Dunas do Alvor Apartments

Loading

These roomy apartments are only minutes from Alvor’s sandy beach and village centre. There’s a bus stop nearby, too, so you can get to Lagos and Albufeira easily.

These apartments have location all sewn up. They’re a 5-minute stroll from Alvor’s golden sands, and the village centre is even closer. Plus, there’s a handful of cafés, bars and shops in the complex itself.

Bright and spacious apartments are set in a trio of buildings that skirt the pool area. There’s plenty of sunbathing space, plus a bar serving drinks and snacks.

Nice apartments, but lots of noise

This is a large complex of apartments, located near the centre of Alvor, with lots of restaurants, bars and allkind of shops, and this is good. It is (or can be) within a walking distance to the beach (10-15 minutes walking), which is also good. The apartments are quite large and clean, well equiped, although everything is very simple. On the down side, the whole complex as no soundproof, which means that you are going to ear every sound from the apartments around, and mean not only the ones next door to yours. So, if you are on vacations and want to rest on a quiet environment, than you'd better choose another place. But, if you only want a place to sleep, and lots of movement nearby, than this could be a place to think about.More

Thanks Torralvor

We were able to check in earlier than expected which was very convenient. The apartment was lovely – spacious and very clean. We had stayed in Dunas several times before (in the Thomson owned apartments) but this one (owned by Torralvor) had extras including a washing machine, tall floor fan, iron and ironing board, soft fluffy towels, a safe (at no extra charge), cleaning equipment and a much appreciated welcome bottle of wine in the fridge! The owners Sara and Miguel were very friendly and helpful. We knew beforehand that there was no air conditioning but we didn't miss it because of the floor fan in the lounge and the small fan I had brought with me for the bedroom. The complex is excellent with several places to eat and drink, a launderette, minimarket, hairdressers, beauty salon and pool tables. It is very close to the town – no taxis needed. Highly recommended!More

Good Apartment Complex

The complex is very good within easy walking distance to the beach or town centre or harbour area. The apartment has all you need for a self catering holiday. There is even a laundry on site. The Reception area is always clean and the staff are very friendly and will try to help with all manner of enquiries. The living area is spacious and comfortable, there were 2 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom all separate from the living area. The 2 balconies give a choice of where to sit out.More

Great stay at Dunas do Alvor

After reading mixed reviews, I was a little hesitant about our stay at Dunas do Alvor but I had nothing to worry about. We booked through booking.com - Torralvor. Our flight was delayed but Miguel and Sara accommodated us with a late check-in with no problems at all. We were greeted in the apartment with a bottle of rose wine chilling in the fridge which was a lovely added touch. The apartment itself was immaculately clean, bright and spacious with 2 balconies with some space to sit outside. We visited in June and most days were able to get sun loungers however agree with others that they could do with some more. The complex is in a great location - 5 minute walk to Alvor town and 5-10 minutes to the beach. On complex there are a few bars/cafes which are really reasonably priced and also a supermarket. Alvor itself is a lovely little town with great bars and restaurants which are very reasonably priced. The only fault i could find with the stay is that the apartment was not cleaned during our weeks stay. There were plenty of towels provided however towards the end of the week we could have done with some more. We asked Miguel who explained that for a 1 weeks stay the apartments aren't cleaned unless requested - at a fee of 15 euro. Given the price paid for the weeks stay, we would have easily paid for this had we been informed at check-in. Overall, a great complex and great stay at Dunas do Alvor. We have already booked to return next year and will request the cleaning when checking in.More

Adequate

We returned last week from a one week stay in the Dunas Do Alvor. The apartment we had was spacious and well equipped on the whole. A large fridge freezer, oven and proper hob if you wished to cook, which we didn't. A kettle that seemed to smell of burning was a little disconcerting. We were in room 101 in the block furthest from reception and seemed to be in a block that was privately owned in the main. The beds were very simple almost camp beds which squeaked every time you turned over and pretty uncomfortable. the pillows were awful, mine felt like it was made of egg cartons!! I think my son on the bed settee had the best nights sleep, however I'm glad we don't have 2 children as the bed settee was not big enough for two. It was very noisy overnight. We were over a bar which although didn't have loud music or anything, did emanate noise until the early hours. The supermarket over the road had a refrigeration unit cutting in and out all night every night could be clearly heard even though our doors and windows were shut. The deliveries at their earliest started at 4 am. Not the long nights sleep we were looking for. The pool area was very clean and well maintained however we spent our days at the beach 5 minutes down the road as we didn't wish to be in the rush for sun beds in the morning which all go immediately (there are 50), coming back late afternoon for a swim for an hour or so. The pool area also felt to us like we were having a swim in a shopping centre ! Sun beds on the beach if you wish to use them are 10 euros for 2 for the day, but there are acres of sand to put your towel down. You can hire pedalos go on banana boats, do windsurfing, kayaking etc. There are a few beachside restaurants for a drink, snack or meal. More expensive than around the pool but not too extravagant for the setting and convenience. There are bars in the complex however we didn't use them preferring instead to stroll into town for the vast array of restaurants. Honestly it would take you a month to get round them eating out every night, the choice is endless. More fresh fish than I have ever seen. Our favourite was Alota at the bottom near the river. Fabulous service and excellent food. Possibly a little more expensive than the others. Overall we had a lovely holiday, the apartments are very convenient for everything but we would probably look at other options if returning to the area.More
