Hotel Helios

A laid-back hotel close to Benidorm's clubs, bars, and beach, the Hotel Helios gets top marks for location. Pool-wise, there's a large one with a snack-come-cocktail bar on the side. The restaurant lays out a spread of both international and Spanish fare, too.

This place has a really central setting. It’s right in the heart of Benidorm and just a ten-minute walk from Playa de Levante – the town’s most popular beach. Lined by shops, bars and restaurants, this wide stretch of sand comes with all the trimmings.

The hotel itself is a big contemporary number, with bedrooms set over eight floors. They’re simple but smart. And they all come with extras like satellite TVs and private balconies.

Outside, meanwhile, the pool is the main attraction. It’s a big rectangular affair, framed by a spacious sun terrace. During the winter, it’s heated. There’s also a separate children’s pool, and during the summer a snack bar complete with a palm-fringed dining terrace.

In terms of food, big global buffets with show cooking means there’s always plenty of choice. Dishes tend to have a Spanish flavour – think paellas, tapas and fresh seafood – but there’s plenty of cuisine from other countries, too. We’re talking everything from steak and chips to pizzas. For after-dinner drinks, meanwhile, the open-air bar serves up cocktails by the pool.

Lovely hotel

Stayed for four nights at this hotel, friendly staff, nice choice of food, clean comfortable room. Only down side for us was the hotel entertainment was ballroom dancing, line dancing or just too old music for us. We ventured out on an evening looking for more livelier entertainment. We stayed on the fifth floor overlooking the back of the hotel. The walls of the hotel are very thin, we could hear everything going on in the rooms joining us. If staying in benidorm again would stay at this hotel but take earplugs for night times! The hotel has a great location just a stroll to the sea front and just around the corner to the market. Hired a safe for 3euros a night.More

Great Hotel, Good location.

Good clean hotel, me and the wife stayed at the Helios in November our room looked to the rear of the hotel good views. The food was the usual full board selection no issues always something to eat. The next time we are in Benidorm we would have no problems booking the Helios, it's in a short walking distance to the Square and to the beach also close to the Market. We cannot rate the bar area or the Pool as we did not use these but we could see that the pool area was nice and clean.More

A very big Thank You to the Reception Staff.

We returned to the Hotel Helios this month, & we're recognised as regular visitors, by the gentleman on reception. Our room on the 5th. floor, was clean & ready & waiting for us. Everything there we needed. The only problem we had was the safety deposit key was very stiff. The next morning the chambermaid recognised us, which was nice, she is so busy, but always friendly. The Dining Room Staff again remembered us, & even the chefs! The reception staff usually recognise us, & always speak. On this visit I required medical treatment, & am so grateful to the staff for their assistance, & advice. It was invaluable! After telephoning Jet2 Helpline, Lisa was very helpful. It was decided that I would wait until the following morning, when I was advised that a Doctor's visit would be arranged for me. I decided to visit Clinica Europa, & was advised to take my passport & E111 card. Treatment was obtained, & I had to return every day for dressings. Interestingly enough, you have to pay in cash, on each visit, cards are not accepted. The Reception Staff always asked how things were? They are so busy, even more so now, plus the long hours they work. Plus the number of guests they see, it is so nice to be treated & greeted like "old friends"! We will be returning to the Hotel Helios next month, for our usual visit.More

Happy Vacation

The transfer bus from and back to airport stops directly outside hotel different to some hotels we went to on the transfer journey. Met at the pleasant newly renovated reception by a very friendly gentleman. Given our bedroom key for 6th. floor. 3lifts available. Room was a pleasure to see. Exactly as in brochure and kept to this high standard throughout the 2weeks.Large balcony overlooking the pool area where we sat late afternoon in the warm sunshine. Bathroom with jacuzzi supplied with cleam white towels daily.Everything kept spotlessly clean by pleasant cleaning staff. One double bed and one large single bed always looking perfect and I mean perfect. Restaurant has also been updated since we were there last year. Many of the same staff who we found to be very helpful and pleasant. Drinks are now purchased on entry which is a very good idea. We were full board and always found the choice excellent . Salads.fish .chicken rice dishes or other meals cooked at the cooking station.Eggs;omlettes.crepes,and bacon cooked to your liking.for breakfast. There was one Chinese food evening with a variety of dishes and one evening there must have been a choice of about ten gateaux. Always plent of fresh fruit at every meal time. Pool area very pleasant and has the sun this time of year until about 3.30pm.Plenty of room but bring your own towels. Outddor Market every Sun. and Wed literally just around corner so if you forget anything this is the place to buy it, Did not stay in for entertainment in evening as it seemed to consist mostly of dancing. We had a wonderful evening in Benidorm Palace. Wonderful show .Worth a visit. Looking forward to next January.More

Enjoyable Stay

My husband and I booked last minute with Thomson for a week in the sunshine to get away from the cold and snow. We returned last night after a sunny week at a lovely hotel. The Hotel Helios is well positioned for all Benidorm's pubs and entertainment and is a short stroll to the Levante Beach. We were given a lovely spacious room facing the pool complete with a jaccuzzi bath. The balcony got the sun all day. We were full board and enjoyed all our meals in the restaurant, there was plenty of choice and it was well presented. There was show cooking at lunch and each evening, so always something hot off the grill. Antonio always greeted you with a smile and a hello when you entered the restaurant, in fact all the staff including the bar staff and even the lifeguard were very pleasant. The pool area has recently been refurbished and some work is still ongoing but we spent a few pleasant hours sitting out there in the sunshine. Only one gripe... the entertainment was geared to the Spanish/Dutch guests. Yes, the British in the hotel were in the minority, but please try and to cater to other tastes with the music and maybe a little more variety other than music for dancing. Would we return, yes again at this time of year as long as the entertainment improved.More
