The Cerro Mar Colina offers a choice of pools and a great line-up of activities, all topped off with sweeping views of Albufeira.
From its hillside position, this place comes with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and Albufeira’s terracotta-topped old town. You can walk to the sandy shoreline in 5 minutes.
Interiors are lovely and bright, with whitewashed walls and plenty of sunlight that streams in through floor-to-ceiling windows. Apartments carry the white motif, too, and they’re finished with simple furniture and sun-trap balconies.
This hotel is part of our 3T favourites range until April 2017.
The two pools are set together on the sun terrace, surrounded by palm trees comfy loungers, with straw parasols to keep the sun at bay. The larger, curvy pool is ideal for everyone who wants to swim, splash about or just float in the sun, whilst the smaller, circular pool is ideal for the little ones.
These light and simply furnished 2 bedroom apartments come with a balcony for some extra space outside. They include a kitchen and lounge for that home-from-home feel. Plus, they include a twin bedroom, 2 extra beds, a TV, and air-conditioning.

Can't fault the hotel. We had an apartment in the Atlantico part. Apartment was well equipped, very clean bright and spacious. Serviced and new towels every day. Full bathroom included bath and bidet. The shower was brilliant. Good size balcony with views down to the square and the sea. 97 steps down to town and beach but taxis are cheap enough. Choice of pools with ample sun loungers. However, sadly, guest ignored notices asking not to reserve loungers with towels and staff seemed reluctant to do anything about it. Only gave 4 rating as we both found the staff unhelpful and not very cheerful also, breakfast quality was hit and miss and lacking in choice. I would suggest reducing the 3 types of scrambled eggs to 1 and maybe introducing boiled eggs. Also cereal was either cornflakes or coco pops and not always a choice. You had to put bread through the toaster 4 times to get any colour on it which caused queues. Better off buying groceries from the local store and using the kitchen in the apartment which included a coffee machine! With that in mind, we would stay there again.More
Amazing holiday, fantastic apartments! - downfall was the noise above!
Our apartment was 208 which had an amazing view of the sea and was so clean and spacious. The steps that everyone mentions are a pain as well as the hill on the way back up but you can get a taxi for 3.5 euro in the town if you don't feel like walking it. To get a taxi into town the main reception ring for you. - as other reviews say this hotel isn't ideal for those with walking difficulties.
Safe for 20 euros for 10 nights. Mini market directly under the hotel which wasn't bad priced for essentials. Aldi and lidl 5 min walk anyway.
The food is amazing in the old town and we found everywhere to be really reasonable on prices. A must to try is the shalom 2 - 12 euros for all you can eat ribs and they are known as the "best in town" have to agree!! Also another favourite was the bank restaurant where you can cook your own steak on a hot stone and Ricardos pizzeria with a roof terrace view of the beach and sea. Stay away from Ali ba ba Chinese - the food was awful in my opinion.
Beer is reasonable was finding 3 euros was the average everywhere for a pint, but cocktails about 5-7 euros and spirits about 6-8 euros depending. Lidl is 2 euros for 6 beers and a couple of euros for a bottle of wine. Also bottles of their own spirits for about 8 Euros. You can also get a taxi back to your hotel with your shopping.
The hotel has different pools which you can use. One of them has a swim up bar. We ate at the snack bar by our pool a couple of days and the English cooked breakfast was nice (6.50 euro) as well as the toasties (2.95 euro) and cheeseburgers (4.00 euro) Never tried the hotel restaurant as other reviews had said don't bother as quite expensive and not worth it).
Apartment is fully equipped with all kitchen essentials - the only down side is the noise we had from above on a couple of nights, a lady was walking around in heels constantly and it was so loud in our room! People are so ignorant and rude with this as I have read on other reviews. This I feel should be mentioned to people, perhaps a friendly notice in rooms because you can hear everything! We found beds to be very comfortable. Maid service everyday with fresh towels etc.
Staff very friendly and helpful with those we dealt with. Especially the ladies at the snack bar, always made the effort to have a conversation.
