With tropical gardens, bloom-framed pools and a tranquil spa, the Barcelo Asia Garden Hotel & Thai Spa offers a taste of the Orient.
Coral-coloured buildings, Babylon-esque hanging gardens, and koi ponds spotted with lily pads make this place feel like it’s been lifted from the Far East. Rooms are dressed in Japanese-style neutral tones, and even come with kimonos.
The property is set at the foot of the Sierra de Cortina mountains, and its hillside position offers widescreen views of the ocean. When you want to explore, the nearest beaches are a half-hour walk, or a short cab ride, away.

Nice place for family and friends. We went with our children and they enjoyed it a lot, and it was also a relaxing time for us. Very good installations and careful service. Good experience we'll probably come back!More
Horrible hotel/ service/ food
Traveling in a group of 5 adults & 2 vegetarian seniors citizens. Called three times before making reservations to check if they would accommodate vegetarian and they informed that they have Udaipur restaurant which serves veg food. Four hours before check in we called again to order for food as we were reaching late, they informed that Thai restaurant & Udaipur would have vegetarian food so there's nothing to worry. After check in the shocks started unfolding. Thai restaurant was closed. Asian chef was on an off. On reaching the room,A/C wasn't working in the entire block. They couldn't even have the decency to inform us about it at the reception. We had to settle into the rooms to find out. With Great difficulty we got 2 rooms with working A/C. And were forced to let the 2 senior members sleep in the room without A/C since they couldn't be asked to constantly shift places. This is a hotel for only those who can speak the local language. Great location. Good common areas, decor and lobby. Horrible rooms, horrible food & the worst service you could image. Wouldn't qualify this property in "leading hotels.....". Booked for 2 night but left hotel next morning as we couldn't handle any more. Tried to meet the manager before leaving. He didn't show up so we left after waiting for two hours.... Don't recommend & never to come back. More
Nice for a short weekend or for families with children
We were booked in a sea view terraced suite which turned out just to have a tiny balcony (only good for two chairs) and a distant glimpse of sea with an urban skyline prevailing in the view. Finally got moved to ground floor where there was a 'natural' terrace as it's on the ground. No rate reduction was offered as staff came up with a 'garden suite' option which had never been (and is not) on the website.... A secluded place with plenty of artificial water around - we bet maintenance must be difficult but they cope adequately. Food is good especially in In Black restaurant. Nice heated pool in the 'adult' area. Spa is ok but seems to be small for the size of the hotel - I was asked to have a foot massage outside with ambient temperature in the evening of 17 or go to the same room with my partner.... a very small gym - just one treadmill and one elipse machine. Manicure and pedicure - never again - broken instruments, proper product like cuticle remover missing, scarce cover with varnish with blank sides left .... not a very professional therapist. I would think the place is good for kids as they would be wondering around a big fenced territory but for adults I think it's too secluded and not up to expectation for a couple, maybe just for a one-off weekend....More
Nice premium hotel in oriental style
Very nice premium hotel. Many rooms are in separate buildings in garden surrounding main room. It is sometime bit challending to find a way, but after few trials you learn. The hotel is in Thai style, which practically means everywhere in corridors plays oriental music, smells oriental scent of the asian scent-sticks, there are lilies, orchids and oriental statues everywhere and all members of staff say "thank you" and bow with braced hands every other minute (which feels sometime bit odd as most are typical European). It is all fine as far as you have no allergy on lilies. It has relaxed atmosphere and gives you feeling of being looked after. Rooms, restaurants and all other facilities are nice. Tips: some rooms do not have heating; if you are coming off-season better check and ask for room with heating. In March/April the evenings, nights and mornings are still pretty cold. Tips for improvement: in some rooms are not mirrors where you can see full body from head to shoe. And switches for many different lights in the room are true brain-teaser. More
Far away feeling, but so near.....
It was not our first, and won't be last time for us at Asia Gardens. Ideal hotel for a short outing; though the pools, gardens, breakfast buffet, and staff friendless were excellent, for the price you pay, you'd expect a little more exclusiveness. In general terms, the food at restaurants are quite ok / decent but you would not expect differently at a 5 star hotel; personally for the quality , consider it overall a bit pricy. But again, for a weekend it is doable. Less luck we had with our mattress of the bed, which was just in a very bad shape (way too soft / worn out), the hotel staff apologized and tried to fix it by flipping it..... hence was not a solution. Again, for just a couple of nights we could put up with it. For a longer stay, I would seriously look for alternatives. But the environment and quite atmosphere (most of the time) did make it worth for a weekend; being only an hour and a half from Valencia, we'd most likely come back from time to time.More
