Hotel Helios

A laid-back hotel close to Benidorm's clubs, bars, and beach, the Hotel Helios gets top marks for location. Pool-wise, there's a large one with a snack-come-cocktail bar on the side. The restaurant lays out a spread of both international and Spanish fare, too.

This place has a really central setting. It’s right in the heart of Benidorm and just a ten-minute walk from Playa de Levante – the town’s most popular beach. Lined by shops, bars and restaurants, this wide stretch of sand comes with all the trimmings.

The hotel itself is a big contemporary number, with bedrooms set over eight floors. They’re simple but smart. And they all come with extras like satellite TVs and private balconies.

Outside, meanwhile, the pool is the main attraction. It’s a big rectangular affair, framed by a spacious sun terrace. During the winter, it’s heated. There’s also a separate children’s pool, and during the summer a snack bar complete with a palm-fringed dining terrace.

In terms of food, big global buffets with show cooking means there’s always plenty of choice. Dishes tend to have a Spanish flavour – think paellas, tapas and fresh seafood – but there’s plenty of cuisine from other countries, too. We’re talking everything from steak and chips to pizzas. For after-dinner drinks, meanwhile, the open-air bar serves up cocktails by the pool.

Great people

We stayed here 20-30 June and had a pleasant stay. We checked in quickly which was suprising as there were a fair amount of us checking in. The receptionist was smiley and polite. Our room was on the 6th floor but there are 3 lifts and they are very efficient only fault is they are fairly small (4 people and 4 cases was a very tight squeeze.) When we arrived at our room it was very spacious and immaculately cleaned with free aircon that worked very well. we had a jacuzzi bath and the second room which two members of our party stayed in had a lovely spacious walk in shower, the beds were were suprisingly comfortable. We stayed full baord, the drinks were very reasonably priced and bar staff were amazing; very polite friendly and always up for a laugh. The food served was good however it got very repetitive as there was usually a beef dish and pork dish and then the chefs were using cooking another beef or pork dish. I would also say that maybe the chef needs some assistance with menu planning and they provided a rice dish when there was no main meal to go with the rice dish and an evening they provided curry there was nothing but chips. Desserts are not great! but usually something for everyone. Breakfast was unfaultable as there was everything from Cereal and toast to full english to continental. The pool was a little smaller than expected but the area was clean; the main life guard was amazing he ensured that people were not reserving sunbeds and even collected towels if people were not using there sunbeds afer a certain amount of time, he was very helpful and polite and would move sunbeds for you in the morning if you asked him, he was especially good with customers who were in wheelchairs and would help them in and out of the pool and stay with them for as long as they wanted to be in the pool. We didnt hang about for the entertainment in the evening as it was not great in comparison with what just down the road; but from bits we did see kids club looked good for the kids. Location is very good and very central. Great hotel, staff all polite and helpful. however would recommend maybe going out for dinner a few to break the cycle.More

Good clean hotel very friendly staff. Pool not as big as we expected but fantastic food. Only critism apart from pool is that we were out of room by 11am and our flight was 2.30am nxt morning and there wasn't any rooms to get changed and showered etc and we had bairns. They said they were fully booked More

Quiet location

The hotel was clean and comfortable, no frills room but fine. Air con room and nice bathroom. Balcony with table. Breakfast, everything you could wish for so no complaints. The hotel was in quiet area but near enough to walk to bars, shows etc. the staff were very friendly. The only thing was car parking outside was on meter, expensive, so car went in hotels car park at cost of 10 euros per day! If you intend going to Benidorm Palace the taxi ride was 5 euros each way, bargain. i ŵould stay there again.More

Great Hotel

We stayed here 14th-21st June, we were checked in quickly by a polite and friendly young man. Our room was spotless and we had a walk in shower, room was spacious and towels changed every day the maid was very friendly, we hired the fridge and safe for a surcharge. We were room 434 facing back of hotel it was quiet at night. Stayed half board the food was fine plenty of choice except for the desserts which weren't great. The pool area was spotless and the Life Guard went round and if towels were there unattended he would leave a card then come back and remove towel which is good as people can't go away for hours and keep sunbeds,he was very pleasant and saw him taking great care with disabled people in the pool, entertainment girls were very good as well had a foam party one afternoon. Didn't stay in for entertainment at night as hotel is close to bars, beach etc. wifi is very good as well at hotel. Would return to this hotel.More

Love it!

This was our 7th stay in the past 4 years! Love this hotel! It's location is close to the beach, main strip and bars, restaurants and shops yet it's very quiet. The rooms are spotlessly clean as is the entire hotel. The pool is lovely and warm and very clean. We will be back next year! More