Would definitely come back here and would recommend to anyone that's looking for a nice self catering holiday. I wouldn't recommend all inclusive like the hotel offers at the Cerro mar garden (the main hotel) as there are too many nice cheap places to eat in town. More
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the atlantico, we checked in early so our room wasn't ready so had a drink & something to eat at the pool bar in the Cerro mar gardens, we were allowed in our apartment at 2pm & was really happy with it just across the road we had apartment 315 & had a wonderful view of the old town & sea, it was well equipped with full size fridge freezer, washing machine & dishwasher, the beds were so comfortable & cleaning & fresh towel every day, aldi is just a short walk up the hill & well worth it for beer & wine we took a small case on wheels so could buy in bulk, remember you check in at the gardens & the staff were very helpful would definitely return to the atlantico.More

Appalling Customer Service
We just arrived home last Friday from Cerro Mar (we're still actually not sure which one because there are a few different buildings and are all next to each other). We arrived quite late (roughly 9.30pm) after a very long day of travelling. The girl who greeted us was lovely and brought us to our room and showed us around, our initial thought of the room was that it was very nice and spacious, we were so relieved just to be there. The first thing we did was turn on the lights and then the air conditioning , in doing this it blew a fuse and we were left standing in complete darkness. We rang down and explained what happened. The lady was rude and not apologetic in any way and said she'd send someone up. A man came up and flicked the fuse switch on (clearly a temporary fix to something more complicated). He left and we tried switching on lights and air con again, once again we were left in darkness . this time we switched the fuse on ourselves and rang down to reception again, I explained the situation again in case the woman on the phone was not the same lady I had previously talked to on the phone. To my disgust in the middle of me explaining very politely what was going on she cut me off mid sentence and told me she knew all of this and asked was there anything we thought was bowing the fuse. I said the air conditioning to which she told me to leave it off. Of course, being from Ireland we are not used to weather like that and very much need it for a comfortable sleep. In the meantime our bathroom light began flickering constantly which was extremely annoying. She told me she would send someone up at 10am the next morning to fix everything. We set our alarms for half 9 to get up and get ready and await this person. By 11am I was livid. I rang down to my disgust it was the same woman who (without any apology and the rudest tone) replied "I TOLD YOU MY COLLEAGUE WOULD COME TO YOU". It was 12 by the time we could leave, our apartment. We should mention the mam (Carlos) who fixed everything was so lovely and helpful.
Furthermore to this horrendous first impression we then had the displeasure or witnessing the same woman who had spoken to me on the phone at reception being so rude to three Spanish girls who had just arrived and had clearly been travelling all day and were very distressed, it seemed as if they were in the wrong cerro mar (as there are so many people can easily get confused). We could see the woman repeatedly rolling her eyes at them and she basically refused to help them leading them to beg for her help. It was actually so horrible to watch that I went up to the girls and asked were they ok, they said the woman was not helping them and was so unhelpful, one of them looked as though she was about to cry.
I've never in my life met someone so blatantly unhappy in their job and honestly it baffles me how she could be allowed to be on the front desk without ANY customer service qualities.
On top of all of this, our hair dryer did not work , when we went to reception to tell them and ask for one for our room, we were made to feel as though we were difficult customers , we did not once receive any apology for the standard of our apartment. I would expect when paying â¬700 that at the very least everything is functioning in the apartment.
On arrival we also received only 1 key, which was incredibly inconvenient for us because to get in (or out) of various gates you need your key. So one day I went to the pool and it meant my boyfriend was stuck in the room until I came back because he wouldn't have been able to leave the apartment block without one.
My boyfriend and I got off to such a bad start to our holiday with everything that things never really picked up after that. We will absolutely not go back to Cerro Mar. I see a lot of bad reviews so we see now we were not the only ones treated so appallingly. More
Lovely place to visit
We loved it here just in the right spot for us not too quiet or noisy. The rooms were nice and big and very clean, maids came in every day. We have been before so chose this place for all those reasons. We got a car but you can walk to the old town and to the nearby Aldi and Lidl but a few hills to contend with but you can take your time. I would go back again. More
