Views don't come much more spectacular than those at Cerro d'Aguia, a hillside holiday area that looks out over the Praia de Sao Rafael to the beautiful blue waters of the Atlantic. Rich in scenic beauty, it's also known as 'Millionaires Row' because of the swanky villas that line the ridge, decorated in various shades of money. When it comes to beaches, this area scores highly, offering everything from quiet coves to large stretches with bars, restaurants and watersports. The most popular is Gale, a vast expanse of golden sand where you can skid around on a jet ski, go 'up, up and away' on a parasailing adventure or take the kids for a rib-tickling banana boat ride. There's a reasonable selection of bars and restaurants around Cerro d'Aguia, while nearby Albufeira offers more to choose from. Alternatively, head inland to Guia, a lively town where you can give your tastebuds a workout with a plate of chicken piri-piri, washed down with a refreshing glass of vinho verde. There's a modern retail complex just outside of town, with shops, fast food outlets, a cinema and a bowling alley. And Guia is also the home of the famous Zoomarine Park, where you can see dolphins and sealions strutting their stuff, check out the performing parrots and enjoy all the fun of the fair. As for golf, you're never far from a course in the Algarve, and the one at Salgados, just ten minutes or so drive from Cerro d'Aguia, is one of the best.
