And if unwinding is a top priority, head for the sumptuous health club. Not only does it have its own indoor and outdoor pools, there are also extras like whirlpool baths and an orange-scented steam room. There's also a lengthy list of spa treatments that must have had Posh Spice reaching for her AmEx Black card. The Vila Vita also bends over backwards to keep its younger guests smiling. There's an 18-hole crazy golf course, an oversized playground and a football pitch. And if you want a few hours to yourself, sign them up to Annabella's Kids Park. It's a cut above the usual holiday clubs with activities like baking, fashion modelling, mini-Olympics and magic shows. Even hard-to-please teens can't complain with offerings like surf lessons and excursions to waterparks and jeep safaris. As for the Vila Vita itself, it's rather like a sumptuous Moorish palace – all mosaic floors, hand-painted walls and grand archways. And the dining set up is just as impressive. Nine restaurants fight for your attention, including the rustic Portuguese 'Adega' eatery and the Moorish-style 'Aladin Grill' with its beautiful stained-glass windows. The bedrooms are everything you'd expect of a deluxe resort, too. Roomy, stylish and with 21st century gadgets like CD players. If you're looking for an indulgent break, the friendly Vila Vita is the kind of hotel that makes you feel like a celebrity. Even if, like the Beckhams, you don't need to check in to escape the paparazzi.
