Dunas do Alvor Apartments

These roomy apartments are only minutes from Alvor’s sandy beach and village centre. There’s a bus stop nearby, too, so you can get to Lagos and Albufeira easily.

These apartments have location all sewn up. They’re a 5-minute stroll from Alvor’s golden sands, and the village centre is even closer. Plus, there’s a handful of cafés, bars and shops in the complex itself.

Bright and spacious apartments are set in a trio of buildings that skirt the pool area. There’s plenty of sunbathing space, plus a bar serving drinks and snacks.

Good sized roomy appartment

We were given a 2 bedroom appartment which we found to be very roomy, it was well equipped and even had a washing machine and ironing board. However it was quite tired and in need of an update. Went oct half term week and it was very quiet despite the weather still being warm and we were told it was a all year round resort. Good places to eat were annies bar, a small italian round the corner and big reds. Went to a few places on the bus which was easy to get to as the appartments are pretty central, enjoyed the holiday appart from our neighbours above, but wouldnt aspire to revisit.More

Spacious Friendly accommodation

The apartment is very spacious and just needs a lick of paint, general TLC to make it perfect once again. Staff throughout the complex are really friendly and very quick to offer help. The pool is fantastic and extremely well looked after. If you have Children on holiday with you then look out because they will never want to leave the pool or surrounding area. Just over 5 minutes away is a truly gorgeous beach, which would certainly match far more exotic Caribbean beaches. Persevere on the walk to the beach because it doesn't look that brilliant but as soon as you the sands the view is fantastic. Alvor is lovely and a wonderful place to go on holiday.More

Nigel T,

Huge apt. Clean ,good area, towels only changed once in a week, cleaned 5times,town 5_10min away,as is beach, all very nice, bars around very good prices, loads of places to eat,if u go as we did late in season then u will see places closing day by day but still enough for a relaxing hold, cactus bar was great ,supermarket just up the road, behind there is a fantastic place to eat pizzizia de pizza, buses to Lagos, portimao where u can get the train or buses to most places,in alvor there r plenty of trip sales shops and r cheaper than Thomsons,we had a great holiday and Lagos, silves and Lisbon trip were the best.More

linda h,

This should be 3.5

The apartment was very clean & very spacious. It was fairly well-equipped, although looking a little tired. It was serviced almost every day. We were in Block A & the outside entrance door was an absolute pain to get into to - it really needs a new lock. There are bars, a small but well stocked supermarket & restaurants within the complex which were all good, especially the ones serving large beers at E1. It was a little noisy from them at night, especially as there was much football showing! The pool area is very good & well-tended. We were dumped at the hotel by the Thomson's rep, and didn't find the initial reception very good. However, when we needed the shower fixed, it was attended to right away. There is a bit of a walk into the harbour area for a better choice of restaurants & also the beach; but Alvor is a nice little town.More

Spacious clean accomodation

My husband and I and another couple stayed at Dunas for a week from 4th - 11th October. We had a two bedroom apartment overlooking the central plaza. The apartment was clean and very spacious. Television, safe,Washing machine, iron, hairdryer etc were provided and kitchen equipment was adequate and there were plenty of towels. Like some of the other reviewers I just presumed there would be air conditioning. However two free standing fans were provided and as it turned out the nights were cooler in October and we didn't need to use them much. Our apartment (booked through Booking.com.)belongs to Torralvor (they own 40 of the apartments)and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Sara and Miguel. There was a problem with all the keys.there was a knack in opening the main doors- took a few minutes to fiddle about with in order to get in - ok if you didn't need the loo in a hurry! Miguel acknowledged this problem and intends to change the locks at the end of the season. There was a fair bit of noise from the outdoor ares of the bars ,but it was usually quiet by 12.30. It may be a problem if you have young children. There was no plug in the bath or bidet which we didn't bother mentioning. The shower was fine. There were a few repairs required -two the windows didn't lock and a cover was loose on one of the wall switches but these were repaired when pointed out. We would stay in Dunas again, because of the location (5 min walk to the centre of the village and 10-15 min walk to the beach)(and the spaciousness and cleanliness of the apartment. The restaurants, bars and supermarket on site were also very convenient and I would hope that the key problem would be sorted.More
