These roomy apartments are only minutes from Alvor’s sandy beach and village centre. There’s a bus stop nearby, too, so you can get to Lagos and Albufeira easily.
These apartments have location all sewn up. They’re a 5-minute stroll from Alvor’s golden sands, and the village centre is even closer. Plus, there’s a handful of cafés, bars and shops in the complex itself.
Bright and spacious apartments are set in a trio of buildings that skirt the pool area. There’s plenty of sunbathing space, plus a bar serving drinks and snacks.

Was anxious prior to getting here, but no problems in the end.
Prior to flying, we read the recent reviews and became worried about burglaries, cleanliness and noise. To be fair to the staff that run these apartments, if there were problems, they seem to have done what they can to fix them. When we got our key for the room we were also given a safe key for free (apparently these were an additional cost before). The room had a very secure locking system and would take some smashing in if it was locked properly. The safe was fine for storing valuables. If you leave your room insecure, sorry but you're an idiot. With the key you get a swimming pool fob, just one, which can be really awkward when you want to come and go as you want. You can't get in or out of the pool area without it. Even with two of us this gets tedious, whoever has the key has the power. I didn't see a single cockroach, and the apartment was spotless. Some of the fixings are clearly old and worn, but this didn't have any impact on our stay. We had a room clean and towel change once in the week, with spare towels in the cupboards. Loads of room for clothes and storage. We had a road side room which is unavoidably noisy at times. It's not a particularly busy road but there are plenty of coaches stopping and leaving their engines running. It can get annoying but it is just one of those things. There was no air con so we had the window open, but there was a fan, a very noisy fan. The apartment was very spacious, and the kitchen was spot on with lots of cutlery and general kitchen tools. My favourite being the coffee percolator. In all we enjoyed our stay here. It's walking distance from everything you need in Alvor. I'd stay there again.More

Glad to be back
Having last stayed at the Dunas in 2009 when we were burgled, we decided to return this June because it is in such a good location for the centre and the beautiful beach is a short walk away. The only downside was that our apartment was above the Chill Out bar, which proved to be a little noisy in the early hours when we were trying to get to sleep! Also, we arrived on the Sunday and our towels were not changed until the Thursday, and we would have benefited from air conditioning. We love Alvor and we had a great time overall - it has hardly changed since the last time we visited. We would not hesitate to return to the Dunas but we are extra cautious now with our valuables. I'm really sorry to read of the burglaries that happened whilst we were there - we didn't receive much support either when it happened to us. Apart from this, Alvor is a great place for a relaxing holiday and there are lots of great bars and restaurants to choose from. It's one of those places that people return to year after year. It's good to see that some of the old faces are still there!More
Standards Have fallen
My wife and myself have been staying at the dunas for about ten years, we love alvor sadly it is under new management. As most people have said most of the rooms are clean and tidy. The pool area and surrounding walking areas have taken a bit of a dive with bird droppings everywhere, drink stains ,cigarette ends , in the past these were washed down and cleaned every morning by the then pool attendant sadly not working on the complex anymore. The key fob entry system to the pool area was really a joke people were letting friends in that were not staying on the complex this became busy and noisy which the previous pool attendant would not allow. We Could not sit on our balcony because of the birds nests and bird droppings also getting dive bombed by the birds. On our arrival at reception we asked to change our room from block A to block C due to previous break ins ,but block A and block C had break ins while we were there When we asked the reception and Thomson rep about these incidents they told us they were privately owned apartments, we found out later they were booked through Thomson. Sadly we will not be staying at the dunas in the future but will stay elsewhere in alvor.More
