Dunas do Alvor Apartments

You get more than you bargained for at the Dunas do Alvor Apartments. For starters, they’re in a superb spot. Alvor’s golden sands are a mere five minute walk away. And it takes even less time to stroll into the village itself. Then on the complex itself, there’s a handy hub of shops, bars and cafés. Plus there are regular rides into Lagos and Albufeira from the nearby bus stop. So you don’t have to worry about hiring a car while you’re here. It’s all on your doorstep.

As for the Dunas itself, it’s smiles all round here, too. It’s spacious, smart and the friendly atmosphere hits you from the moment you check in. And the welcoming team make you feel right at home throughout your stay. Talking of home, you’ll be just that in the apartments here. Modern, light and airy, they certainly haven't scrimped on space. There’s a roomy open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area and a separate twin bedroom. Everything about them is contemporary from the fitted kitchen to the neutral colour scheme.

Even though the beach is an easy stroll away, the Dunas’ jumbo pool is a great sand-free alternative. Sunk into a sizeable terrace accessorised with sun beds and parasols, there’s also a pool bar on the side. And behind is a huge lawn dotted with palms, which makes great sunbathing territory. If you don’t want to spend all your time lazing about, tempting as it is, there’s plenty on the activities score including an onsite tennis court and watersports on the beach in high season. Friendly, relaxing and in a top spot, the Dunas do Alvor Apartments make the perfect Portuguese break.

2 star

Inside is dirty, dark, old fashioned and damaged. The room where we stayed was terrible and worse than the 2 hour dealt. However the outside and pool area was amazing. Would definitely recommend going to the pic nic bar. Additionally the hotel is near a lovely town.More

Great value, great location, clean and friendly staff.

We've been to the algarve 5 times and always stayed at the dunas, the last time being August-sept 2013 We always find the apartments to be clean and adequate for our needs, ( who needs ovens, etc when you are on holiday!! Go out!!!!! It's what you go on holiday for) Every time we have had any issues with appliances we go to reception and it sorted within 24hours :) staff are always helpful and friendly. Location is excellent as near to beach, town and supermarket, ( alisuper) only thing I would say is could do with providing toilet rolls on a daily basis as sometimes left short lol- and have to buy them. It's the only hotel we would ever stay at when visiting Alvor and will stay here again in the future. Great value for money. (The negative reviews on here are laughable to read - there's a lot of victor meldrews out there.) More

enjoyable time

we stayed at the Dunas for a week 13th -20th oct we booked it with Thompson holidays it was our first time to Alvor so didn't know what to expect.the apartment we had was lovely it was very clean in fact you could smell the bleach when you walked in; we had a huge balcony with a table and two chairs also two sunbeds and a built in barbeque. The complex was great the pool was huge and really clean the man who looked after it was really nice and when he saw you he would bring you a sun umbrella straight over. The bars were really friendly and the food and drinks were excellent value for money.Alvor itself was nice with a lovely wide beach which was lovely to walk along as were the boardwalks. Our only complaint would be the amount of dog mess around the resort. All in all we had a great week and would certainly return to the Dunas again.More

Great Location

We have just returned from 11 nights stay in Dunas. We rented our apartment through homeaway.co.uk, the apartment is privately owned & managed by an English couple. Our apartment was just fantastic, spotless, modern, leather sofa's & really comfortable beds etc. We had two balconies and also use of the roof terrace which gave fantastic views. The location of Dunas is very central, just a short walk to the beach or into the town. Unfortunately only one lift was working whilst we were there & being on the third floor, we preferred to use the lift than the stairs, however, this was not a huge problem. The lady on the reception desk was very helpful with any questions we had. The pool was lovely, being October, it was very quiet & therefore plenty of loungers & umbrellas for us to use (the pool was freezing, but with the temp in the 80's, quite appreciated!) Plenty of cheap bars for a cold beer & snack at lunchtime around the complex, we especially enjoyed The Chillout Bar & Cactos Bar, very friendly & very cheap. If we were to return to Dunas, it would be through the company we used this year as we would be sure of a excellent apartment.More

Great location but Poor Apartments

The Dunas from the outside looks great. Pity same couldn't be said for the inside. Our apartment was very spacious but very dated. Curtains had holes in them. Toilet seat was loose. The bottom of the toilet was dirty. Cushions on the sofa bed were dirty. The sofa bed was hard and very uncomfortable. A hob but no oven. One socket for a kettle, microwave and toaster. The balcony was very small with a table and two chairs. The apartment was for four. The dining table had four chairs but only three had cushions. The fridge was so noisy it kept me awake at night. The staff were very friendly. It's such a shame the apartment we had was in such bad shape. A little bit TLC and our experience of the Dunas could have been very different.More
