of Picasso), a bodega with free wine tasting and tapas. We caught the bus to Mijas and saw some flamenco dancing and had a tour around on a tuk tuk, Not a lot to see there and quite touristy, but some lovely shops bars and restaurants. You can get some free trips with a factory tour of the merino wool bed products. I would not recommend going on these trips, the products are good but expensive, we went to Nerja with them and out of the whole day only got to spend 90 minutes in Nerja.More

loved it

Just returned from a two week holiday at this wonderful hotel and I must say my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. From walking through the doors on arrival until our departure day all the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and always very busy ensuring the hotel is a great place to spend your holiday. The hotel is spotless. the room was very spacious and comfortable and the food great. My only complaint would be the entertainment at night which we found was the only thing that disappointed. The location next to the beach is a plus and it is only a short walk to the nearby marina which has lots of brilliant shops and restaurants or you can stop off at one of the many beachfront cafes and restaurants all serving reasonably priced food and drink. We loved the Carte D,or beachfront café. The hotel also has a poolside bar which serves drinks all day until 5pm and bar snacks such as toasties. The swimming pool is cleaned every day and there are plenty of sunbeds although we had difficulty on a couple of days to find two together as some people find the need to reserve a sunbed with their towels from first daylight and maybe not using them until later in the day which can be a tad annoying. The buffet style restaurant in the hotel suited us both at breakfast and dinner and there is always plenty to choose from. All in all we would like to go back again sometimeMore

Nicely refurbished ,Very peaceful

This was our 1st visit to The Riviera, there's no negatives but plenty of positives, if you get a pool view room you'll have amazing views of the beach and harbour, which by night is so vibrant, the Hotel is basically on the beach with a few step to go down to the gated card entrance,All the staff are really nice ,from the waiters/waitresses to the room. Cleaners etc.The food is plentiful with plenty of variety, the entertainment by night is of typical Thompsons ,from Flemenco to Comedians not bad but not brilliant, the pool area is nice with enough sun beds to go round. When you meet Gary who is the rep for the hotel he is very knowledgeable and in our opinion the best rep weave ever had at the numerous hotels we've stayed at, A funny down to earth chap who does his job impeccably ,he doesn't come across pushy one bit.we will recommend this Hotel to friends n families,More
