An introduction to El Paraiso Escondido

The spectacular setting of Los Algarrobales and the dedication to comfort and style displayed by its owner, Michel, have made this deliciously rural hideaway a firm favourite with Simply Collection guests since the launch of our very first brochure. In response to our requests for a similar retreat designed specifically for couples, Michel created Le Paradis, and this proved to be so popular - with many guests visiting in the spring booking straight away to return later in the year!

We are therefore delighted that Michel agreed to build another four further cottages, sharing their own lovely swimming pool, on his estate. Judging from the feedback we received, Le Paradis left little to be desired, but being a true perfectionist, Michel has dreamed up a few ideas to make the luxurious El Paraiso Escondido even more outstanding.

With their cleverly designed, open plan interiors, the four cottages offer spacious, comfortable and very well-appointed accommodation. Each has its own private terrace positioned to benefit from the sun's trajectory with a shaded area perfect for late morning breakfasts.

Inside, the kitchens are superbly equipped with a full range of appliances, including even a hand blender for mixing locally grown tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers for a refreshing gazpacho. Satellite TV, air-conditioning, central heating and wood fired chimneys are added extras to enhance your stay without detracting from the rural Mediterranean flavour of the property. The new houses also boast CD players as well as four poster beds and share the facilities of a centrally located laundry room.

El Paraiso Escondido nestles at the foot of the Lagarin Ridge, a true paradise for lovers of birds, large and small. Home to a colony of griffon vultures, short-toed and Bonnelli eagles and with sightings of a pair of golden eagles, the ridge also receives the occasional visit from the famous Cabra Montes or ibex (mountain goat) from the nearby Sierra de Algodonales.

Active types can indulge in a wide range of outdoor pursuits such as hill walking, horse-riding and rock climbing. For those guests wishing for a cultural element to their stay, Los Algarrobales is conveniently located on the border of Malaga and Cadiz provinces, allowing easy access to the diversity of Andalucia's most enchanting provincial cities. Cadiz to the west is the oldest populated city in Europe.

Seville, Cordoba and Granada - with their wealth of historic monuments and within scenic three-hour drives - are a highlight for any visitor to the area, leaving a lasting impression of a splendid Moorish legacy. However, for guests who prefer to explore the more immediate countryside, the surrounding 'pueblos blancos' or white towns include the timeless villages of Zahara de la Sierra, Grazalema or Setenil de las Bodegas, whose names alone invite investigation.
