Two golf courses, a great pool scene and a high-end spa are all part of the package at the Melia Villaitana.
This place is designed to look like a traditional Spanish village. We’re talking pretty squares, pastel-hued buildings and a pool with a manmade beach. On top of that, highlights include four restaurants, two tennis courts and a spa.
The property has a prime hillside postcode with sweeping sea views. And it’s sandwiched between two 18-hole golf courses. If you want to head into town, Benidorm is just a 10-minute drive away. This hotel is part of the A La Carte collection until April 2017. Until then, you’ll still enjoy all the great benefits, such as a private taxi to and from the airport.

The lagoon-style pool here definitely takes centre stage with its generous size, glossy palms, wooden bridges and rock features.
Evening entertainment programme in high season
The Royal Square is host to the evening entertainment, with professional live shows including The Lion King, Mamma Mia, magic shows and an acrobatic circus. Parties take place, too, with themes like black and white and Ibiza chill-out scenes.
There's plenty in the way of treatments here, from relaxing facials and Indian head massages, to full body treatments. There are eight treatment areas as well as a deluxe cabin with a Turkish bath and a hydrothermal area with Finnish sauna, Roman baths and an indoor pool with whirlpool. There's also the ECO YHI area which is located on an oriental lake with two outdoor cabins and two solariums.

This was our first visit to the Melia Villaitana resort, and after reading TripAdvisor reviews we were not quite sure what to expect. The hotel grounds are stunning and well laid out, and the room we had was very comfortable and clean, our room was overlooking the tennis courts, which was fine except they played quite late into the evening and you could hear the thud through the patio doors. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was served in a large room, and although there was a lot of choice, all of the cooked food was cold, there is a microwave and I ended up using this to heat the scrambled egg that I had put on my plate, after this I opted for an omelette that was cooked in front of you, so at least that was hot. The pastries were very good though and the staff were friendly. As it was not high season only one restaurant was open in the evenings, and this was a buffett at 26 euros per person, I thought this was a very high price for the food that was available, there was not much choice, so I ended up paying this much money for a tuna salad !!, the price did not include any drinks, and the only choice for drinks was Beer or wine. So after the first night, we ended up taking a taxi down into Benidorm each night to eat, taxis are between 10 and 12 euros each way and only about a 10 minute ride. We played both the golf courses, and they were both really good, the shorter course is very different to anything we have played before and a good challenge for all abilities, the greens on both courses were very good and very quick. The golf clubhouse was very good and it was lovely to sit on the terrace after our game in the sunshine and have lunch, The drinks as you would expect were not cheap and a club sandwich with fries was 12 euros, but very nice. A large bottle of water bought from the snack bar was 3.5 euros, but the same size bottle from the machine at the clubhouse was only 2.5 euros, So overall we had a great time, the setting of the hotel is really lovely and kept very clean, it was a bit of a walk from our room to the breakfast room and hotel reception, the staff were all very friendly and very helpful, but it is really the food that lets this hotel down, I did mention to a lady in the breakfast room on the first morning about the cold food and she said the staff were in training, but this is one of the comments I had read on tripadvisor before our trip.More
2nd Visit, 2nd Best
This was the 2nd time I'd stayed at Melia Villaitana and the experience wasn't as great as the first stay. We'd booked our rooms the same way we did on our first stay. However this time our party was split up in totally different parts of the hotel and with totally different rooms. Some of us had rooms with a living area, some of us just had a bedroom with no extra living area. Bit annoying for saying we was under the same booking and we got split up. The grounds are still as beautiful however! Just a little disappointed with the location of rooms and consistency of them for the same price.More
Lovely facilities but dreadful
Positives first - the buildings and grounds are stunning, room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Wifi was free and worked well. Staff were polite and friendly. Downsides: Waited over 30 mins to check in. Told when booked could have late check out, on arrival told not possible, after sometime agreed with â¬60 charge for four hours. During these four hours staff entered my room unannounced THREE times which is not acceptable. Knocking on the door and then immediately entering that second is inexcusable. No bolt on door to stop this. This was with the do not disturb sign on the door too. During this time I also spent two hours calling the front desk with phone unanswered despite over 10 calls, I left ringing for 2-3 minutes each call. It's a real shame as its a beautiful hotel but I won't be back.More
Very Very dissapointing
My partner and I arrived at this vast hotel complex at around 10pm. After easily finding parking underground our expectations were raised (this came at a charge of 10.50 euro as opposed to free of charge above ground, which was not clear). It then took over half a hour to find the reception as there was very little or poor directions. When we arrived at the checkout the receptionist was very brief in her introduction and give very little info about the hotel, our room or it's location. We then set off to find the room which would take us nearly a hour of walking in the poorly lit and signposted hotel grounds. Eventually we found the room (executive junior suite). The room was quite large but was very basic for what promised to be premium quality (think travel lodge or less). There was no ironing or tea/ coffee making facilities and a basic shower over a bath. Anyway we headed down for dinner... I am not exaggerating when I say the food served at the buffet was the worst food I have ever been served. There was very little choice and what was there was cold, mangled, dry, without any flavour at all. I am not a fussy eater by far and have eaten some crap over the years but I could not eat this, despite being very hungry (it's a good job the wine was good). The breakfast served the next morning was equally as bad. I could go on and on about how bad this hotel was but I will try and summarise for you. Lovely setting... crap food, crap customer service (bar man wearing glasses the only exception), crap room facilities overall very poor value. would not recommend.More
Very nice Hotel
We stayed here with some friends for two nights for a weekend getaway, we had a premium room at the level, and the room was very nice for the price, and the views from the room are beautiful, the hotel grounds are very nice, and the pools are beautiful, The breakfast was good and had a good variety and dinner both nights was good also. Overall the quality of the food was good also, The staff are very pleasant and helpful. We had a small problem with a strange odor coming from the room next door, through the adjoining door, ( not our friends next to us) we spoke to the manager about it next day and he was very accommodating and moved us without us having to ask. Overall I liked this hotel very much and plan to stay here again. I would highly recommend the level side of the hotel for couples and the non level side for families as the grounds are large the rooms are beautiful, and there is plenty to do to keep both groups occupied and Happy.
