Book a last-minute holiday to Benidorm and you can be barefoot and bronzing in no time – particularly as this popular Spanish town is a mere two-and-a-half hours from the UK. Here’s a little taster of what you’ll find here…
Energetic doesn’t begin to describe the shows on offer at Benidorm Palace. Jugglers, showgirls, magicians and flamenco dancers all come out to wow the crowds. Either get there early for the pre-show dinner or turn up at 10pm just in time for the party.
Tapas on tap
Between Place de la Constitutio all the way along Santo Domingo you’ll find what the locals like to call Tapas Alley. Garlic shrimps, spicy potatoes and fried squid – you can try it all here.
Faultless Blue Flag beaches
Levante and Poniente beaches are two of the biggest draws to the area. Both have the coveted Blue Flags that attract families from far and wide. Levante is perhaps the busier of the two, probably because it’s got slides that drop you straight into the sea.
In the summer, don’t be surprised to see some of the world’s hottest DJs on the bill in Benidorm’s clubs. Judge Jules and David Morales have been known to do a set or two. If clubbing isn’t really your scene, you’ll find plenty of other lively entertainment here – from comedians to tribute bands.
A quiet side
It is possible to find a little bit of peace and quiet in Benidorm, among all the busy beaches and sizzling nightlife. One place that’s often overlooked is Malpas Beach, the cove just behind the port in the old town.
