Hotel Villa del Mar

Magic Villa del Mar teams style with a standout location – it’s right on Poniente Beach, close to Benidorm’s old town.

This beachfront property gets top marks for style. The interiors are super-contemporary – think funky chairs and coloured lighting in the bars – and bedrooms are dressed in a palette of soft colours. Opt for one of the Jacuzzi sea-view rooms and you’ll be able to look over the Med from your own whirlpool bath.

The swimming pool is just as easy on the eye. It’s a small, rectangular number with a pebble-effect border and a line of in-water sunloungers. More loungers are set out on the sun terrace, along with chic white parasols.

Up on the roof, there’s a terrace with widescreen sea views. During the day, it’s a sunbathing area with loungers and a soundtrack of chill-out music, while after dark it transforms into a chic cocktail bar.

Location-wise, you’re just across the prom from sandy Poniente Beach and less than 10 minutes’ stroll from the tapas bars and restaurants in the old town.

We have travelled extensively but this was our first time in Benidorm. We were visiting family over the New Year and booked to stay for 5 nights. Even though we had booked full board, we were told we were too late for evening meal and were not offered anything else, snacks or refund. Swimming pool was far too cold to swim in. It costs 13 euros each for an hours use of spa pool. Dining room too small, as was the entertainment bar and bar area adjacent dining room. We thought this was a four star but was a poor two star. We could have saved a lot of money and stayed at a better two star hotel with facilities which were useable.More

New Year break

We arrived at the hotel on the 27th December 2014 we were two couples, when we arrived at 14:10 hrs only one room was ready but were given a drink of Sangria and told we could have lunch, after lunch our rooms were ready, rooms are clean but the bathroom had a constant smell of sewerage coming from it especially first thing in the morning which I must say is not a pleasant smell, if you had a shower you had to turn the shower head to the wall or the water went all over the toilet seat or the floor got wet, food was ok but wouldn't say it was wonderful, one night a Spanish family decided to sit next to the food displays when asked to leave they refused only after I went to reception to complain did they leave reason I complained is their hair etc as they were leaning was going onto the food, there is a very small bar in the restaurant which doesn't have a lot of seating area, if you want to chillax you can go to the bar downstairs where there is entertainment but the bar only opens at 21:00 hrs so if you need a top up you have to go back upstairs for a drink, the downstairs bar for the size of the hotel is small and you would struggle for a seat after nine at night, staff are very nice and friendly but I would not go back to this hotel, they say they have a pool but this is an indoor pool and the condensation makes it an uncomfortable area to relax in the rooftop bar is good and very relaxing but closes at 18:00 hrsMore

Lovely hotel, I'd definately return

Lovely hotel on the seafront, just a 5-10 min walk into the Old Town side of town. (a much nicer and quieter side of Benidorm than the new town). The room was really clean, nice large bathroom, (we had a double ended bath with great rain shower above) sofa, and the TV had 5 english channels. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room as well as a fridge. The restaurant had plenty of choice (we were on an all inclusive package) and in the bars they used branded liquor not cheap house immitations. Watch out for the measures, they're huge, so you can drink a little too much if you're not careful. The chill out terrace on the roof is a must, all the furniture is white and it's a great sun trap. The pool in the back of the hotel was a little chilly so we only went in it once. We would definately consider staying here again. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to take ear plugs as the corridors are a little noisy, marble floors and doors shutting did echo a bit, plus we found some of the other residents on the noisy side.More

Loved it!

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and what made it so brilliant was the staff. They are so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and there were no silly rules guests had to abide by as I've encountered before in other hotels, such as not taking drinks to your room or not being able to take your meals outside. I didn't feel restricted in any way at the Villa Del Mar; it was a home from home. They even gave us plastic glasses so we could take drinks on to the beach - which is literally on the door step. We had a superior double with no sea view. Next time I will get a sea view because I did miss waking up to sparkling blue. The location of the hotel is excellent - not too far from Old Town and over-looking the most gorgeous beaches. Our room was fine, plenty big enough and the shower was lovely, even if it did flood the bathroom whenever I used it. Plenty of hot water and a powerful water pressure. Maids cleaned it everyday. I will say that some of the towels we were given were small, old and thin, though sometimes were given large fluffy ones, so maybe the hotel needs to look at replacing the old and tired towels. No balcony either which I missed, and would have missed a whole lot more if we'd had a sea view, but this would not stop me from returning to the hotel as the roof top chill out terrace more than makes up for the lack of balconies - it is stunning. I was disappointed that its bar closed at 6pm and the terrace itself closed at 8pm. I would have gladly sat up there all night. I also think it's a shame the pool is not up there too. They have a spa up there instead, which not many guests use as it's a pay per use set up. If only the pool and the spa changed places, it would be utter perfection. The hotel pool was hardly used either and I think that's because it's set in mostly a shaded area and it's a bit of a pain to get to. If you're on the roof top, you have to go down to the ground floor and then get another lift (or take the stairs) to another floor as the lift that services the roof terrace does not service the pool area. It was easier just to go on the beach and swim in the sea - which was fantastic - warm, calm and lovely soft sand with no rocks. Food was OK, not the best hotel food I've had, but certainly not the worst either. There is a good choice, so you should always find something you like. For the price you pay, it is excellent value all round. We will definitely go back for another holiday and would not hesitate in recommending the hotel to family and friends.More

lovely new year break

We went to villa de mar on the 27th December 2014 for a week. On arrival we were offered a glass of sangria and were told our room was not quite ready but we could go in the resturant for lunch while we waited, we didnt have to wait long. Our room was lovely spotless clean and very comfortable. While I was there I was ill my husband got me some throat spray from the chemist,as the instructions were in spainish I went to reception and asked the receptionist if she could translate for me , which she did. She was name Veronica she was lovely. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly. The food was amazing. New years eve gala meal was fantastic I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday. The only little irritation was the restaurant was a little packed at times but that was due to large spanish family's all wanting to sitntogether and being slighty impatient. I would recommend this hotel .More
