The Stone House

The Stone House's appeal, aside from its adorable appearance and situation, is that it is designed just for two (or three) and so is ideal for a romantic interlude; a honeymoon, an anniversary or just the special occasion of being on holiday.
The house's amazing vantage point and breathtaking view can be enjoyed to the full from the splendid terrace, shaded by a huge old olive tree and reached up some steps under a vine bough arch. Through the rolling sea of green below, peek arrow-like cypress trees and the chimney pots of cottages hidden in the woods and of Caldas de Monchique tucked in a cleft of the hillside. Sparkling in the distance on brilliantly clear days and merging with the horizon on hazy ones, is the sea. Across the terrace, the lovely old stone cistern of collected water from the wooded hillside above has been extended to make a small swimming pool. A footpath threads its way from the terrace, up through cork oaks and olive trees to a tiny hamlet, just one of many lovely strolls to be enjoyed.
The Stone House has been carefully converted and offers comfort, space and character, only a ten-minute drive from Monchique. The layout is upside-down, to make the most of the splendid view: spacious sitting room (and single bedroom) on the first floor and double bedroom below. The best place to drink in the vista is doubtless outside under the olive tree as the sun sets, and you can enjoy a good dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby.
