An introduction to Hotel Castilla
This cloud-piercing 11-floor hotel is just off the Avenida de Europa. It’s in a central spot, so it puts bars and restaurants at your fingertips, plus Levante beach is only a five-minute walk away. That said, this part of town is still fairly quiet so while everything is within easy reach, there’s still plenty of peace and quiet on the cards here.
Aside from the location, one of the main reasons guests keep coming back here is the pool area. This suntrap comes fringed with palms, loungers and parasols, and there’s a main pool and a kids’ pool in a wraparound sun terrace.
Indoors, it’s all about light and airy spaces. Take the bar for instance. It’s a big, open area with plenty of light-wood tables and stripy blue-and-white chairs. Add indoor palms and a snug corner of comfy seats, and it’s a great place to relax. Then there’s the restaurant. Painted cream and teamed with terracotta chairs and tables dressed in white, it’s a smart yet calm space. You’ll find English breakfasts, and around-the-world favourites all on the menu, with a little show cooking thrown in for good measure.
Elsewhere, the best thing about the bedrooms has to be their size. They’re all nice and roomy, with balconies, so you can enjoy the outdoors without leaving your room. In terms of vibe, they’ve got quite a homely feel, decorated in warm earthy tones. Plus they all come with nice-to-haves like satellite TVs, minibars and hairdryers, so as a holiday base, they’ve got everything you need.
